Celestia, Luna, and the Elements of Harmony

Something I think most of you probably noticed: when Celestia and Luna both used the Elements or Harmony against Discord, it had the same effect as when the Mane 6 used them. However, when Celestia used them against Nightmare Moon, they didn't have the same effect. This means that Celestia wasn't in tune with some of the Elements or Harmony and not able to take full advantage of them.

 

I'm thinking that the Elements Celestia was in tune with were generosity, kindness, laughter, and possibly loyalty. Luna, on the other hand, was in tune with honesty, loyalty, magic, and possibly kindness. What does everypony think of this theory?

Actually I think ~Chaotic Discord~ did a topic like tthis before and it was simply put it Celestia could'nt use the elements to their full potential and it could'nt un-corrupt or stone Luna (Though the EoH were specifically created to combat Discord they can affect other un un-harmonous creatures too)

Celestia indeed couldn't control the elements to their full effect by herself, because she needed Luna to do so, as shown when they successfully vanquished Discord into stone; which the Mane Six would later do down the line, as well. Now, one thing I never talked about that you are, is the 'elements split between Celestia and Luna'. I honestly don't know if that applies with alicorns. Even though Celestia couldn't use the Elements to their full potential alone, she could still use them, all of them, herself when she vanquished Nightmare Moon. So I'm guessing alicorns could be more magically powerful or in-tuned with the elements, or, at least just Celestia and Luna are.

It can be said that Celestia is powerful enough to wield ALL of the Elements by herself... but the only catches are that they cannot be used by herself or other ponies representing each of them, and that you would require at least one other pony to get the desired effect: in Nightmare Moon's case, the "weak effect", as I like to call it, simply sends her into oblivion whereas the "strong effect" actually reverses the corruption process altogether.

 

I do think that the Elements can be fine-tuned based on what the bearers are feeling at that exact moment. However, they all need to be in-sync with each others' emotions for the process to finish successfully. In Discord's case, he was laced with an even stronger stone seal after being attacked with a huge rainbow which was the result of the Mane 6's slight anger towards him, but this was "good anger" as they all learned to be more determined in taking care of themselves and their friendships with each other. In Luna's case, Twilight felt much more thankful and happy as soon as she "let true friendship into her heart", and it was noticeable by the tears of joy she publicly displayed. Of course, her friends also experienced the same wonder and as a result managed to be truly in-sync with her, then firing a rainbow which effectively destroyed Luna's corruption permanently.
