Actually, I've made Pound Puppies topics in this forum before, I didn't mention it, and people would still say it. So that's why I decided to address it.

 

Anyway, this topic is intended for people who are fans of The Hub's Pound Puppies, (or perhaps, for people who just like to collect cute looking toys!)

I honestly am not overjoyed by the lack of semblance the toys have to their respective characters in the show (at least, some of them; Patches' looks pretty good), but I'm looking to buy some to show my support. I've already addressed my thoughts about the whole "last name" thing that the toys have going on, but holyfack20bucksforpatcheswhy. I think Senn bought a few, if I recall correctly.

 

If you never posted this, it might stayed somewhat secret.

Its no different than the MLP: FIM toys. Those don't really resemble the animated ponies very well either. Its nothing new. The important thing is that Hasbro has finally come out with merchandise for Pound Puppies. They don't look too bad, really. Besides, toys based on animated characters will always have a bit of distortion.

Its important for fans to support the show.

Everyone: Seriously, it saddens me that most of you here just associate Pound Puppies with that meme, thereby, belittling it. Its a good show guys. Its NOT a one-note joke.

I'm well aware of that, but it's not... Eh. It's true for most of the toys that I have acquired, though, including ponies and whatnot, so I suppose it was rather vapid to speak of that in my earlier post. I've stated that the look wasn't a prominent issue for me, and was not going to interfere with me buying the toys and supporting the show.

I love this show, and poking fun at a relatively widely known something about it does not change that fact. You know this, I know this, and we all have smiliar feelings to that, even in a different context or regard. The joke itself is not lampooning or making fun of the show to its detriment (which, in this case, would be its reception). As for why the joke is so prominent when this show is regarded, I'm unsure. Hopefully it's more than the mere innuendo, but even if that is the case, I'm not complaining, because it doesn't hurt the show's image for having a quote to laugh at, especially when it wasn't intended. Out of the context, "Secret but fun" is still 100% prone to the exact same interpretation(s), yes? It's not heavily regarded because it's Pound Puppies, it's commonly regarded because of that one parse. Anyone else could have said it in any other show, you'd have a comparable result.

 

My apologies for going against the rules of your thread, however, last thing I was meaning to do was piss you off or irritate you.

It has been said that if they choose to do that, then they are being rather hypocritical. I'm still genuinely concerned if their opinions for this show are set in stone, and they aren't looking to give it a(nother) go.

 

Even still, I'm sure that when most hear "Pound Puppies", the "Secret but fun" quote isn't their immediately FIRST thought about it. If that's true for anyone, it construes their ignorance on the matter. After taking time to watch the show and actually understand it more than they believe they do from watching three episodes, they'll realize that there's clearly more to it than that. The apparent assumption that you've made means that you adamantly believe that those still using the rather overused joke are simply mocking it just because. It's not a daft assumption, but it does seem like it's causing your faith for this show's reception to falter.

 

Again, I apologize for playing along with the joke, but it's not hurting the show. Whether or not the joke is made doesn't (or shouldn't *knocks on wood*) affect how this show is received, nor whether people choose to watch it or not. It is a good show, but it doesn't warrant being so overtly defensive about the harmless. I prioritize things like ignorant criticism and broad statements much more than a jaded joke.
