Harmonic Revelations 8,835 January 27, 2013 Share January 27, 2013 I love learning anything, but especially about firearms. I am a passionate collector of weapons and firearms, with over two hundred in my collection. Some of the rooms in my house are literally covered in weapons. Archi the Atmomancer 564 January 27, 2013 Share January 27, 2013 I'm quite keen on warfare, especially in the Victorian period and in Japan, when rifles were just being invented and the samurai class went from being prideful nobles to being mad redundant by small arms. I find military tactics interesting too although I'm not very good at them myself. "Humanity is the end; knowledge is the means; I will not rest until there are no more secrets to be discovered; I will not rest until there are no more ways to improve; I will not rest until there are no more problems to be solved; I will wield no weapon but my wits and intellect; With these weapons I will battle ignorance until the light of knowledge shines bright; When the light of knowledge shines upon us all, then I shall rest, and not before." - Atmomancer Creed
Harmonic Revelations 8,835 January 27, 2013 Share January 27, 2013 You must live in the US... I'm 100% sure already Well, I live in the Netherlands. Gun laws are very strict here. Anyway, what pieces/parts of the technology do you find interesting/amazing? I live in the US, you'd be correct in that assumption. Although, it was very hard to attain so many guns, and them being expensive was not the hardest thing about acquiring them. I find rifling amazing, it was really a simple advancement but it increased the accuracy of weapons to an amazing degree.

khaine21x3 789 January 27, 2013 Share January 27, 2013 Back in the 80s I visited the workshops that made ak 47s for the rebel forces that was fighting a us backed dictator here, they were made in small houses with very basic equipment by middle aged people. There are lots of terrorist camps here up to this date and they teach little kids how to make IEDs and makeshift weapons.
Two-of-Hearts 168 January 28, 2013 Share January 28, 2013 I'm trying to join the US Army, but I can't until I get my weight down to 180 lbs (I currently weigh 220). So yeah I do have a vested interest in the military and firearms. I don't own any firearms myself (though I really want to), but I just can't afford a super expensive hobby piece like that right now. The guns I want include an AR-15 (either from Armalite, or Rock River Arms), a modernized FAL made by DSA (.308 Winchester, it even has 'win' in its name). I'd also like a Cz-75 Phantom pistol, and a Sig P266 pistol. What mostly got me interested in joining the Army was my dad. My dad is a Vietnam war veteran, and I was raised on his stories. I'd also say my love of history also drives me to enlist, though in truth I'm not that big into military history. I'm far more interested in philosophical and religious history. Just repeat to yourself it's just a show, I should really just relax. -Mystery Science Theater 3000 You're dead if you aim only for kids, adults are just kids grown up anyway. -Walt Disney
