Zygen 6,066 October 17, 2012 Share October 17, 2012 (edited) WOW Thats some pretty nice art! I like it:) I know I point it out alot, but I am afterall not an artist by any stretch, so you should certainly feel good for being able to make such wonderful creations! (Which I could never make in a million years honestly lol) But they are very nice They look very smooth and they give a nice mood. I get a bit of a darker vibe from the first black one and it and the background fits well with all the pony. The next one is very chilly and gives me the vibe of someone whos kinda cold hearted almost. Sorta like the really popular kid on the block kinda thing. Ya know what I mean i'm sure Last one sorta reminds me of luna, maybe its the cutie mark though Overall very good I think! Again its a million times better then anything I'll ever draw! Standard User 2,127 October 17, 2012 Share October 17, 2012 Well, if that's the case I don't feel AS bad asking for the same deal. If you could draw my O.C. as well, I would be greatly appreciated. I finally made an O.C. and am feeling a bit zealous about getting him drawn. http://i47.tinypic.com/2wekyfc.png Uh, if you get some free time and feel like doodling him, that would be awesome...if you don't mind, that is. oOo RIP Forums Writing Centre ;_; oOo
Pix3M 607 October 17, 2012 Share October 17, 2012 (edited) Not bad. Kind of good, actually. Better than the usual stuff I see. I also kind of like these styles of pony that try to aim for 'beautiful' rather than 'cute'. From top to bottom, left to right: 1. I wonder if we could make the little sections of lime (w/e they're called) less symmetrical? The radial symmetry you have here could result in something that's more boring and plain that it needs to be. 2. The tree's flower feels as if it could have been done a lot better. The large flower in the leaves have a totally different outline style from the other flowers, and the flowers seem to have some contrast issues with the trunk. The star's outline also bugs me a bit. It has an outline but the colored drops do not. It kind of suggests they don't belong together as the art style is different, and the outline on the star feels rather disproportionately thin (not sure why). The highlight on the star also has very little contrast so it does not give a very strong 3-D impression. 3. Something about the composition bugs me a bit. The tall pony's legs appear to all melt into the bottom pony, and the bottom pony practically blends with the background since her colors are too similar with the background. There's also a small dot created by the lower pony's tail almost covering the tall pony's leg, but not quite. That may be a bit distracting, and a bit unecessary. 4. Forelegs appear to be different once you look at them long enough. The foreleg farthest from us appear to be placed farther back from that pony's chest, and if you look at her joint which corresponds to our own elbows, they appear to suggest a 'forearm' of different lengths. 5. The far rear leg appears to be placed too far to our left. The pony appears to be standing to give us a profile view, but the leg placement makes more sense with a 3/4ths view. However, if you look at the placement of the hooves, it's really a side view that it conveys. The wing is also covering up that rear back leg so it almost looks as if that pony has only three legs. 6. Legs appear to have different proportions from each other. 7. At a glance, there doesn't seem to be many things that may seem off, but looking harder, I now know why. You probably took an already-existing rasterized vector of Luna (either that or you used a base), and did your work on it. Looking at one of her hoofs, there (for some reason) appear to be an outline hugging around the anti-aliasing pixels. I also spot some misplaced pixels near the ear, suggesting that it was edited with a raster editor, not with a vector-editing program. The color scheme is a bit unusual as most ponies have a coat color lighter than their mane color, and I believe it's because it's a bit harder to pull off. I wonder if making the coat color lighter would do this favors? I notice that I'm mainly focusing on the vivid pink mane that is practically drowning out the very dark-colored body. You also have little contrast between the coat's fill color and the outline, while the mane has plenty of contrast with its fill and outline color. 8. Did you forget the other bat wing? Her legs, like other works, also appear to have different proportions with some sections being longer or shorter than the same section on the other leg. 9. Legs have slightly different proportions again (e.g. hoofs are different shapes), and legs appear to be flat as the back legs are mostly a white space with a continuous outline despite the number of joints being bent. 10. Forelegs appear longer than rear legs. Proportions for forelegs are also different (though not seeing much for rear legs on this one). The foreleg farther from us has an outline that bends into the chest, making their 'forearms' having different lengths, and their 'elbows' being different lengths from the chest. So pretty much, the next step is probably to pay a bit more attention to whether both left and right fore/rear legs appear to have the same proportions. Not sure if that's something you've already started to notice though, but it's something I personally start to notice when I look at these long enough. Batbrony 16,055 October 17, 2012 Share October 17, 2012 Great pieces, all of them. I'll admit, I was a bit confused with the first few (wasn't sure what the more abstract pics were all about), but all of the pics were fantastically drawn, and your pony pics look spectacular! Keep up the great work!!! "You'll hunt me. You'll condemn me, set the dogs on me. Because that's what needs to happen. Because sometimes... cupcakes aren't good enough. Sometimes ponies deserve more. I do realize that some of the proportions are wrong.... It is slightly my downfall on ponies. I just recently started drawing ponies and had to change my entire drawing style to make them look like ponies. Though I am more of a manga or realism artist, I've been trying my best to draw mlp I thank you.
