Suddenly the pack of Timberwolves halted, Sharaku calling them to a standstill. The scent had been lost.

 

"These aren't the ponies we're looking for. They merely bear a hint of his scent. Curse them! Kill them anyway, then we keep looking! We'll bring Silmor his prize!"

 

The wolves howled again and lept into a charge. Ahead of them they could see a small company of ponies, alone and vulnerable. Easy pickings for the wolves meat.

 

"Kill them all!"

Swish heard the sound of footsteps and heavy panting. They were fast, as if something was running. Swish turned around to face the sound, only to find that an angry pack of Timberwolves was rushing straight towards them. Swish took out his shield in addition to his sword.

"I'm sorry, I didn't realize we were fighting twigs today..." He chuckled. Swish turned to Star, "Well Star, I take it you're the leader of this little group so far. What's your call, fight or run?"

"Uhhhh....Uh.." Star started panicking. "Hoffington is only about half a mile away, maybe we could get help there! RUN!" Star dashed in the opposite direction from the timber wolves. She stopped, did a 360 and shot a bolt of fire through Ace and Swish. One timber wolf exploded, crashing into another, tumbling into the forest. There was still another Timber Wolf to deal with though, and it was closing in. Star turned and kept running, and thought to herself "We can make it."

Rift's eyes widened as he watched the timberwolves attack. His thoughts raced. It couldn't be. But it is. That makes so much sense! Rift smiled. He had found the unicorn he was looking for. She could save this dimension. But before he could talk to her, he needed to go back for those dragons. He hated to admit it but he had grown fond of the two of them. He opened a new rift and stepped out onto a rooftop. Now to begin looking for the dragons.

"Ugh im getting tired now." Aura said yawning. "I usually sleep about 9 hours a day and yet i haven't gotten any sleep all day long." She complained. Dragons did have the tendency to sleep almost as much as they spent awake. She turned to Loro. "Well since we cant find Rift i guess we should just head towards the forest area at least there we wouldn't have to worry about-" She said before spotting something in the distance. On a far-away rooftop she spotted a mysterious figure come out of a rift. "What the?" Aura said somewhat stupefied. "Is that who i think it is?" She said trying to make out who it was despite the distance they were away from it. She could definitely see the rift that it made and it all was clear to her. "It is who i think it is ...it's Rift!" the ice dragon said jumping with joy. "Finally we can get out of here." She said grabbing hold of ore dragon by the arm again and running in the direction. After getting a little closer Aura decided to get Rifts attention unlike before as they were to far away to be heard. "Hey Rift it's us!.....Aura and Loro!" She yelled at him unaware of the changes he had since the last time they saw him.

The short bows of the Wolf Riders we deadly tools of their trade. Each was capable a skewering a pony. But what made it worse was their arrows; they were dipped in a numbing venom sourced from the tails of Manticor's. In a minute you were out cold, in an hour you were dead beyond help. The riders raised their bows as they rode at impressive speeds, their eyes dead set on their targets.

 

"Fire!" Sharaku let his own shot loose.

Rift could only just hear the voice of the dragon. He turned, spotting the dragons, jumped off the building. He used his infected front leg (It couldn't really be called a hoof anymore) to slow his descent. 

"Alright, I know where we are going now. But it is going to be difficult to get there." He had a very serious look on his face. "This wont be comfortable for either of you but I need you to trust me, Your other choice is to walk to Hoofington. Hold onto me and whatever you do; Do, Not, Let, Go." He emphasised the last words.

 

(Insert extra conversation here if either dragon needs convincing) 

 

Once he was sure that both dragons had a firm hold of him he opened a rift and stepped through into the veil. He wouldn't be surprised if either of the dragons threw up after the warp. He found the rift he was looking for and stepped again into the real world. They were in Hoofington. He led the two sick looking dragons to the inn. after securing a room for the dragons he found and purchased a cloak to cover his new arm. He settled into a chair at the inn and waited.

 

(OOC: Rift is now waiting for the rest of the players to reach hoofington, so when you arrive meet up with him in the inn)

Ace was running along side the group when he heard one of the guards yell fire he urned around just to see the arrow knock his glasses off. "Oh great now there firing at us! Watch out!" Ace yelled unknown to him there was a smaal cut near his right eye he didn't dodge fast enough.

Sharaku saw the lone mare stand before them, letting out a laugh at her defiance.

 

"Kill her, Grishnak will catch the others before they reach the city."

 

The Timberwolves began to advance on her, their breath now staining the air. Their riders drew dark iron swords and prepared to finish off the lone target.

 

"Kill her."

Loro staggered about after the warp, before falling flat on his back.

 

"That was a teleport alright..." he said weakly, staring at the room ceiling. Eventually, he gathered enough strength to sit upright. He was alone in a safe location...

 

It was round about time to work out where he was. It sure wasn't a tunnel, the wide open spaces and towering buildings made sure of that.

 

Not to mention of course, the warring city, shadow demons, mammal inhabitants... It made Loro's head hurt to thing of it, and so he decided to turn his attention to the depot machine he'd attempted. It had been a total failure, more dangerous than useful...

 

An idea hit him. Rift's wrist band! How had he not seen it before?! Rift could teleport around, and if he managed to replicate the system then he could get home! But what about his friends? They'd need some help fighting off the bad guys. Loro whirred thoughtfully, then hopped off the bed. He'd need to gather some more materials...

 

The dragon slipped out of the inn unnoticed, and slunk into the town in search of yet more machine parts.

Star was running, running as fast as she can. She was regularly firing bolts back at their pursuers as they retorted with arrows in the hundreds. An arrow zipped by Ace's face and knocked off his glasses. 'This is too close for comfort' Star thought. She then made a decision, a decision hard for even a pony of great will. She stopped and turned to face the attackers, she looked and saw the others slow, "Don't Stop! I'll handle this! I'll see you in Hoofing-" Star yelled to them as an arrow buried itself just below her neck.

Ace yelled chargin right in and tackling the closest guard, he then picked up the sword the guard droped and stood i nfront of Star. "I'VE JUST ABOUT HAD ENOUGH, I WON'T LET ANYTHING HAPPENS TO MY FRIENDS, FAMILY, OR ANYONE DO YOU HEAR ME!" Ace yelled. Knocking a timberwolf back.

"We have fresh pickings, lads. Finish the mare off while I deal with this runt."

 

Sharaku dismounted his Timberwolf Alpha, drawing his curved blade from his side. He gave an eager grin as he strode forward to meet the lone fighter in combat.

 

"Let's see what's really inside of you!" He bellowed as he swung his bade at him in crude, swift motions. The remaining Timberwolf Riders readied their blades to finish off the mare. The situation seemed bleak...

Swish rushed to Star's aid while Ace was... busy. He looked at the wound.

"God, this looks bad..." He admitted until he remembered the real problem.

Swish readied his sword and hopped on one of the Timberwolves. He stabbed the rider on the wolf in the neck and threw him off.

"Let's see what these guys could really do!" Swish yelled as he pulled the reins.

For a few seconds the wolf went insane, until Swish pulled harder on the reins. He obtained full control. Swish pulled the reins to charge at another Timberwolf rider. His wolf scratched and bit the other wolf to shreds. Meanwhile, Swish slashed the rider. When both of the creatures were dead, Swish was impressed.

"Oh, ho, ho! Yes! Now we're talking!" He enthused.

His Timberwolf pounced onto another wolf and bit its throat, leaving it unable to fight.

"Yes, that's right!" Swish yelled, very excited. He looked over to Ace, who seemed to be having a hard time. "Ace! Hold on one second, I'll be right there!" He assured as his wolf obliterated another wolf and Swish stabbed a rider.

Swish began to direct his wolf towards Sharaku. He joined the fight Ace was in, still worrying about Star's wound. Swish pulled the reins, and his wolf pounced towards Sharaku.

[Winona the Dog 1,984]

After coming out of the portal with Rift and Loro Aura was now exhausted. "Ugh that trip through the portal was nauseating." Aura said trying to keep herself steady from being dizzy. She watched as Rift went over to sit down and waited. She asked where they were and he responded back they were in Hoofington Aura was unfamiliar with this area but it didn't matter to her as long as they were in a safe spot."I think i need some sleep." Aura yawned before crashing on a nearby bed. She closed her heavy eyelids and quickly fell into a deep sleep not noticing Loro leaving.

 

The dragon shuddered in the bed as she dreamt as the dreams she was having were not pleasant. "YOU MUST BE STRONGER IF YOU WISH TO CONTINUE LIVING!" A raspy voice in her head told her in her sleep.

 

(That's Aura's alter ego talking to her in her sleep.)

"Ugh..." Star struggled. She looked down at the arrow sticking out of her chest. She then felt the pain, she winced and tried to control her shaking, not wanting to move the arrow head around. She then focused on where the wound was and how she could heal it, she could slowly open the wound more and remove the arrow, but that would cause the most pain, unbearable even. She realized with remorse that she had to do. She used her magic to slowly open the wound and lift the arrow out on onto the ground. After the bloody arrow was out, she sealed the wound with an advanced healing spell. She looked past her hazy vision and saw that Ace was fighting what looked to be the leader, and Swish was riding... a Timber Wolf? that was a bit...un-orthodox. Star then slipped out a few words weakly "Ace...help...please..."

With one slash of Sharaku's sword, the Timberwolf was, of course, reduced to a pile of twigs. Swish fell to the ground.

"Well, I guess I'll go old fasioned from here on out..." Swish whispered to himself as he got up. "Ace, go help Star, I think I can handle this." He said.

Swish tried his best to down his foe with his sword, but couldn't. They were of equal skill, no, Sharaku was better. Swish had to focus more on deflecting and dodging than offense.

Ace was about to run over to her when the guard smacked him on the head with his sword Ace turned around about to attack when he saw Swish. "Swish You can handle him!" Ace said dogin an attack and heading for Star. "You ok?"

Sharaku was frustrated that his foe would cower away behind another. With a solid blow with his hoof he shoved aside Swish, knocking him to the dirt. Turning quickly he saw that the others were having a hard time by themselves. He called to one of his riders quickly.

 

"Sound the horn! We will need Grishnak to win this!"

 

The horn was sounded, the Timberwolf  Riders that lurked in the nearby woods began to growl and hiss. Grishnak lead them from the eves, eyeing his targets readily. There was just too many many of them.

 

But then there was another horn call, not that of the Crystal Empire. The trampling of hooves was heard in the distance, and shrieks went up among the wolves. Sharaku was about to finish off Swish when he looked up to see a company of Guard from Hoofington charging towards them.

 

"Pull back! Get out of here! We'll look for the Rift Tearer another hour! Pull back!"

Swish got up to see Sharaku and his men retreating.

"Heh, well I guess that sword fight was quick and two the point, huh Sharaku?" Swish yelled out to Sharaku, of course not getting an answer.

He found that the Hoofington guard was running towards Star, Ace, and him and others were running after Sharaku.

Swish wasn't in the mood for guards, but he sheathed his sword and began to speak, "We need medical help! We've got wounded!"

30 clad ponies  in silver armor, all bearing spears twice their height. In unison they galloped onto the hill, surrounding the small company in seconds. They were still suspicious of these new comers, unsure of why or where they came from. A larger pony stood forward, his helmet topped with a large red crest. He withdrew his spear as he spoke.

 

"What business does a Pegasi, a Unicorn and an Earth Pony have near Hoofington?" None responded . "Speak quickly."

 

Their were nearly fifty guard surrounding them, each with his spear aimed directly at the group. They were a grim and hard fought bunch, all of them veterans of war against the Crystal Empire. The Timberwolf Riders were right to flee before them.

Loro was surprised to find that the town was inhabited, and his explorations for mechanical parts were cut short. He couldn't risk being seen... Rift had said that this place was safe, but he still didn't trust the ponies that he saw waking around Hoofington. Sticking to the shadows, Loro returned to the hotel. He nodded to Rift as he entered, heading up to the room. Aura was asleep, tossing and turning a little, and so Loro had to remain quiet.

"YOU KNOW YOU CAN'T HOLD IT BACK FOREVER!" The disembodied voice said to Aura in her dream. The dragoness was in the middle of nothing but shadow. She couldn't see anything but pitch black and only that eerie voice was there to accompany or conversate with. "Just leave me alone!"  "I don't want to be ANYTHING like THAT!!!" she yelled at what  seemed nothing but darkness.   "FOOL IT IS YOUR TRUE NATURE YOU CANNOT SIMPLY IGNORE IT!" the voice replied. "YOU MUST EMBRACE IT!" It added its voice getting louder with pitch. Aura simply cowarded with fear and curled up into a ball trembling. "HAHA LOOK AT YOU!" "YOUR PATHETIC"  the voice said laughing Aura winced. "YOU DONT DESERVE YOUR BODY." It said a familiar looking shadowy figure formed right in front of Aura. "Wh-o  are you?" Aura managed to say. "Isnt it obvious!" The voice said chuckling this time it was much quieter and its sounded just like Aura's. The ice  dragoness looked at the shadowy form and she was surprised it looked like a mirror image of her. She gasped. "IM YOU!" It said to  her red eyes glowed. 

 

Aura screamed as she woke up out of her bed quite abruptly. She was breathing heavily .
