writing I dream so that I might not dream

It seems that sleep comes all too little in my time

Of such a gentle thing as I, why is sleep eluded?

I, of course, know of the answer

And I, of course, am terrified of the truth

With the coming of every night, I tremble

Knowing of a terror that lies within myself

My mind, one of ignorant fears and speculation

And thus, this mind, how it feeds on my dreams

If I knew of any reason for my subconscious hate

Then perhaps I would know of how to quell my nightmares

Never again fearing what is not meant to be feared

No, sadly

For this cannot be

And I shall continue to be a slave to my own mind

Forever fearing my dreams

Knowing that they may turn against me

Knowing that they might manifest inside of my heart

Able to turn me into what I do not wish

Forever, without thought of such things

That is all I ever sought to gain from my dreams

However, as life would have it

My dreams may be my source of corruption

And thus, my terror ensues
