How will Keep Calm and Carry On handle the rest of the Mane Six?

One thing I'm actually concerned about in the upcoming episode is the way the Mane Six, minus Fluttershy will be handled? Obviously, they're not gonna be too keen on Discord coming back, let alone being charged with reforming him, but as the main aim of the episode is to do just that and thus the audience is going to be on Discord's side, I am then concerned as to how the ponies will be portrayed as a result.

Basically, what I fear happening is what you see in other shows, where the episode is so blatantly one-sided against those in opposition, here the other Mane Six. The episode could very easily end up demonizing them/making them out to look like jerks because of their opposition to the idea of reforming him, especially without reference to the wider context. It would seem the moral is going to be about second chances and that even the worst of people can change and that others should be open to it and at least willing to give that chance. But the problem is that with the Mane Six and Discord, it is no way near as black-and-white as that because of how much Discord has hurt them all personally. The message could end up basically saying;

'The rest of the Mane Six were wrong because they were not willing to immediately, right away totally forgive and reform Discord, who only tried to take over the world, mentally tortured them and nearly obliterated their friendship! SHAME-ON-THEM!'

And for me, that would be extremely unfair. This isn't some ex-con or petty crook, this is DISCORD! Hell, even Chrysalis I think would get a better deal from the mane six if this was her episode instead.

All I want is for the Mane Six's feelings and perspectives to be taken into account or at least acknowledged in this, instead of simply saying "no, they were wrong. Bad ponies, bad!" I mean, imagine the mental torture and scarring they went through at the hands of this wicked spirit and how they went through to turn him back to stone. Now, Celestia is basically going all, "No, buck that", and not only freeing the spirit, but having them be the ones to reform him.

... That is like getting kicked in the groin with a steel boot and having McDonald's coffee thrown in your face at the same time. Of course they're gonna be peeved!

They will be untrustworthy, Fluttershy will come in though and become Discords friend.  The others are shocked at this development.

They will all be on edge, like I said in another thread it will be like Katara and Zuko when he returns.  The mane 6=Katara.  They won't trust him, but they will listen to Fluttershy's reasoning.

I don't know if Twilight would be bigoted enough to shun Discord rather than work towards forgiving him. She isn't the one to harbour grudges no matter who it is. If it is apparent that a spirit of disharmony can be reformed, then hey, Twilight will pounce at that kind of opportunity like no other. Doesn't mean that she'll go in defenseless so to speak but the amount of people underestimating her character is a strange sight to see.

I have no bloody idea how this episode is supposed to work. I'm not really a fan of bringing back Discord, but this seem to be a particularly bad way to bring him back. Are they supposed to go back to his childhood and psychoanalyze him? Do they mercilessly barrage him with friendship speeches until his soul can bear no more? Is the Care Bear Stare going to be employed?

He seems like a particularly bizarre villain to be trying this stuff with. He's fun and cheery. He clearly loves throwing chaos around and making a mess. He's not one of those emo villains who wants to ruin the world because he's miserable and bitter. His dystopia is filled with bright colors and candy treats. Granted he's (from the perspective of a pony) EVIL, but that's because he views the world as his playground and not because he bears any real malice to anyone.

But yeah, I think the moral is really going to be "forgive right away, no matter what!" and that this episode will be worse than Mare-do-Well. If we're really going to go down this road, it should be something where Discord has to work for and earn forgiveness. He did wrong by others and the onus is on him to prove that he's reformed. It could be a scenario where Fluttershy is slipping him tips and offering him encouragement in this endeavor. It's not a great plot or anything, but it's about the best I can come up with from what seems plausible right now.

There have already been episodes for almost every single member of the Mane Six that made them look like jerks.

Twilight: Owl's well that Ends well (She was kind of harsh on Spike)

Applejack: Apple Family Reunion

Rainbow Dash: (Several episodes really)

Rarity: Sonic Rainboom

So there's really nothing to fear.

One way that they may not be portraide as jerks is that they don't trust Discord. But because they are concerned with Fluttershy's safety they may end up following them. You know keeping an eye on them to make sure everything is fine. This portrayal may not make them not look like jerks, but it would show that they have concerns for their friend.

But then againe we have no idea how the episode is going to play out, so we have to wait and see.

A bunch of very plausible and interesting possibilities have been brought forth for how this episode could work very well.

I think your going into this with far too much negativity. It is my experience that when you do that you tend to latch on to any negative thing you can find and will enjoy the episode far less than would despite how good it turns out to be. I have caught myself doing this with movies and show episodes all the time. On second viewing I like many of them and wished I had been able to enjoy them on my first viewing. Any episode has the potential to be great or not, but going in with high or low expectations has the potential to severely warp our perceptions of an episode.

Discord isnt evil as Nightmare Moon or Chry, He just trolls people, He more of a troll than a villian, Hes like a villian version of Pinkie Pie. I dont think the other ponies will call mane six jerks, Discord might not even become *Good* in this episode
