Ace lost his anger when he lifted up Star "sorry, sorry yes we need to get you somewhere safe." Ace said walking up to the guards. "We need help! We got wounded!" Ace then looked over to Swish. "ok I must admit I blacked out when I charged in what happened?" Ace asked.

 

"You picked up a sword and began to fight with Sharaku if that's what you mean. You really flew into a rage." Swish said.

30 clad ponies  in silver armor, all bearing spears twice their height. In unison they galloped onto the hill, surrounding the small company in seconds. They were still suspicious of these new comers, unsure of why or where they came from. A larger pony stood forward, his helmet topped with a large red crest. He withdrew his spear as he spoke.

 

"What business does a Pegasi, a Unicorn and an Earth Pony have near Hoofington?" None responded . "Speak quickly."

 

Their were nearly fifty guard surrounding them, each with his spear aimed directly at the group. They were a grim and hard fought bunch, all of them veterans of war against the Crystal Empire. The Timberwolf Riders were right to flee before them.

 

Swish looked back at Star and Ace as if to confirm what to say. He turned back to the guards, remaining calm.

"We don't mean any harm." Swish felt like he has said this many, many times before... "We're not one of those soldiers that you scared off." Swish smiled, "In fact, we're fighting against them. That's not the point though, one of us got shot by an arrow, and the it's is barbed. She's losing blood by the minute, so we have to get it out and treat is as soon as possible!"

Swish looked back at Star and Ace as if to confirm what to say. He turned back to the guards, remaining calm. "We don't mean any harm." Swish felt like he has said this many, many times before... "We can answer these questions when we reach the city. Ruby, Goldhelm, take this mare to the hospital as fast as your wings may carry you."

 

The two soldiers took Star in their hooves and flew towards the city walls. The commander turned back the the two remaining ponies. "You will come with us. We will see to it your friend is treated, though it would seem she was hit by one of their poison arrows. Whether she will survive... I don't know."

 

The remaining guard lifted their spears, no longer pointing them at the company. "We must get back within the walls. We do not know if the Wolves will return."

"Yeah, I will be going with Star. If you don't mind." Ace took off and catched up with the two soldiers who were carrying Star. "She better be alright, she better be." Ace mutterd to himself, his voice neither happy, sad, or angry it sounded...empty like he didn't know what to feel yet.

Weightless, that was what Star Felt when she awoke. She looked down and saw she was on the backs of two Pegasi, one blue and one light green; to the left was Ace keeping pace with them. "What? where am I?" Star asked Ace cringing at the sight of how high they were. Star Flare was not a fan of heights, she fell from her balcony in the castle when she was a filly her mother caught her before she hit the ground, but ever since she'd been deathly afraid of high places, falling, and worst of all, flying. "G-g-g-get...me d-d-down!" Star said panicking.

Ace flew over to star when she looked paniked "whoa, calm down Star, these guards aint gunna let you fall, why do you look scared don't you know how to fly?" Ace asked with a confused look. "Beside the guards are taking you to the hospital to get that wound treated."

Star giggled at the Pegasus's stumble, though she couldn't help but feeling he was just trying to make her feel better. The pegasi began to descend quickly and Star Flare was weightless for a moment–much to her dismay–and she quickly fell back to the pegasi's back. Below was the Hoofington hospital, the wooden building kept to the rustic forest look of the town. With a log frame and tree decor all over the building. Star Flare sighed with relief and sat her head down to rest as the pegasi descended.

 

As soon as they were on the ground, Star was rushed off to a doctor. Passing other patients who looked like they'd suffered from mercenaries as well. Those Timber-Riders must have occupied this town for a while. Star then felt she wasn't very important any more, her people were.

Rift heard a commotion outside. He went outside to check but he was too late to see the pegasi arrive at the hospital. He asked around and found out that the injured pony was in fact the pony he was looking for. He returned to the inn to wait. These things take time and he wouldn't want to hurt a pony by rushing them into something before they were ready.

He asked around and found out that the injured pony was in fact the pony he was looking for. He returned to the inn to wait. Our meeting was brief earlier." Rift responded He continued to explain why he had disappeared  leaving out the part about his arm, which was hidden beneath his cloak. "I fear that there are dark powers working in this land. One of which seeks to tear it apart. Which is what brought me here. I need to speak to your friend, the fire mage. She is, or knows where to find someone who is, strong enough to heal this dimension."

Sharaku's head burst like a grape under the pressure of Silmor's magic, his lifeless body falling to the tiled floor. The Dark Lord stood from his throne and looked out over the empire from his balcony. Too long had the outlying cities and towns of Equestria evaded his reach, too long had they mocked him. Canterlot was lost to madness, but that did not mean he could claim something from this. The guard would be depleted after the attack, resources worn thin with a tide of refugees. Sharaku had mentioned that they were heading to Hoofington. Perhaps the Rift Tearer was there as well. Kill two birds with one stone; take the city and find the Rift Tearer.

 

"Grishnak!"

 

The Heavy clad second in command stood next to Sharaku's body, giving it an uneasy gaze.

 

"Take the second legion, turn the city to ashes."

 

"Yes my lord."

 

Silmor returned to his dark iron throne, turning back to face the nervous crystal pony.

 

"Do not disappoint me, captain. You have 5000 soldiers under your command, more than enough to bring the city to it's knees. Your failure will not be tolerated. Bring me the Rift Tearer, alive!"

She dreamed of the library, all the books she could ever read, the peace the serenity, everything so...bliss. Then she was ripped away from it, torn back to reality unwillingly by the lessening effects of the medicine. Star sighed softly as she began to regain feeling in her hooves, she thanked the doctors, dropped a couple gold coins-brought from the castle when she fled-in their hooves and left the hospital. She headed down the street and into the inn, where Ace stood next to the Rift pony from the battle at the Crystal Empire.

 

'Strange' Star thought as she walked up to the two colts.

'Strange' Star thought as she walked up to the two colts.

Rift noticed the mare's entrance and moved over to her, offering his shoulder for support. "You should be resting. I may have something of importance to tell you but It will do no good if you kill yourself first." Rift was very careful to keep his right forleg under his cloak, no sense freaking anypony out with his...condition

Swish walked into the inn. He saw Ace walk in here before, so he though he might join him. To his surprise, Star was there, apparently feeling better and out of the hospital.

"Wow, you're feeling better already? That was oddly quick." He said, walking to the group she was in.

Swish made out Ace and another familiar face. He couldn't quite get the name, but he was certain he had seen this pony before.

He turned to the familiar pony, "I know you, don't I? It's... "R" something, right?"

Rift looked around the room. The small group was receiving several stares from the other patrons.

Rift led the way up the stairs and into the room where the two dragons were resting. He turned towards the other ponies and began

"This is a long explanation so I am not sure where to begin..."

 

(Long story short Rift reveals that he is from the Void and explains that the world is falling apart and only a very powerful magician can cast a spell to seal the rifts. Rift can show the magician what needs to be done with the spell, but he cannot cast it himself)

"Wait, wait, wait a powerful magician? Now hold on I think I read something about a powerful Magician but...I can't seem to remeber the name, i'm use to that but now is a good time to remeber that! Gah!" Ace slammed his head on the wall trying to knock some memories back into his head.

"Well normally there would be several options for such a spell. In the past the dimensional guards have gone to Princess Celestia and later one Twilight Sparkle, as well as other rulers for this spell but the only ruler I have met so far may have been the one to cause all this in the first place. Not to mention he was stark raving mad." He ran his claw through his short mane as he considered who could possibly cast the sealing spell. He came up blank, unless Star could but he was still unsure

"But only I can go, The traps in the castle only deactivate to those of royal blood, I will not risk my friends life, but I'll need a guide, Rift can you take me there?" Star asked turning to Rift.

"Alright, while you and Rift are handling that me and Swish can stay and help defend this town, give another kick to Silmor and his army." Ace said giving up on remebering the name. It will come to me sooner or later. Ace thought as his mind was now thinking of the battle ahead.

Rift nodded. "Take care of those two. They have been through a lot already." He said indicating the Dragons. Turning back to Star he grabbed her hoof with his fore-hoof. "Hold on tight."

He concentrated for a moment before pressing his claw against the air. There was a resistance there that he eventually pushed past the air rippling as a gate opened into a predetermined location in the world. He stepped through, leading Star. The gate closed behind them. leaving no evidence that it had ever existed. They appeared to be standing on nothing. surrounded by the same. He started walking, expecting Star to follow. He waited for her to ask the inevitable question; where were they.
