Fizz. 1,078 January 1, 2012 Share January 1, 2012 That's crazy, thank god there are no Tsunami dangers, as it says. Funny thing is, a city on Ohio, the state I'm in, got hit by a 4.0 earthquake today too. What a coincidence. =P http://alt="img-3411728-1-kQpW0ME.png">

Klopp 2,050 January 1, 2012 Share January 1, 2012 (edited) Welcome to Klopp's Fun Science Facts! This is nothing too unusual for off the coast of Japan, actually. The earthquake on March 11th was of a magnitude 9.0, which is far more forceful an earthquake. For each magnitude on the Richter scale, the force of the earthquake is roughly 32 times greater than the previous. So the force of the March 11th earthquake was more than 1000 times greater than that of this 6.8 (Never listen to news reports when dealing with earthquakes, they always manage to get it wrong somehow. Go straight to the USGS for the best info) Edited January 1, 2012 by Klopp

Klopp 2,050 January 5, 2012 Share January 5, 2012 Japan doesn't seem like the nicest place to live o.O I don't understand how people can continue to live in their villages that get knocked down by earthquakes every years .__. The earthquakes in and around Japan, really are not felt very often by the residents there. And if they are, it is not very severe, unless it is like the one from March 11th. And even so, because of the architecture of Japans buildings, the earthquake did not effect them much at all. It was the tsuanami following the earthquake that did all the damage.
