Why Time Travellers won't give us Time Travel.

It's cause we're dumb. They realize that we as a culture, have not yet advanced enough to wield the power of time travel. I mean look at us. The more we know, the more we use it to destroy. I mean, just look at nuclear energy. What do we do? Make a bomb. And other stuff. But we made a bomb. To blow ourselves us. We are really really stupid.

 

So the awesome human time travelers (who will undoubtedly call themselves "Doctors", cause let's face it Dr. Who will never end [Happy Dance]) decided to make travelling in the future only possible and did not engineer a method to travel into the past.

 

They cannot bring back future technology and as such not upset the culture to technology balance. Thereby those rules we cannot attain a time travelling machine.

 

The only problem I see with this is a mad scientist finds out a way to travel back in time. But I assume the resources to actually create a whole new time machine was to large for a mere scientist to attain by himself. And he probably won't be funded. Because humans are smarter in the future. Yerp. I'm cheating putting restrictions on the possibilities but I think this is the most likely situation, if time travel really is possible.

 

Another possibility is that travel is not possible. But that's problem.

Wait, what kind of Time Travelers we are speaking right now? Humans or Aliens?

 

If these Time Travelers are humans in a distant future, there's a good probability that some of those future-people will try to smuggle few machines in exchange of raw resources. Future humans might be smarter, but they are still humans, just a bag of flesh filled with limitless greed.

But if the Time Travelers are Aliens, big chance they already see us as one of their science project.

 

But it would be nifty if the invention of Time Machine was a self-sustaining paradox like that certain MLP episode

Yes, I think I addressed that problem in my post. A large majority of people, I think, will accept that giving future tech to a culture that hasn't advance far enough, is not beneficial to them or us. And the resources to build a time machine would require a lot of funding, so the small minority who would want to give a time machine to the past, can't do it as they aren't funded to

a) Fund the reasearch into how to travel into the past (which is unfortunate)

Build the machine and actually travel into the past (which is fortunate)

 

I was talking about human time travellers. A large problem with time travel people bring up, is if time travel is possible, why don't we have it now? This is a solution to that problem.

I'll be honest. If I found a way to create time-travel, I would destroy it in an instant. You would get a bunch of people wanting to go in the past and stop all the bad things because they would be too immature to understand that things in the past need to happen for humanity to improve.
