Thunder knew his best chance was to hit Gust hard and fast. Pausing only long enough to catch his breath, Thunder charged into his adversary, ramming him headfirst in an attempt to smash him against the wall of a nearby building. He put all the strength he had left into every step, delivering as much force as he could. Hopefully he would be able to defeat Gust and go help the others.

Gust was slammed into the wall, and collapsed, battered and bruised. He breathed heavily, and looked as if he could barely hold his blade. "Even if I die here, you will not succeed." He managed to stand up once more, and lunged with the last of his might at Thunder.

Meta charged and drew his blade. Upon sensing the demonic aura around the skeleton lord, it began to glow brightly with radiant light. "Begone, foul demon!" He gave the sword a mighty upwards swing, cleaving half of his ribs off, and separating half of his skull off, while the sword sapped the aura surrounding him. He then leaped back, with his sword at the ready, waiting for him to reform.

Star Rain's light whip pulled the staff over to her as soon as Tondrak broke part again. " Thanks, Meta. What should I do with with the staff?" she asked. She then tried a double levitation spell and levitated both her sword and the staff, ready to attack once he reformed again. Trying the same trick that she did with Gust's chains, she froze the staff but then the ice instantly melted away. Figuring this staff was an object of darkness, she charged the staff with her light magic to see what would happen.

Thunder dodged to the left and lashed out with his hind legs, aiming for the blade in an attempt to disarm Gust. "Who are you?", Thunder Shouted,"Why are you doing this?"

 

Thunder was getting frustrated by his adversary's persistence, and he channeled that anger into interrogating him.

Gust flew to the ground, his blade-hoof kicked as well. Gust was defeated, and fell to the ground. "I must admit, you are a better fighter than I had anticipated, I concede." The flames around him roared more intensely. "But be warned, I'm the weakest of the chosen. You'd best just stay out of this."

"Stay out of what? Who are the chosen? Why are you abducting villagers?"

 

Big Thunder was losing his patience. He was tired of all this mystery and secrecy. He was determined to find out what was going on, no matter what it took.

 

Thunder stomped his hoof angrily and glared at Gust, waiting for answers.

The blaze overtook Gust further, and he began to fade. A strange, dark purple aura faded from him, and he seemed to lose his anger. A sudden look of fear appeared on his face. "Where am I? Topaz?" He looked over at Topaz, collapsed on the ground. "Topaz! What the hell happened to you? Where are we?" He then looked towards Thunder. "Listen, whoever you are, I don't have much time. Am I still within Canterlot? Does Flare still hold the throne of Canterlot?"

"King Flare died centuries ago. What happened to you? Just a minute ago you were trying to kill me. This isn't Canterlot either, this is Trottingham, and the villagers have been disappearing, presumably abducted by the people you were working for."

 

As confused as Thunder was, he got the feeling this stallion was even more lost than he was.

For a breaf moment, the light spell broke the darkness in Tondrak's staff. But the dark ora allmost immediatly returned. Tondrak reassembled, and now looked very angry. "Enough of this!" Tondrak teleported inbetween Star Rain and his staff. He grasped his staff and did a 360 turn while shooting fire from his staff, setting most of the magic shop aflame. They fire was heading towards, Meta knight and Star rain.

Star Rain was paralyzed at first, but then she gathered a big chunk of her magical strength to cast a powerful water shield spell, extinguishing some of the fire around them. It surrounded her and Meta Knight just like the other shield that protected Thunder and her, except it was a dome of water. She then managed to cast a light orb spell at Tondrak. As the orb of light travelled, Star Rain used her sword to drag some spell books and amulets toward her that haven't been burned. She figured the owner of this magic shop would love it if she saved some of their stuff.

Meta Knight growled and summoned a wave of water, dousing the store. Then, with a flip, he opened his bat wings and began to flap to create a stream of air. The he created balls of superconcentrated air which carried themselves along the stream of air wicked fast, demolishing anything that came into it's path.

"​My name is Gust Winds. Last I remember I was in Canterlot, fighting for our freedom. If King Flare is dead, I have to assume one of us was successful.  "

 

"Gust? It's really you?" added Topaz, who had managed to get back up. "I thought for sure you and Cerulean were lost to Sin!"

 

"Yes old friend, we were. He's undoubtedly back, this is the same energy as before." 

 

The blaze of energy overtook Gust, and his legs started to fade. He saw to the confused look on Thunder's face.

 

"It seems Topaz has been holding out information on you. He knows more about this than anyone, being a first hand witness."

Tondrak tryed to counter the wind with a powerful fire spell, but meta's wind broke through. At the last second Tondrak used a weaker wind spell to deflect meta's wind to the side, destroying one side of the building. Tondrak walked out of the building and onto the grass. He stabbed his staff into the ground. "I claim this city, in the name of my new found ally, king flare!" Threw out the city of Trottingham, the green grass began to turn yellow and die, his staff was absorbing the very life of the landscape.

Meta Knight growled. May a curs be on necromancy and all that practice it! "I, Riloquequ, guardian of this fair land and destroyer of evil, claim this land for Celestia, my liege and ruler of the Empire of Equestria!" He slammed his sword into the ground, filling the land with energy that Tondrak was taking from it. The grass turned green again, and he became locked in a power struggle with Tondrak.

"Aww, dammit!" Collision cried in annoyance at the sight of what had befallen the town in his absence. There were flames roaring, broken buildings, fighting ponies...

 

Thoughts circled his head quickly;

Stay and fight

Stay and hide

Run away...

 

Eventually, his conscience got the better of him, and Collision leapt into action. True to his name, he bounced and collided along the main street, dodging blades, wayward spells and the hooves of the undead. A particularly potent bounce propelled him into the air, and the kid landed on the roof of a burning building. He stretched out, looking for his friends. There was too much going on! It was damn near impossible to make out anyone, let alone the good guys.

Thunder heard crash and turned to see someone landing on the roof of a building behind him. After a moment he recognized the young colt from earlier. 

"Collision! Where did you run off to? It's dangerous here, come to me so that I can protect you. We need to catch up with the others"

 

Turning to Gust he said,"Now isn't the best time to talk. If you have the strength left, you can come with us. It's probably safer than staying here alone."

Collision looked down to see Thunder standing beneath him. "Thunder!" he cried happily then, hesitating a little, "Umm... I dunno how to get down... not even sure how I got up here..." he brightened suddenly, "But I can be a scout and stuff! I'll roof-jump and keep an eye out for bad guys!"

"Alright, just promise me you'll be careful. I don't want to see you get hurt- none of us do. Look around; can you see Meta and Star Rain anywhere? I think they went somewhere in that direction.", Thunder said, pointing in the direction that he'd last seen Star Rain going.

Gust managed to stand back up, with the help of Topaz. The darkness around him subsided, and he seemed to regain some strength. Gust leaned upon Topaz to keep his balance. Gust grabbed his blade off the ground, and prepared it in case anything else came his way. Topaz prepared his magic as well.

Star Rain followed Meta Knight and Tondrak out of the building. She was shocked at the grass turning yellow and dead and then green and full of life again. She could tell they were locked in a struggle of some kind. To make things easier for Meta Knight, she charged his blade to make it more powerful and then she used her light whip to pull the staff away from Tondrak again. It was much harder than last time because it's now planted in the ground. It technically became a game of tug-of-war for her.

Collision squinted across the town. "Is that them? Nah... that's a fire..." he squinted some more. "Hang on... I think that's them over there! I'll have to get a bit closer though.."

 

Without warning, the colt jumped from the roof onto the roof in front of him, and continued down the street in this manner, jumping the gaps between buildings. "Yeah!" he called back to Thunder and Gust, "That's them! But there are three of them... maybe the other one's a villager, can't really see him from here. They're in a grassy bit not far from here. I think they must be charging magic, cause they don't seem to be moving much..."

 

He looked down to Thunder happily. "Man, I'm an awesome scout! I should get an award..."

"Good job, Collision, you've been very helpful. Now we should hurry and catch up to them. If they're charging magic, it's probably something important. Let's see if there's anything we can do to help them." Thunder hurried after Collision, checking behind him to make sure Gust and Topaz didn't get left behind.

Tondrak was holding his staff, struggling agaisnt both meta knight and Star Rain."That wont work agaisnt me twice." He pulled his staff out of the ground and destroyed the light whip. The ground was now being powered by meta knight. From behind Tondrak, approached Thunder and the others. Tondrak was now surrounded. "Well it looks like im outnumbered...Enjoy your short victory while it last's because i will be back, with an army strong enough to take over all of Equestria. I will take everything you all hold dear and ill burn it to the ground." Tondrak opened a portal heading into the mountains and steeped through it.

Thunder quickly approached Meta and Star Rain. He didn't know what he had just seen, but hopefully someone could explain it to him. 

 

"Hey, guys, what just happened? Wasn't that the guy who led them here to attack the village? Anyway, are you both alright? This is Gust, he might be able to help explain everything that's going on."

Star Rain was thrown back when her whip was destroyed. She shook her head and looked up to see Thunder and Collision. At the sight of the blue colt, she almost wanted to become her cheery self. However, she had an important question to answer. "That skeleton , the guy who led the attack, got back his staff and he became a huge pain in the flank when he got it. It was like a key to his power or something!" she answered. Star Rain continued on,"Me and Meta fought him and sad to say, that skeleton destroyed a huge chunk of the shop." She looked at the wet, burnt shop with all its destroyed magical artifacts except for the amulets and the books she had saved and stored away in her bag. "Then, I don't know what was happening, but Meta and the other guy started having a power struggle of some sort. It was like they were fighting over whether or not the plant life gets to live or die," she said. She then laid the rescued stuff from the shop on the ground. "I should return these when I get the chance," she said to herself. Then she noticed a torn piece of paper sticking out from one of the books. It was the torn page from her mythology book!
