Rift nodded. "Take care of those two. They have been through a lot already." He said indicating the Dragons. Turning back to Star he grabbed her hoof with his fore-hoof. "Hold on tight."

He concentrated for a moment before pressing his claw against the air. There was a resistance there that he eventually pushed past the air rippling as a gate opened into a predetermined location in the world. He stepped through, leading Star. The gate closed behind them. leaving no evidence that it had ever existed. They appeared to be standing on nothing. surrounded by the same. He started walking, expecting Star to follow. He waited for her to ask the inevitable question; where were they.

 

"Whoa, we're...*cough* in the everfree forest." Star said coughing, nasueus from the sudden teleport. "We're pretty close to the castle, about two miles I believe." She continued catching up to Rift. "Why did you come to me? why not my mother? I'm plenty sure she could cast this spell, at the same capacity if not better. Speaking of which, what is this spell anyway?" Star asked

"Whoa, we're...*cough* in the everfree forest." Star said coughing, nasueus from the sudden teleport. I'm plenty sure she could cast this spell, at the same capacity if not better. Speaking of which, what is this spell anyway?" Star asked

Rift shook his head. "Look closer the Void is known for playing tricks on those who are not used to it." Around them swirled the expanse of the Void. Empty and full at the same time. "I cannot teach you the spell, I am merely your guide to discovering it yourself. In order to do that you must be able to see the Void for what it truly is. As for your mother should I have gone to her? The spell that sent me to this world is set up so that I come to a specific point. But something threw me off course. As soon as I arrived I tripped over you. I assume that you are the one that pulled me off course and are therefor quite powerful." 

Rift paused, deciding if it was necessary to explain his teleport ability. he nodded once to himself before explaining. "I can only teleport to a location I can see, or after concentration to a previously set up warp point. Sadly there are none near Everfree, the closest being the crystal caves under Canterlot. But that dosent matter. We are traveling through the buffer space between the 2 protective shells of this world. As long as you stick close you will be fine."

 

(OOC: sorry for long post. I ended up having to explain some things that are not clear about Rift. I think after this RP im gonna retire him)

"Alright, while you and Rift are handling that me and Swish can stay and help defend this town, give another kick to Silmor and his army." Ace said giving up on remebering the name. It will come to me sooner or later. Ace thought as his mind was now thinking of the battle ahead.

 

"Right, well we got to go!" Swish told Ace as they ran out of the inn. He stopped himself and Ace upon remembering an important detail. "Hold up, do you even have a weapon? We need to get you one."

Swish ran up to a guard who appeared to be a general.

"We're here to fight, but he doesn't have a weapon." Swish pointed to Ace.

The general pointed to the barracks, where the weapons were held. Swish and Ace ran to the barracks and went downstairs to find four walls, all with weapons on racks. There were swords, spears, maces, shields, bows, and more.

"Well Ace..." Swish started, "Take your pick."

It took but a days march from the Crystal Empire, the armies of Silmor lead with haste. Ranks of  thousands began to appear on the horizon, casting stones at the city walls than traveled miles. By some mystical art many burst into flame, bring homes and markets crashing to the ground. The guard rallied to the cities defense, but they were outnumbered 3 to 1. Victory could only be achieved if they could hold them at the gate, for Crystal Ponies lacked in Pegasi and Unicorns. Bringing forth great battering rams, they hammered the gatehouse, the blows sending tremors through the earth. Suddenly the gate collapsed, the hordes breaking through the defenses. The guard stood ready but they could have never foreseen what they faced. From the gates poured not only Blackcrystal Guard, but Minotaur's as well. Great power houses, clad in heavy plates of hammered steel. They stood not twice the size of any pony, hammering through ranks like paper. Some of the guard dropped their arms and fled, but others held their ground. They would hold them here as long as they could.

 

Grishnak watched from the hilltop as the carnage was carried out, a maniacal grin etched on his face. Silmor would be pleased with his efforts, the city would fall and the Rift Tearer captured. He did not care what stood in his way, so long as he found his prize. Soon he called a messenger to him, giving him his next commands.

 

"Go to Manehattan under the cover of darkness. Spread word that there is a price on the Rift Tearers head. We will burn the lands and kill all in our path unless he is found. If he turns himself in willingly then I will call the advance to a halt. Once you have done this travel back to the Empire and let our lord know of this plan. He will only be too eager to hear of this advancement."

Swish ran up with Ace. The battle looked like it was just getting started. Thousands of ponies were fighting. It would take you forever to even begin to count them all.

"Well, here we go!" Swish yelled as he rushed into the battle, stabbing an enemy soldier while he was distracted, giving the guards some help.

Ace seemed to be holding his own very well since he wasn't fighting like he was earlier, he dodged to the side and smacked the pony on the head with the hilt of his sword knocking him out. "I got one? I got one! Yeah!" Ace's cheer was cut short as he got knocked to the ground by another pony. "Ok fight first cheer later!"

Rift walked further into the empty space beyond the world. Speaking again to his companion, "I cannot bring us to the Everfree just yet. I need to find the right crack to step through. But while we are here I will explain the truth of the Void. It is necessary for the spell." Rift continued to explain how the Void works. After some time he found the crack. "Ah here we are, We simply step through this and we re-enter the normal world."

After the two had stepped through they found themselves somewhere in the Everfree forest. "This is where I take the back seat. Lead on, princess."
