Bendy 1,821 January 7, 2013 Share January 7, 2013 (edited) When you read a fan fiction do you like the characters in character or out of character? I personally like the characters in character like from the show itself. I find turning the characters into a killers and cannibals just stupid. Now, I can deal with slightly out of character scenarios like romance (shipping) and whatnot. ~Lawful Sturdy Wing~ 522 January 7, 2013 Share January 7, 2013 So what you are saying is you hate cupcakes? Congratulations you have joined the rest of the brony community. Cupcakes is only popular in isolated sections, most of us view it as what it is. Poorly written, overtly gruesome and just all around bad. It's bad bad bad bad, just just bad bad bad... bad
duidamasterXD 9,627 January 7, 2013 Share January 7, 2013 I've found that when reading a fanfic, realistically I'm going to have to put up with a degree of OOCness by default, unless the writer is someone amazing like Cloudy Skies or Donny's Boy. Given that I love reading fanfics I've built up a tolerance to this. Sometimes having a character act a bit differently than they normally would can be fun, but however there comes a time when I say to myself "No, this character would never do this, I'm done." I'm more likely to tolerate OOC moments in something that is really well written though.
Kamil 315 January 7, 2013 Share January 7, 2013 Why do you hate us so? Just kidding, I'm sure that's something entirely different. I doubt a lot of people really prefer to read about characters they legitimately like already, except nothing like that. I mean, nothing against the people writing it (though if they're that desperate for violence they might need some help rather than just a peaceful outlet) but seriously? This space intentionally left blank.
NavelColt 22,883 January 7, 2013 Share January 7, 2013 In character. I write in character (and have been told I'm very good at it), and that's what I expect to read. I don't mind OOCness with fics that are made to be funny, but for most fics I want things to be as in character as possible. The point of fanfics for me is to expand the fandom, not create mini individual 'alternate universe'-feeling stories that have characters not acting like themselves.
ShyForever 284 January 9, 2013 Share January 9, 2013 I only read Fan Fictions whose characters are, well, in character. That's what makes a good story. Especially in the My Little Pony series. If I wanted to read a story with characters who are 'out of character', I'd go read something not pony-related.
Teddiee 12 February 16, 2013 Share February 16, 2013 I like to read in character. :II I haven't read that much pony fics except Rainbow Factory and Cupcakes. And thats because I heard alot about it and they're pretty short stories. I dont think cupcakes is that bad. I make alot of references to it when roleplaying. o_o But I think the reason why I liked it was because of its lunacy, even though it pretty much had most of the bad points of a story I would not read. I read it anyway because I was curious as to what this 'oh-so cupcakes that gives you nightmares'. It wasnt that bad. A bit insane. But not to the point it'll give you nightmares. I think I get pretty scared when I watch PewDiePie play video games because those video games are scary. O.O Anyway.. I'll stop with my opinions..XD // Likes to be reffered to as a brony, even though she is a girl. // Instagram: xpinkiepie and hatofiria_lucy // Tumblr: luminouswallflower and teddyxfire // Kik: glassessgurrrl // Has Pinkie Pie and Pinkamena personalities.
