I now know what friendship means

About...a year ago, I suppose, I met a friend on World of Warcraft. We hit it off pretty well, but then that friend...kind of disappeared from WoW for a while. I eventually saw a character with the same name on the opposite faction, so I whispered her and asked if it was the same person, which it was.

She explained to me that something (which will remain unnamed) happened between her and a hardcore raiding group in the game that eventually shamed her from the server. She didn't want to go back to the Alliance (one of the factions, they can't speak to the other faction) because of them. I coaxed her back there and now she's much more comfortable.

However, honesty and loyalty are two of the aspects of friendship. I first broke loyalty by whispering one of the people in said group about the incident, just off of pure curiosity. I then broke honesty when I didn't tell her until...oh, about a week ago. When I did, it was...more of a side note. I didn't think it would affect her this much. But she said she was so shocked that she didn't know what to say. I knew I really bucked up.

I really, really thought I was going to lose a friend and she would leave WoW. I was...worried for her, in general. I suddenly understood the severity of what I did. I apologized for doing that, then...started just...winging it, I suppose. I really didn't know what to say, either. I hold my friends in high regard. I absolutely hate the idea of making a friend of mine cry.

Eventually, things got...okay. We started talking again after she told me she was a Brony. Then I started helping her with her characters some and she started helping me. Things got better, and she forgave me for that masive breach of trust. Yet the group that started that incident kept coming up in conversations and it would just...bum her out to the point where she would quit in the middle of a dungeon.

I kept telling her to "love and tolerate", which I've always interpreted as "If you can't love it, then tolerate it". She can't love that group, I can't ever see her forgive them, and for good reason. Yet no matter what I said, it didn't seem like anything got through. She hated them with a passion. She wanted to go out of her way to make fun of them, at first, but then grew...tired of it, I guess. I honestly didn't think I helped much.

Then, one day, she asks me for my e-mail address for a Christmas present. I give it to her, thinking it's a link to a video, or some picture she drew.

Nope.

She bought me the newest expansion for the game. Turns out I got through to her quite a bit.

We've always had laughter. We were pretty good at giving eachother gifts in-game. Neither of us were ever cruel to eachother. But I breached both loyalty and honesty. After patching that up, our friendship is back together, stronger than ever.

It's not about the gift. That's great, yeah, (and I can finally make a monk, heck yeah) but it's more about what it symbolizes. If I didn't try to help my friend, then none of this would have happened.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is about love and tolerance. Many of us are good at remembering to tolerate those we can't love, but you also must remember to love those close to you. What started as a loose friendship ended up in one of the tighest friendships I've ever had.

Remember, Bronies, never stop loving your friends.

That story was very impacting!!!! Thanks for sharing this! Friendship is honestly one of the most important things anyone could ever ask for in life, and some people just take it for granted. I'm glad you have such a great friendship!  :)

I honestly am having a hard time finding words to say, and I think right now, all I can do is agree with your story's message.

Wow that was a very good and meaningful story you posted. That is what this show is all about respect love and tolerance towards all the haters out there. I really enjoyed what I read and I'm glad you two are friends again. That is a very good thing that you said you're sorry for the error you made.

No, no, it's not about haters at all. That's the "tolerance" part. This is more about the "love" part, which gets less practiced. :P

(And I'm four characters under the minimum...)

If you cannot love, tolerate.

Find your way to do it.

Its not something that makes you weak.

Its something that makes you strong.

Something to make you calmer.

Something to make you happier.

Stop the hate.

Love, and tolerate.

(What)

Something my mom has to learn -_-

I agree with the poem you said Feather Gem. My family respects me for my choice's of shows I like a lot. The love and tolerate it very much and I'm thankful for that. And ah true love needs to be in everyone. Sad thing is a lot people don't try to love you for any of those things.

I am glad you patched things up with your friend, we all make mistakes I have done many things in the past I am not proud of. It can be easy sometimes to take certain friends and even family for granted and nearly all of us have done it on a few occasions, I have had a couple of disagreements with my mother that nearly ended in me kicking her out of my life. One of them was about a family decision I felt was wrong and another one was a decision I made which almost got me fired and almost drove me to sue my employer.

This, this is why I always say: Friendship indeed IS magic. It is great that you apply the elements of harmony in real life just like me. This was a truly touching story.

Lol, like years ago ( probably 2.5, don't remember clearly), I used to play Runescape like crazy. I met some guys and we talked a bit. I thought they were my friends. One of them asked me for money and I gave him half of my bank. He ended up scamming me over 200 000 gp. Never went to play that game again after realizing what the community was. A bunch of greedy horsebuckers. >.<

Friendship is nice.

Friendship perfect.

Sometimes it has its perks and sometimes it has disadvantages.

I once had a frienship with this guy at the english institute, i thought we were friends. However little did i know that the friendship was one-sided, i appreciated him but it seemed that i meant nothing him. Then i realised what had happened and so it ended.

What i always say is keep your friends close, but your enemies closer, that way you can tell who appreciates you and who doesn't. And remember, quantity doesn't mean quality.

I really love stories like this, sadly I wish I could have this sort of magical experience. Makes me feel a little jealous....  but not too much. x3 Thank you for sharing!

Well...I can't reall say "no, you don't", because I did learn a lot from this, but...you don't want your friends to be sad. :P

(And I cannot guarantee that you will get free video games if you piss off a friend, then win them back. >.>)
