I'm a person who's pretty hard to impress, but I don't really see pixel art like this to be much to brag about =/

 

I also still don't completely understand why people tend to use minecraft as a medium for pixel art. What am I overlooking?

Also minecraft pixel art is just something like making music from the music blocks in the game. it seems insignificant on a heavily limited game like this but when they do the nearly impossible I say give credit where credit is due.

Yea it is very basic but also my first ever attempt at this :3 i'm looking to moving on to bigger and better projects in the near future XD what would you suggest other than minecraft?

Lots of programs can be used for pixel art. MS Paint, Graphicsgale, Grafx2... anything that has a pencil tool or equivalent and a zoom of at least 400% can be used for pixel art. I would probably suggest poking around for a bit to see what sort of software out there seems usable for you.
