Laydee Kaze 400 August 14, 2012 Share August 14, 2012 (edited) I tend to lurk more than I post, but it's come to my attention very recently, that a lot of people seem to be posting stuff inappropriate for minors. Y'know, borderline NSFW content/threads, about fapping, and mature fanfics etc. Not to sound like a spoil sport or anything... but this forum just cracked down on the under 13 legal issues. I know 13+ are going to be a bit more, eh, lenient to things like this, but I think that it's still really inappropriate... if not, illegal. People under the age of 18 shouldn't really be openly exposed to this kinda stuff...yeah it might just be talking about masturbating, or whatever... but a forum about a show that has a target audience of children, isn't really the right place. :/ I know right now that there isn't really much that could be done about it... One thing I can think of is an 18+ Subforum that's invisible (so no browsing it), and only accessible via requesting and being accepted. (The rules being that the age on the persons profile has to be 18 and above) That seemed to work well on an anime forum I used to go on. HOWEVER, I do recall Feld0 mentioning he wanted to keep the forum a clean place for minors, so I can't see the above suggestion happening... But right now the forum doesn't seem as clean as it used to be, before I was inactive for a bit. The only other thing I can think of is maybe moderators could be a bit more diligent in looking at newly posted topics, etc? I know it's not the easiest thing to spot, but I just thought it might help if it was brought to moderators/admins attention. I apologize in advance to anyone under 18 that thinks my post is 'spoiling' their fun or anything... but it's just not right :/ EDIT: people seem to be mis-interperating the subforum thing I mentioned. I'm not saying that Feld0 should do it, or whatever. I know he can't because he's underage. I was just trying to explain that it worked for an anime forum I went on, and it's a method that forums can use. I do also explain JUST underneath that Feld0 mentioned he wanted to keep the forum clean (I specifically remember the post about it not being do-able) so I know that it wont happen. I'm just trying to explain that the open NSFW/risque posting needs cracking down on, or atleast a bit of attention toward it. Mods can't be viewing the boards every waking second but a report brings it to their attention quicker than it would if they just browse the site themselves. Reporting a topic puts it in their hands quicker for them to decide. If you feel it's wrong, report immediately. If everyone passes by, thinking someone else has already reported it, then it may never be reported. And on the other points you made, I really don't think that's much of a problem. With this fandom, and all that's associated with it, anyone who clicks on a thread with something like "clop" in the title should be prepared for what shall come. And as long as people keep the dirty stuff itself out of it, it's perfectly ok. But of course, there's always that nifty report button that you can use if you feel something crosses the line for what's appropriate at these forums. So feel free to use that, too, as the mods will probably say. The fact that I ended up reporting a fair amount of posts for very similar reasons (Mature/borderline content) is why it's been brought to my attention. But it's not just that. I think members should have enough common sense to like, not repeatedly post stuff like that. I'm certain it should be one of the top rules on the forum... I'm kinda scared now. Your opinion doesn't matter, welcome to life. Clop fictions and the like are pornography. They are sexually based material, which are strictly 18+. It is in the T&Cs of this site that you don't post NSFW material, you agreed to this, so stick to it. If you don't, then you run the risk of legal action in the most severe cases. I usually only see the first 5 new topics and always try to check them out for duplicates or NSFW content. If they are blatantly obvious. But I will lay it down on all of you. First off, posting NSFW content is strictly prohibited, be it sexual acts, gore, rape, brutal murder. Pretty much anything you wouldn't want your boss to see when he passes your cubicle at work. Pretty much where NSFW (Not Suited For Work) comes from. This is all types of form this could be in. be it text, visual art, an animation, even music. If it is inappropriate, do not post it. Secondly, I always ask all members to be diligent, always. We can never have too many reports on a single topic or post. The forum produces an average of 4,000 posts per day, and the modponies cannot be aware of all of them. And as the forum activity increases, the amount of posts per day also increases. Reporting is vital to keep us aware. While action won't always be immediate, it will be eventual. I hope you all understand and stop bickering.
