I'm not lactose and tolerant. I can see that people are lactose tolerant because, usually sometimes dairy products can upset someone's stomach or 75% of the time a person is allergic to dairy and they can't eat dairy products. I think that when I eat dairy products, I don't usually feel sick when it comes to dairy. So, apologies to people who are lactose and tolerant.

My lactose intolerance is a hit and miss thing. Sometimes it's an issue, sometimes it's not. There's no pattern to it that I can see. It can be triggered by any dairy product but ice cream (you should add it to the poll's fourth question) and ordinary milk seem to have a higher probability.

Almond milk is my preferred alternative with soy milk only being tolerable in cereal. Not all almond milks are equal though. Almond Breeze is far better than Silk in my opinion, and I prefer the unsweetened variety. Despite contending with this condition for many years, I've never tried lactose-free anything. Haven't had any of the pills that supposedly help with it either. Maybe I should so I can finally order some ice cream from Cold Stone or someplace and enjoy it.

If you are LE, but want to enjoy something based on dairy, you can try kefir. The real one. Let it work for two days and virtually all the milk sugar should have been converted by the kefir grains. It will also tell you whether you crave the milk sugar itself or just the 'dairy experience'. You can re-sweeten the kefir though.
