Anypony willing to share pony drawing tips?

hey there guys.

I kinda am wanting draw some pony art, but am not that talented at drawing this type of stuff.

So my question to you is, you got any pony drawing tips you are willing to share?

you could just explain and, if you want, post a picture(of your masterpieces)and/or explaining the steps it takes to draw a pony.

I need all the help i can get guys!

Well, there is no substitute for working with references and practicing, but here is a guide for a very simple way of drawing ponies which I just through together using filly AJ. The art isn't very good because I rushed it, but I think you get the idea.

 

 

1.

First draw a circle.

2.

Then add a line like this. It will become the nose.

3.

Draw a line curving towards the part of the original circle which will become the back of the head.

4.

Add the mouth, ear, and nostril.

5.

Add the eye. The bottom of the eye should be aligned with the nostril.

6.

Add details to the eye and add the eyelashes.

7.

Add the hair. It shouldn't be flat to the head so that the hair has depth.

8.

Draw a sort of J shape which will become the neck and front of the torso coming out of the curved line from step 3.

9.

Create a sort of candy corn shaped oval for the torso.

10.

Add the legs.

11.

Add the tail

12.

Ink the drawing, add details, and erase unnecessary lines.

13. Then you can add more details and color.

well, I can't say much, so i will tell you what i do:

1 draw the ear

2. draw the head

3. get the body shape

4. draw the legs

5. mane and tail

and always draw lightly, in case you want to erase.

 

all of this done timed should turn out like this:

Well I can't get my picture to post but here goes...when I am first starting to learn how to draw something first I find a reference. Choose a picture that you like of a pony that you would like to attempt to draw.

 

Now I personally always start with the head of whatever living being that I attempt to draw. I do the outline shape and that includes the shaping if say the mane is in front of the eye. Its going to look weird because it looks like you have half a head or something.

 

Then I fill in a few details, outline where the eyes, mouth, nose will go and start to fill in the outline of the mane.

 

From there I just move down the neck and body, using each previous drawn parts as references for what is coming up.

 

Once its all in, I get to what I consider the fun part, the detailing. Adding a bit of shading for depth and the eyes, mane texture, and cutie mark.

i really can't tell you any of my steps becaues there are to many of them. but i have a video of my drawing a pony. for you to see how i draw ponies so i hopes it helps you out man and good luck to you.
