Pinkazoid 3,493 August 18, 2012 Share August 18, 2012 (edited) So I was thinking that maybe there could be an option for friends on the forums, more precisely something to mark them as favorites, because when someone sends you a friend request, well you can just add them not being full aware of who they are, because you feel that denying it can be a little harsh. Can't there be a Favorite add? it can be anonymous, so no one knows who's on who's list, the reason is that once I turned on the notify me when a Friend Makes a Status Update, my notification box was stormed with notifications, and making a favorite list can just be to add your closest friends doesn't sound that bad....does it? and it's Pinkazoid's way to stalk others yes I'm looking at you Arylett Three people liked this? I feel speshul now c: Edited August 18, 2012 by Pinkazoid 8 :
Twiliscael 3,960 August 18, 2012 Share August 18, 2012 It's true, when a random friend request comes in, I feel like a *insert mean word here* for denying it so I keep it. 1 I tend to take the high road, get stoned, and fly low . . .
Guest August 18, 2012 Share August 18, 2012 This could come in handy, 200+ notifs can get kind of annoying due to status updates. Although how this would be implemented, I don't know.
Jokuc 8,174 August 18, 2012 Share August 18, 2012 Haha I actually asked this in one of my status updates once xD Anyways, I think it would be nice to have. I just let people add me even though I don't really know who they are. Also when you go through your list of 9001 friends it's hard to find that special pony you're looking for. So if this is possible, then why not? It's good if it would be anonymous as you said because if not, people would be like "why am I not on your favorite list? :C"
NavelColt 22,882 August 18, 2012 Share August 18, 2012 I like this idea. If I may advance on it, maybe the little 'Friends' section on your profile page, you know, the small box that depicts twelve avatars, could be some of your favorite friends and not just random ones from your entire friends list. Then you have the entire 'Friends' tab that depicts everyone, like how it is.
Bohtty 1,775 August 18, 2012 Share August 18, 2012 I have no problems denying people. If I haven't talked to them ONCE or seen any to their posts before then why are they adding me lol? Adding this feature almost seems like it would take more work then it's worth. 1 Legit signature made by Shift.

Doctor XFizzle 8,669 August 18, 2012 Share August 18, 2012 I never really go out of my way to PM someone so I never need to go through my friends list lol. But hey if others want it, maybe we can subscribe to certain people's actions like statuses and topics they've made? Then again most of my friends are staff so I just need to click on the colored mod categories at the bottom of the homepage. >____> 2 MLP Forums' resident timelord, sports dilettante, and purveyor of wit and humor~*Traveling Timelord Nonpareil*~

Scootacool is the only mod I really talk with at all regularly. He's probably the only one goofy enough to try and be friends with chaos. At any rate, I understand this is subjective to the people who don't want to deny people and of whom would like a differentiation from true friends who they talk with all the time and whom they feel more close to than most others on the board, to 'normal friends', but it's certainly not going to hurt anyone, even those who otherwise don't agree with the idea themselves. If the ratio of posters in this topic is any indication, there's more people who do care about the idea of making a favorite friends list, to those who don't care about rejection. Shiki 5,856 August 18, 2012 Share August 18, 2012 (edited) I have never taken the time to add someone to my friend's list (though I have it on insta-accept, because it's not like it'll do anything besides show more profile links on my profile), and I've only partaken in a handful of conversations throughout my almost whopping month of being a user on this site. This is a forum, and friends don't really seem like they're that much of a big deal on forums. This isn't really a social networking site, and I highly doubt many people would find this useful enough to really care if it is denied. A simple "Aw... that's okay" would probably be in order. There are many sites that offer instant messaging, profile creating, and other social networking-like features. I say you should take it there, because it really does seem like it'd be wasted effort on the mods, although I don't know how difficult it really would be to implement said feature. I may be wrong, though. I'm not going to sit here and argue that I'm 100% right. Doctor XFizzle 8,669 August 18, 2012 Share August 18, 2012 I accept all friend requests I receive because in my mind, why the hell not? It's not like by taking on friends to your friends list you're going to pay more money or you're going to receive spam mail for hair care products or magazine subscriptions. Who knows, maybe someone's new and having a veteran member accept their friend request makes them feel good about themselves and their day is made or they feel inspired to post on the forums more. I see more harm in denying requests than accepting requests from blank flanks and muffins. 2 MLP Forums' resident timelord, sports dilettante, and purveyor of wit and humor~*Traveling Timelord Nonpareil*~
Founder Twilight Sparkle ✨ 8,528 August 19, 2012 Founder Share August 19, 2012 The suggestion of a "Favourite Friends" list is made in light of the guilty feeling you'd get by denying a friend request. However, what's to stop one of your "friends" from feeling offended if they aren't one of your "favourites"? I think adding a "Favourite Friends" feature would only be asking for trouble, personally. Accepting every friend request you get (heck, even having it on auto-accept) will more or less make your friends list meaningless. Since your list is already meaningless, it is not all that difficult to clean it up and trim it down to truthfully reflect who your friends here are if that is what you're after. 3 Avatar credit: robinrain8 Signature credit: Kyoshi
