My Little Pony Comic volume 2 (Spoilers)

So the new MLP comic, came out today and I want to talk about it. Going to talk about what is going on, but I well try not say everything.

 

The cover I got was with Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash. Pinkie Pie is holding a gun which is firing a boxing glove at her and there are 3 cutie spiders. One has a small party hat and a small pink balloon.

 

In this one the mane 6 are still making their way to Queen Chrysalis castle, so they can save the CMC. They have to go threw a cave in this one because it's the fastest way. When the enter the cave they are attacked by a troll (not kidding). The troll does not attack them, but he just starts playing with them like toys. They do get away from him.

 

At Queen Chrysalis castle, the evil queen is watching the 6 with her crystal ball. Just like in the wizard of oz. She then sends out her changelings to the cave.

 

When the changelings get their, they separate the group so only 2 are with each other. Pinkie Pie with Rainbow Dash, Rarity with Applejack, and Twilight with Fluttershy. The Changelings then turn into the 6 and make them think that each one hates each other for some reason. Kinda like what Discord did in return of harmony.

 

The 6 are than attacked by giant spiders. Like with the troll they get saved and get out of the cave. However they are all still mad at each other and they each goes their own way. Applejack and Rarity leave saying they will save their sisters, Twilight and Fluttershy teleport way, and Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash just head into a forest.

 

Overall I liked this one. Like I said, it does remind you of Discords plan in "Return of Harmony." Still Chrysalis does come up with a pretty good plan to make them hate each other and it's going to take more than a memory spell to fix it. So Chrysalis is one of the more smarter villains in the show. Can't wait for the next one

 

What I liked about this one.

 

The cave reminds me of Lord of the Rings. Seeing a troll in this world was just funny and if you look at his toys, you will see an Optimus Prime toy. Pinkie Pies mane deflates like in "Party of One." The spiders kinda look like ponies. Seeing as they all have odd marks on them. One of the Spiders looks like Derpy, which is kinda funny. Last the villains plan was really good.

 

What I hate.

 

Just one thing. The CMC. My Celestia they are so annoying in this. If you thought Pinkie Pie was acting dome in "Over a Barrel" this make the CMC seem like morons. They're in danger right now and all they can think about is their stupid cutie marks. Don't they know that they could die if no one comes for them. That is the only thing I can say I don't like about this.

 

So what does everyone think of the comic and what do u like or dislike about it?

 

Also I think we should have a comic board area like we do with the shows. So we can talk about likes and dislikes, and what cover we got.

I like how they've done Chrysalis' awesome diggs. I much prefer the Eastern European gothic castle than to the baseless fanon hive or hive-mind. Yeah, I've gone on about that plenty of times, but I hate the hive-mind idea. Why? Mostly because of how much it limits what you can do with the changelings in terms of writing and story. A hive-mind or them all being her children takes away the ability to show Changelings as individuals and their own groups of friends and family. So I will say I am glad they are not going in that direction.

I also like Chrysalis castle to, but I think we need a little more info before saying the Changelings have minds of their own. Not saying your wrong, I just feel we need to see a little more of them. Like if they do have a town and shows them with families, then I think we can say that aren't a hive-mind.

It's enjoyable for what it is and I do like what they're doing with Chrysalis, she's cool. The fact that the 6 could be so easily split up and turned against each other and the way the CMC are acting feel a bit out of place. Apart from those though, the comic is nicely done with plenty of references and is just a nice little story on the side.

I'm afraid that what we all have to accept when it comes to a changeling plotline, a certain amount of obliviousness or downright idiocy is required for the sake of keeping the plot going. Them getting into an argument is mainly just a plot device. With the Changelings, whose whole schtick is deception with the use of their shapeshifting abilities, it's pretty hard to utilize that if the characters become too savvy.

I mean, take the wedding episodes, for example. If the writers had Celestia as smart as she usually is, then it is most likely the episode would have ended it before it could even begin, so for the sake of the plot, I think they HAD to reduce her IQ points a bit. It's not even really the writers' fault, to be honest. Overall, the problem lays with using these types of villains and how hard it is not to fall into the cycle. In this sense, it's far more sensible to have Discord reform than him just continuing the cycle of Released>>Take over the world>>Stoned>>Repeat.

The troll was very funny. He's like a brony, but not very smart. I'm not a very big fan on the comic series in general, though. Especially how it's in many parts, unlike the show. But I love Pinkie Pie, she looks even cuter than in the show!
