But....but I....Ugh. Now I feel like that time somebody told me about that time somebody told them they hadn't seen Star Wars. Not to the same extent, obviously, but it's the same feeling. I suppose now I'm going to be told that nobody much remembers Slayers either and/or wasn't born back then. Or Beastwars. These are....okay, they aren't classics, but everyone's seen them, right? No? What did the younger generation even watch if it wasn't the same stuff I did? I suppose someday Bronies going to dig their memorabilia out and their kids will be baffled and confused. It'll be like trying to understand the appeal of the Monkees or KISS or whatever.

You can worry about the fandom dying when the latest entry in Equestria Daily is Sethisto saying that he's working on some other stuff, but he'll be back in a couple weeks. And that was upwards of six months ago. I've seen some tumbleweed fandoms and this ain't one of them. Most fandoms are lucky to be as active in their prime as this one is in it's downtime. I mean, heck, when's the last time you heard ReBoot or Captain N discussed? Or Sonic SatAm? And those aren't even obscure or anything.

As mentioned above, she was making this happen: But it was cut due to time. And, yes, I simply did not feel that this thread was complete without the inclusion of pink Luna. Maybe Rarity will get to give the Princess of the Night a proper makeover in Season 4.

I do like Celestia. Her role as a authority figure is used to much better effect here than in most other kids' shows. She doesn't lecture (except that one time), she doesn't exposit the moral (except that other one time, kind of), and she isn't the idiot in charge who exists so that the underdog can have somebody to righteously rebel against and show up. More positively, she seems very approachable and tones down the formality where possible. But she also manages to have a regal presence. She really seems like it makes sense for her to be in sole charge of a country. More interestingly, we saw her utterly botch things at the wedding. Whatever the mechanics of the situation, she took a side that was wrong and picked a fight that she lost. Which is in stark contrast to her usual depiction as an always-right perfect Mary Sue. We also got to see her rattle sabers with Discord after he outmanuevered her. These kinds of scenes hold more weight when Celestia is normally on top of things. I kind of hope they play with the doubt they create; for all of her hero worship, Twilight has seen first-hand that Celestia's schemes can fall apart and has a reason to ignore or reject her mentor's advice if it seem inappropriate. Whereas with most Yoda-type figures, the advice is always right. Here, there isn't that kind of certainty and it could go either way.

I would have them go their separate ways as they go off to pursue their individual goals. Not that their friendship is over, but that they are going to be more distant from one another from now on as they establish lives of their own. Essentially, close the book on these six as a group. There doesn't necessarily need to be one last villain to defeat or an obstacle to overcome.

This I would like to see. At some point, Twilight needs to step out of her mentor's shadow and be her own pony. If I could, I'd make this a two-parter or even a movie. The way Celestia would handle something and the way Twilight should aren't always the same thing, if only because they are good at different things. If she constantly tries to imitate Celestia in every way, she's going to be miserable and feel trapped in inferiority. And it would be a very easy trap for her to get into.

I'm *kind of* on board with a Twilight roast if it's Pinkie's idea. But a roast - like mockery in general - works best on a dignified target. Publicly dragging bookish, humble Twilight through her most humiliating moments strikes me as mean spirited. If she started getting self-important, that'd be something else. I'd rather see Rarity, Rainbow, or Celestia be roasted.

I prefer to go with the view that Twilight mostly managed on her own and it was in part to her being one of the Bearers of the Elements. Celestia's guidance was helpful, but not necessary.

Luna might be worried that Twilight is sort of becoming her replacement, that Celestia basically trained Twilight as a substitute Luna.

Corrupting Twilight, eh? Whether another character works on her - or she falls herself - there has to be something that she wants or someone she hates enough to go to extremes. Luna became corrupted through resentment of Celestia. Sunset Shimmer became corrupted (I'm assuming) because she became prideful and Celestia came down on her for it. One avenue I can see is her almost desperate desire to please Celestia. Let's say some mess comes up and Twilight seizes on it as an opportunity to prove herself. But she gets in over her head and needs bailing out. This is where Nightmare (or whoever) steps in with assistance, no strings attached. Twilight could go running to her friends or mentor for help, but that would mean a loss of face. So she accepts and receives praise for dealing with whatever it was that needed dealing with. But it leads down a road where she is more and more reliant on the advice and powers of her temptor. There'd be an eventual breaking point with her friends and mentor, but she's essentially corrupted at this point. Alternatively, there's a backdoor route where she pretends to give in to the dark siders, learns and masters their secrets, and then disposes of them. And then expects to be honored by Celestia for her loyalty. Naturally, Celestia and her friends find her deceit and treachery kind of repugnant - even if it was in their benefit - and don't give her the kind of unadulterated praise she was hoping for. Otherwise, she might let her position go to her head. She's the Element of Magic, one of - if not the most - powerful unicorns in history even before elevation and has had praise showered on her for her accomplishments. She's also now Celestia's equal and may decide that her mentor doesn't measure up to what she idolized her to be. This would be especially so if she succeeds at something Celestia failed at. Or she might get to feel what Luna felt at being constantly overlooked as a second-tier Princess.

Trixie was just running the classic strongman routine. She shows off obnoxiously, which forces local egos up onto the stage. At which point she utterly humiliates them. There's nothing remotely intended to be fair about it. The entire point is that the non-egos get to see someone who thinks they are so awesome be put to shame. How many Ponyvillians secretly wanted to see show-offs like Rainbow Dash or Rarity mocked and rendered helpless? Trixie's real flaw is that her smug self-worship is real. She carries it into the backstage. That's no good. I was pretty surprised at how hostile everyone was when she returned. They weren't sneering at her when she ran off. Twilight didn't see her as some sort of nemesis when she left. I don't know if Pinkie even met her. If they wanted to reasonably establish that she was the bad guy, it might have made more sense to have the Mane Six be friendly and have the hostility from her side.

I think there's an essential component of forgiveness that's being missed: contrition. A character has to be sorry for what they did, commit to not doing it again before asking for forgiveness. And forgiveness can only be asked for, it cannot be demanded. Otherwise the risk is run of a character being bullied into forgiving someone, which destroys the whole point of it. This could also become the plot of an episode at some point.

Remember that a horse leg contains both the knee/elbow and the ankle/wrist. One bends forwards and the other backwards. It's just an issue of animation that the joints get moved up and down the legs so much.

With four seasons, it's already relatively long-lived. It's already beat out G1 MLP series and is set to beat the original Star Trek. That said, I very highly doubt it will become the next Spongebob or Simpsons. Maybe five seasons? I don't know. Heck, I'm surprised there's going to be a Season four. FiM feels like one of those shows that gets cancelled too early and the fans bitterly commiserate about all the potential that was lost. Except that now we're going to have upwards of ninety episodes, so maybe that's not a justified feeling any more.

I'm pretty sure Faust said she was locked up in the sun. It would explain why Nightmare was so overconfident; she'd already won. If Celestia was still at large, it would be Nightmare's #1 priority to go after her.

That sounds like somebody else's problem. Princess Celestia doesn't need to personally swoop in whenever Big Mac takes a five-minute break from bucking apple trees. Why should Twilight? I suppose she could recruit Trixie. She's pretty good with a whip and they're friends now, so that should work out.

There are poor people in big, important cities. Is everyone in D.C. or London rich? We also don't have any idea how educational funding works in Equestria. Considering the school's title, it seems to be that if you qualify, they want you. I doubt Celestia wants Equestria's geniuses grubbing in the mud, plotting revolution. I can't really justify any special reason why Twi would've had a royal foalsitter beyond Cadance choosing her at random, unless we're going the Chessmasterlestia route. Even the extreme upper nobility would be hard-pressed to land her on purpose. On Shining's end of things, the military has always been the route for those of low birth to ascend the stairs of power. Many a military ruler has come from the back of beyond. My headcanon has it that the Guard is a sink for those ponies with military-type cutie marks. There isn't much call for combat skills in peaceful Equestria, so there needs to be something for them to do so they don't turn into bandits or something. Shining's position may not be all that prestigious. Odds are, they are somewhere Middle Class. Most ponies in Equestria seem to do fine for themselves and I don't think Twi's family is any exception.

It's the same double-standard we have with the rich in real life. We despise the examples of wastefulness and greed, but we still aspire to have all the stuff they get to have and be on TV and whatnot. What could Rarity hope for if there were no snobby, exclusive, upper-class types? I kind of doubt the nobility have any real power. If they did, they'd be doing stuff instead of lolling about throwing away their inheritances on varying forms of self-indulgence. Their dynasty-building ancestors must be rolling over in their (finely decorated) graves.

While I don't see putting Twilight on the throne as a good idea in case of Solar Alicorn Failure, I can see putting her in charge of figuring out how to get the sun raised with a pack of unicorns. That seems more her speed.

Why do they have to crash it? Why not have Celestia invite most of the rogues' gallery and let the Mane Six run the thing. With the exception of the Big Bads, none of them are wanted criminals or anything. It's not as though they are Celestia's rogues. There'd be a little blurb for each one about some bizarre circumstance or accomplishment that made inviting them politic.

I wouldn't want to see her metamorphize unless it's some kind of flash-forward or if she's in a successor series. She should probably be left be for now.

The creators squeezed the concept for all it was worth. The concept didn't really contain much in the way of potential, but what was there was used. To be much improved, it would've had to be a different movie.

I would like to see this. I feel very strongly that a good opening plot involving Princess Twilight would have her try to live up her idealized concept of Celestia. That just as her mentor is a powerful, self-contained guardian, so should she be. (Insert aspirational song here) So she starts deliberately isolating herself and eventually decides to go solo against some danger or challenge. She gets in way over her head and needs her friends to bail her out.
