"Aunty Delphina and I have an understanding. You'll probably meet her later," Maven replied, smiling.

Den facehoof'd, Just... Forget it. Uncle Denny is trying to be a dolt. A dunce colt. You look warm.He watched her snuggle Nightfall and the corners of his mouth turned up faintly.

She smiled at Maven.

"You seem nice, too. Is Delphina nice? I don't want Uncle Nighty to be with a not nice pony that would make me sad."

She frowned a little, then looked at Den as Nightfall blushed and Speedy softly uttered an "awww."

"I am warm. And I like it. Being warm makes me want to fall asleep."

"Oh, Delphina's a crank old music teacher," Maven said playfully, "With fangs this big and claws on her teeth." Hmmm, should I buy some fangs for when I take my hero costume off? Nightfall's idea of fitting is a little tight, it makes me itch a bit. Plus, she'd probably get a kick out of me actually bearing fangs... No, I'll just come as me. One of these days I'm going to have to have a discussion with Speedy, tell her that Maven is Delphina, vice-versa. It's actually a bit interesting none of them have said anything about this leotard...

Why not? You're safe, as long as the whole of us are here. And I promise that I will do what I can to protect you. I'm sure you'll be fine. Den let her see an actual smile on him. It really took a lot of the weathering out of his face. He began to actually look his age for once. A Den smile is a rare sight. But, then he stopped, and normalcy was resumed, with the corners of his mouth turned up and his eyes softer.

"Should I be scared of her, Maven?"

Azure giggled, and then yawned. A big yawn. She had heard what Den had said, and began taking his word for it.

"Maybe I will then... And Uncle Denny... I like you too."

She nuzzled up to Nightfall, and soon enough her breathing had slowed and she was asleep.

Den grinned wide, "Well, honey, I like you too," he stated out loud. He placed her wolf next to her and sat back in a corner with a good view of the foal, the door, and the window.

Maven smiled, and answered her right before she fell unconscious, "No, Delphina's a nice mare." She went and nuzzled Nightfall.

Azure grabbed the doll unconsciously and held it tightly, keeping a hoof around Nightfall so that it would be hard to move her without waking her. Nightfall, meanwhile, pulled Maven in and kissed are just after she nuzzled. Speedy, meanwhile, liked watching all the love go around.

Sapphire got into the bed with her marefriend. Since trying to read Sapphire's mind is like trying to find your way through a hall of mirrors, her thoughts were kept from her kid. "Speedy, I'm really happy you're happy. I was kinda worried you'd be mad at me..."

Speedy shook her head.

"No, Sapphire. I wanted this, you wanted this... I'm glad that it worked out. And, um..."

She blushed a little bit.

"We may have to try it again sometime. Eventually..."

She grabbed Sapphire and held her close, kissing her.

Nightfall shied away.

"Right... Should we leave Azure here?"

Speedy blushed.

"Um... I guess so..."

Sapphire kissed her back. Hard. When she broke, she snuggled Speedy, with her head on her chest.

"Well, do you think you can get out of the death grip without waking her up?" Maven asked, looking amused with his discomfort.

Den eyed them, "I'll snuggle her for you. Feraen used to like her mane pet too. I can also braid a mane, if need be. And other filly things, like a shoulder." I will be. The best. Uncle. Ever.

Speedy, still a little flushed, held Sapphire close, looking like she could fall asleep soon.

"I could try to get her onto Den quickly."

"I could definitely have a filly with Maven."

"Here. Den, get ready."

But before he could start, Azure opened her eyes a little. She smiled at Nightfall, got off his lap sleepily, and trotted over to Den.

"Azure, you didn't have to move," Den laughed. He sat in a fashion that alowed Azure to jump up and snuggle him. He wrapped a hoof around her while she got settled.

Maven leaned into Nightfall, thinking about a warm, beach night. A soft, salty breeze. A nice, long night.

Sapphire smiled and pecked her on the cheek, before returning to her previous position. Her ears flicked a little as she listened to her marefriend's heartbeat.

"But I wanted to, so there."

She fell asleep soon enough again.

Nightfall leaned back into, and sighed happily.

"Maven? Do you think we could take a short vacation soon? Somewhere warm? Or at least warmer?"

Speedy held Sapphire close, smiling.

Den smiled and ran his hoof through her mane comfortingly, thinking positives thoughts.

Maven sighed, "I wish we could, but we have our jobs. And our job is to defeat the Windigo who's making it winter in the middle of spring." She sighed, "At least Speedy can still do work. She's really mellowed out from the mare who wanted to kill you."

"Well, as soon as our job is over... You, me, the beach. Nothing is gonna stop us."

He bumped her and laughed.

Speedy nodded.

"I'm just glad that Burning King is gone, and that all of us are safe right now. And I would like to rest, too."

"Well. The sooner we defeat the Windigo, the better. For everyone."

Maven leads Nightfall out of the hospital room, smiling. "I'm going to go change. Can you hang onto my leotard for me when I come back? Put it in someplace hidden? Speedy still doesn't know," she whispered, so she wouldn't be overheard.

Sapphire hugged her teddy Speedy tighter, trapping a leg. It seemed she was having good dreams.

"Well, couldn't we make our excuses and go back to the station? You could, once there, change, and then we could work in tracking down the Windigo. Or, if you want, we could rest. It's all up to you, Maven."

He smiled at her.

Speedy blushed a little, and fell into a deep sleep.

"I don't know Nightfall, I have a bad feeling we're missing something. Have you noticed how few doctor ponies are around? I think something might be going on in the hospital." Maven looked around the halls; not a single doctor was to be seen, and only the odd nurse even glanced down the hallways.

"As if so etching happened right here, under our noses?"

He looked at Maven a little sideways.

"I never thought of you to think like this, but if you I sits, we could investigate."

He turned toward the main lobby, looking at her, waiting for a decision from her.

"It's gut-feeling Nightfall. I'm not going to be comfortable unless we figure it out," she sighs, walking after him. "If it makes you feel better, we can have some alone time afterwards."

Den snuggled Azure, continuing to comb a hoof through her hair. It was calming.

"All right. Lets solve this. And then... Yeah, alone time..."

He blushed, and picked his pace up to a trot. Trotting through a hospital shouldn't seem too suspicious, right?

Azure sighed happily in her sleep, as she dreamed of her family, each in an equal amount. She hugged her wolf doll tightly, as she clung to Den.

Den sighed as his thoughts strayed to Patches. This is a long school field trip. I need to check when he was supposed to come back when I go home tonight. I wonder what he'll think about his little cousin...

Maven followed him at the same pace. Looking around, she saw that they were leaving the maternity wards.

Nightfall trotted towards a set of doors. He couldn't see through the windows, so he held onto his gun as he opened the doors. But before he could do anything, smoke billowed through the now open door. He rushed in, letting the door close behind him, and he held his gun in a ready position. The smoke smelled like one that was created by an explosion, so he moved quickly, trying to trace the smoke to its origin.

Maven frowned at Nightfall. Any idiot would know that in a fire, smoke inhalation kills more ponies than the fire it's self. She opened the door, keeping it propped, and followed him, keeping low to the floor. In order to play most instruments, on had to be able to breath. She followed him.

Nightfall kept low, but still coughed every now and then. Eventually, he came across the ER; or rather, where the ER should be. But it was gone. Completely gone. There was little trace of it left, and no trace of the person who had done it. Nightfall stared in shocked, then began to move to help the injured.

"That's not good," murmured Maven under her breath. She crawled over to some of the wounded ponies and sang softly in their ears, trying to heal them up as best as she could. She couldn't heal every little scratch on everypony- she had to spread her energy around to all of the ponies, but she tried to make it so they could be moved, or at least wouldn't die.
