Snips and snails are hated for being stupid.

Well think of all the stupid things the cmc have done, and how naive they are.

Add in the fact that they are approx 7 yrs old and their gender and weigh it against the cmc mistakes, as well as other mistakes from older ponies and suddenly they don't seem so absurdly stupid anymore.

All kids are unbelivibly naive. I swear I could totally see the cmc going for ursa major slayer cutie marks.

Another thing to remember was there complete and utter faith in trixies abilitys and claims. They were positive she could handle anything.

There not stupid, they are just very naive and lack common sense... Like pretty much ALL kids at their age.

But I know some people hate them because they think their 'stupid'.

I really couldnt care less about snips and snails I dont dislike them I dont like them to me they are less important then the rest of the back ground ponys and so far they have only appeared in 8 episodes and in 3 of those they had no dialogue. for they people that do hate them they are going to be in episode 5 but then again so is "the great and powerful trixie" ..... unfortunately.

I don't hate them really, sure they are annoying but so are many other characters. The thing I don't really like is that they are two of the only representations of male characters in the show, and that they happen to be complete idiots.

There's a difference between being naive kids who make errors constantly (CMC), and purposefully being depicted as the 'village idiot(s)' characters, through obnoxious and dumb-sounding voices, appearances, and personalities. Snips and Snails are, quite literally, supposed to be stupid (at least Snails is, Snips not as much) characters that make dumb choices that affect the plot. They can't be compared to the CMC in the same way.

 

But I see where you're coming from :3 I dislike them because they're annoying, though.

I don't dislike them because they are stupid, as they are depicted to be that way, no. I dislike them because I just find them annoying. They are most simply characters put in so the plot can move forward.

Moreso I could see an episode with them as the main characters for once. I mean it'll be like a Beavis and Butthead in a kid's cartoon format. They may end up as heroes for their naivety for once and that could be an interesting turnout. Though I'm not sure male characters in MLP are ever made to be some of the main characters.

I actually like Snips and Snails, however, I do feel we need a few things to balance them out: 1) More male characters that are fairly intelligent (poor Big Mac and Shining Armor just don't get enough screen time) and 2) Some actual character development for Snips and Snails. I'd like to see an episode where they learn an important lesson and maybe even start using magic. But, even if that doesn't happen, I'm still going to love the muffins out of them. Haters gonna hate

Some characters are made intentionally ugly so that they are instantly recognized as unlikable characters.

This isn't shallow, she's simply commenting on the design work and a legitimate and core reason as to why she dislikes Snips and Snails.

Im indifferent towards them, heh. I think there should be an episode where they try to bulk up either Pip or Featherweight <3

at that age i actuallty wasnt very naive but not much else (im werid like that) snips and snails are just a bit annoying to me and i dont really find the cuite mark crusaders naive other than the episode where they didnt speak up (babs seed) i think chasing your talent is like chasing what you wanna do in real life your hobbies what you want your job to be even through it normally happens when your ready its fun to dive in
