How Encylopedia dramatica pushed me to check out mlp

I am a very new brony, after having watched mlp for the first time yesterday. Before this I had scorned the whole mlp fandom, lumping it in with furries and weeaboos. My friends, who are all bronies, do not even know about my change of heart, so I am still a closet brony[they are on the forum too, so don't tell them ;-) ]. The reason I don't want to tell them is because I was a huge brony hater up until yesterday. As a matter of fact, last May I told one of my friends who wrote fanfics at school that he was everything that encyclopedia dramatica said about bronies. The next day my friend came back laughing, saying that ED was one of the funniest sites he had ever seen. However, my plan to change him did not work as I thought it would. I kept trying other plans to change him, such as introducing him to the fallout games. Little did I know about fallout Equestria, making him just love the fandom more. I then just stopped trying to change him. At this point I turned a bit cold to my friend for not listening to me, but we remained friends. Now, fast forward to this week. Recently, I had been on ED a lot, and finally and I checked out the brony article for a laugh. After reading it, I realized that my points against bronies were based on my perception. I had never even watched the show, despite saying I did several times in an attempt to make my points valid. So I decided to watch the first episode. I started it up with a very negative mind. Within the first two minutes I was hooked. The characters were truly captivating and the animation well done. So now I realize that I should have been the one to change, instead of trying to change others.

I hope that this new revelation for you has taught you that tolerance, even the things you do not understand, is what makes us better people like it has for many other new bronies. Welcome, and I hope that you enjoy the rest of the show.

We need more people like you in the world (as in the try it out and relize its not bad and then start liking it and regreting how you hated it, besides the, I hate this and dont even know really what it is but ive heard that its bad and things like that so it must be)

Dont buy into the propaganda.

This is a signature.

ED is hilarious. I don't know why people actually take it too seriously, it's just a controversial humor site and a site where certain individuals get their well deserved E-infamy. The MLP/Bronies page seems pretty tame (by ED standards at least) in comparison to some others pages on there, honestly...

But congrats on the whole change and all.

I love ED :D It's hilarious. Also, ohinternet can burn in hell >_<

But please, stop with this "closet brony" shit. Being a brony isn't a big deal. It's not like it's some weird derangement that you might be scorned for if you reveal it. It's not like you're a pedophile or something. Stop making it a bigger deal than it is. You're a brony, get over it. If you don't want to tell anyone, fine, but don't act like it's some huge secret you can't let anybody know about.

I mean, come on, it's a television show.

My philosophy is that if people are gonna bash you for liking one harmless little show simply because it isn't part of the "norm", they are unenlightened individuals who just don't comprehend the big picture.

I for one thank you for being so open minded about this. You truly are not only a Brony, but a genuine human being.

Oh yeah, definitely agree with the stopping use of "closet brony". It really defames the fan base, and the only reason I have not told my friends is fear of being a hypocrite. I know most of my good friends are into mlp, but several times I have been accused of being a "closet" brony by some friends into the show themselves. Also, I know well enough not to take ED seriously. Probably one of the funniest sites ever. And yeah, ohinternet is the biggest piece of shit known to mankind. Edited by aperture_tech

This is exactly how I started but I have finished the show already. Trust me once you watch about 5 episodes you will not stop watching untill you are done with all the seasons. This Is how I stared out being a brony. Except instead of friends it was my brother and I kept thinking of ways to get him out of watching the show then I watched one episode right after my brother finished the show, then I realized this is the best show ever why did I doubt it. I should not have judged a book by its cover.

Ew. You like My Little Pony -- isn't that a show for little girls.

Hmph. That must be what you are, then. A little girl. Yuck, who likes those?

Dear God, you're creepy. Stay away from my family etc etc.

Uh oh, tough guy here. Look out everyone, we got another one who thinks he's HOT SHET. We'll settle this tomorrow. My swag-meter is running low -- you're draining my impression on others.

Besides, I heard you *blanked* several oranges. EHW. AHH. JEEE.

On-topic: Welcome to herd, buddy. Yadda-yadda.
