Arcus (Silver Lining) Wind 983 December 1, 2012 Share December 1, 2012 (edited) This is my first vector in progress. I'm using Inkscape and I hope I'm doing good so far. Anypony with experience in vectoring, I'd really like to know what you think of it so far. I'd like to know what everyone thinks to. Here is the finished vector. Can someone tell me what file type to use so I can upload a higher quality pic to this site? Descant 1,898 December 1, 2012 Share December 1, 2012 (edited) Well, there are a few places that could be touched up, but I'll give you a break, considering its a WIP. Not to mention your first. I use Inkscape too; How'd you work the layering on this one? What I like to do, personally, is draw a pony, or have someone draw a pony for me, then upload it and trace it with vectors. Generally that provides a good result; Look at Descant and Rose Petal in my sig if you want to see what I mean. I'd like to add, for Inkscape vectorwork, NEVER save it as a PNG, because that'll make it difficult for you to go back and edit it later. PNG's are more reliable. And sometimes, when I'm working with multiple layers, I need to go and touch up a few spots in another program (Usually I just use paint, and usually the biggest discrepancies, for me, appear around the eyes and shading and hairline) Edited December 1, 2012 by Descant Find the Heart of the Jungle! Hazardus_Havard. 479 December 1, 2012 Share December 1, 2012 It's not bad, good for a very first vector. Of course, you DID forget the cutie mark. The lines in her mane, you could try next time to make them fat in certain areas and tip them at their ends. Also, make sure they go along with the mane or tails as they bend. Same with much of the lines in fact. Like on her body or near her back legs. The mane near her neck, it looks awkward to see it shove out that far from the body. Try next time to have it swoop along the neck, it'll feel more natural. What you have here would look great for an avatar, though I strongly recommend you touch up some of the details in it. The cutie mark is a very important part of any ponies persona. Maybe after that you can make more of these with other ponies? I'd like to see a Lyra one myself. Practice makes perfect; but if nobody's perfect, why practice? http://hazardus-havard.deviantart.com/ Art http://www.fimfiction.net/story/70801/an-alien-walks-amongst-us Story

I haven't started vectoring his part a the picture yet. I saved it both as a Sv...something whatever that is a as a PNG. I couldn't up load it as the first one. And I'm planing on countering the lines to,and I think I will change her mane. I was just so excited that I'm acually getting this done I wanted to share my progress, and get some advice. So thank you. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Deviant Art 000Signature Requests000aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaHeadphones on, Volume up, Tune out the world aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaDon't use violence.
