New OC Drawing

So i was bored and decided to come up with a new OC. Any tips or anything would be great! if you guys like i shall post more, if no i tried. Hope you guys like.

in Sweetie Bell voice "I really like its mane!" Seriously though, I actually do like the mane style. Is it meant to be two tone? The body seems to be a bit squished not by much, that's the only thing that seams off to me. Oh what are the colors you are planing on using?

It is a very beautiful drawing you did there. I gotta say though, the first thing that popped into my mind was "Octavia." It looks and "acts" just like her, I guess after she got a haircut (manecut?). This is kind of a big deal as ponies practically have the same bodies, so they rely on subtle but very important features that make them distinct.

 

Perhaps when applied with you color pallet, it won't be so Octavia-ish (not that it being so is a bad thing, it's just that it won't be distinct).

Actualy,yes, when i first started drawing her i was going for a kinda Octavia feel. Why? I dont know, and the reason the body is a little squished is because i was having a hard time drawig lastnight. Im planing on redoing the drawing to something better and color it. When its done i'll post it up here.

Well yeah, like i said before the paper i drew this on had alot of ghost lines on it so im gana redo the whole thing wich is why i didnt but any detail into the drawing. And Meta Knight, i will most definatly post another one on this page, this is a new OC im working on so i havent come up with a cutie mark yet. Well the remake of this isnt going to happen for a while. Of course i had to run out of white copy paper(printer paper). Soooo... im going to experament on lined paper instead. I may or may not post those on here depening if you can actualy see the drawing.

it looks real good, its hard for me to get a really good feel for it without color, but I know your working on color and cutie mark and stuff like that still.

Well actualy, if your folowing the RP youll find out she is a blank falnk. But yeah, in terms of colors she has a light brown coat, deep forest eyes and a pure black mane

That color for the paper looks very off with the image, hard for me to see it without wondering why white paper couldn't be acquired for better processing to computer. But that's just me nitpicking there.

 

The only real problem I have is her mane. The back of her head's neckline with the mane looks nice, fits well with her tail. The top of her head though not so much. Looks like you were staring at an Octavia picture for a bit too long when drawing her, maybe you could add in those nice lines from her neckline hair to the top of her head? It just looks really off in a design choice, like you tried mashing two ponies into one.

 

Other than the mane everything looks nice. Like the ink used, the use of curves in certain areas like her legs, it looks nice and clean. Paper could be white but that's a small flaw to my own choosing there.

 

And one final thing, next time try and center the image and not crop off her ear/tail from the image before presenting to others for a more better judgement and critique. For all I know you have a little bow at the end of her tail, or the tips of her ear hold a very small but of an earing or its swished at the tip in a stylized way.

I see what you mean there, the thing is i took the picture with my phone and then emailed it to myself so that may be the cause of the discoloring of the paper. And this is my first drawing of this OC so the mane wasnt perfect like you would expect. ive continued to improve on the mane and it looks alot better than what you see here. And the croping thing i did because there was other drawing on that page i didnt want in the picture so i had to cut off part of the tail and ear so people would be like "what that in the top left corner of the page?!?". But yeah i understand where youre coming from.
