Rambler sighed.  He knew it was bound to come up eventually.

 

"Yeah, I kind of figured that. You are a captain of the guard after all. I... I don't know, I've been thinking about it. I think maybe I don't need to travel so much anymore, now that I've found you. You're a pretty good reason for me to say in one place. I mean, I would probably still have to travel every once in a while, but I don't think I could leave you for too long even if I wanted to."

Minath smiled. She wasn't expecting him to stay in one place for her, but he did.

 

"You won't be too bored. I have to travel sometimes as a representative for Celestia, so you could come on those trips. Saddle Arabia, The Griffon Stronghold, and other places too. You'll still gett o travel. And with me!" Minat said, smiling.

Minath smiled. She wasn't expecting him to stay in one place for her, but he did.

Rambler smiled.

 

"As long I'm with you, I don't really care where we are. Of course it'll still be nice to get to keep travelling, and to be with you the whole time will only make it better."

 

Rambler wrapped his forelegs around her and kissed her again. He was happy just to be with her.

Minath had to smile too. THen she thought of the books she orderd online, and was debating whether or not to tell Rambler about them. Leave it a surprise with h er new knowledge, or tell him about her efforts. She decided to ask Guin whether or not she should tell him. First though... she had to go rejion ponies. Yipee.

 

"Come on. Blaze is more likely than not running around someone. I haven't heard Guin talk in a while, I'm going to go find her." Minath said, leaving her office. Trotting down the stairs, she found Guin.

 

 "I have a question for you." Minath said, taking the seat previously occupied by Nightfall.

 

But then Minath looked up to see that Guin was gone. She must've left while herself and Rambler were upstairs... So Minath wondered around for awhile, until eventually ending up in the pool, casualoly swimming around.

"Alright, I'm going to see how Nightfall and Star are getting along. I think the two of them might be good together, you know? I guess I'll catch up with you later."

 

Rambler headed down and wasn't surprised to see Nightfall and Star Song were still in the same place where he had left them, talking.

He started to calm down a little bit, but still held a little hostility towards Rambler.

Star looked down at the ground and shuffled her hooves. *What do they have against each other ?* She thought, listening to Rambler and Nightfall talk back to each other. *Maybe I should just let them do their thing and go talk to some other party members.* She thought.

Minath saw Toxic and Chatty standing around, and realized she hasn't talked to them the whole night. She needs to work on her manners!

 

"Hey Toxic! Hey Chatty! How are things going? Enjoying the party?" Minath inquired politely, then taking a sip from her drink. This time it was more cherry coke than rum.

He sat back down and slumped down so he was slouching a bit.

"And there I go again," he muttered. "Making a mull of things, as usual."

He sighed, sitting a bit more up right, but still not fully upright.

"Sorry, Star... I let my emotions get too far sometimes..."

 

"It's...um...it's really okay you guys. We're at a party, lets all just relax and try to have some fun." She said quietly. She tried to think of something else to say but nothing came to mind so she just fiddled with her hooves and looked down at the ground, unsure what else to do...

After Nightfall left to get a drink, Rambler sighed.

 

"I'm really sorry about that, Star. We were... competing for something earlier, and I guess he's still not over the fact that I won. I feel bad about it really, but there isn't a whole lot I can do besides try to be nice to him. Anyway, hopefully it won't be a problem anymore."

"Right, right... sorry, Rambler," he mumbled quietly. He sat there for a moment, trying to think of what to do, then got up.

"Star, while I'm getting a drink, would you like me to go get you a drink?"

He smiled at her, and prepared to go, shooting a quick glance at Rambler.

Star looked up at Nightfall and smiled slightly. "Uh...o-okay." She said, with a small nod.

She listened to Rambler and nodded. "Its alright. There's no need to be sorry. At least it didn't get physical. I don't really know how Minath would feel about that." She said. After a moment she blushed realizing that what she said may have sounded a little weird.

"Yeah, I was really afraid that's what was about to happen when he started acting so hostile all of a sudden. I'm not sure Minath would be willing to forgive me if I kicked her friend's teeth out. But, luckily it didn't have to come to that."

Star forced a small chuckle as she didn't really know what else to say. "My mum would always tell me that colts will be colts...my dad did allot of really silly things. Like jump of the roof into the pond by our house...I think he actually did get into a fight with another colt one night. It was something about somepony insulting his stripes...so he fought that pony and my mum was furious but after a long conversation with my mum about how fighting is bad...he came and told me how to properly fight a colt." She laughed, this time for real. "I still have no idea what he was talking about."

"Well at least  you know how to defend yourself now. I think I would really like your dad. He sounds like a really fun guy. You know, you're a lot of fun to talk to once you start to open up to people. I'm glad I got the chance to see the real you."

He hoped things would work out between the two of them. He still felt bad for Nightfall after everything with Minath.
