"O-ok... Lte's go then..." He really didn't like the feeling of going underground, but he didn't want to seem like a scaredy-colt to Shade, so he followed her as if he wasn't afraid, when he actually was quaking with fear on the inside. He gave her a smile, hoping she wouldn't notice it.

Going through the castle shade was looking at every detail and yet, there wasn't anything interesting here...

 

Shade had one last look around before turning back, "lets go... There's nothing here. And I can seance that you don't want to be here, so lets go." She said going back the way they came.

"ooooo. OK!" she gave him another kiss before walking out. "well I'm going to go spend the next year setting up my tent. see you whenever your done." she left the tent and went to her own pile of metal and tent fabric. She re-read the instructions, following out each step as she went. It took along time but eventually she finished setting up the tent.

Paradox grabbed her hoof and stopped her. "No, let's go on... I know you really want to see the underground portion, so let's find the entrance. It could be down that last hallway we haven't been in yet." He pointed a little ways off, to a dark and threatening hallway not too far off.

She walked towards the dark hallway and entered the shadows. Shade looked around and saw nothing, there wasn't anything interesting at all. It just seemed like a normal hallway. But shade kept walking just to see if anything was at the end.

Dox followed her and saw a dead end, a wall with a rather large painting hanging on it. But there was something odd about that picture... Dox couldn't quite put his hoof on what it was, though. He walked up right next to the painting and inspected it closely.

Shade looked at the painting, she looked closely, she couldn't see anything but there was something about it that was strange.

 

"What do you think about it? There's something up with it, but I can't make it out. What do you think?" She asked

 

Shade looked at dox to see what he thought.

"Hmm..." Dox made his horn glow brightly, then levitated the picture away to reveal some rough-cut stairs leading downward into the earth. Dox grinned at Shade. "See? I KNEW something was weird about this painting!" Hcautiously stepped onto the first step, then continued downward.

Shade smiled and followed dox down the stairs, "I wonder how long it's been since anypony has been down here seems like we're the first in a long time, what do you think will be down here?" She asked

 

Shades courage was dropping going down the stairs, but being around dox made her feel powerful, so it didn't bother her, even if she's getting the smallest feeling of scaird

"I dunno... probably just more ruins. We'll just have to see, though, won't we?" He gave her a little wink and a smile, trying to calm her down a bit because he could sense that she, too, was getting nervous. He pulled her close and nuzzled her cheek, giving her a small kiss there. "Hey, don't worry, whatever's down there, we can deal with it... together."

Shade smiled and continued to follow dox, she looks at the walls then back down at the stairs. At the bottom it was dark, so dark that shades night vision can't see threw the dark it was almost like a fog of darkness.

 

"It's dark down here..." Shades horn glows trying to see past the darkness

"I know..." He made his horn glow, adding to the light given off by Shade's horn. Nothing was moving except for the little dropplets of water that fell from the celing of the cave onto their heads. Then, out of the very corner of his eye, he thought he saw something move, and he gasped.

"what!? what is it?" shade said replying to dox's gasp.

 

shade then saw something move in the corner of her eye she looked at it but coudent make out what it was "what is that?" she asked, she tryed to look closely but coudent make vision past the fogy underground.

Suddenly, another changeling jumped out of the fog at Shade... and sailed right by her, tackling Dox to the ground.

 

"Hmmm, sssssuch a nicccce meal thisssss one will make for me... sssssso long hasssss it been ssssinccccce a pony with ssssssuch love hassss appeared in my cavern..." The changeling turns to Shade. "Thanksss for the meal, comrade, now, letsssss enjoy it..."

 

Dox yells, "SHADE, HELP ME!"

Shade tackled the changeling and hissed her fangs at it. "Back off! Hesssss all mine. Get your own!" Shade said lighting up the room with green fire getting rid of the black fog.

 

Shade puched dox behind her and fire started to jump off shades horn. she got ready to attack.

The changeling hissed. "Being greedy, are we? Why not sssshare, it sssssseemssss that he hassssss an endlesssssss amount of love inssssside of him, more that enough for the both of ussss... though I don't undrrssssstand what he could be loving in a placccce like thissssss....." He said, eyeing Shade curiously.

He got back to working on the new robot, which he named Dolan, and Soon, he was on to the the head.

As he finished, he attached the crystal to the inside of the head, and a huge flash erupted, lifting the tent up in a cartoonish fashion and sending it falling back down.

Gears blinked. He coat, mane, and tail were blackened with ash now, and his goggles fell down to his eyes.

The robot awoke. It looked around. It was a white color, much brighter than Rhonda's color. He smiled. It had worked.

"Dolan,"he said"Your name is Dolan. Speak, Dolan."

"Do-lhan?"

"Yes. I'm your master."

The changeling was momentarily stunned, but then burst out into a loud, screeching laughter. "A HALFLING!? A halfling thinkssss that sssshe can bessssst me?! Halflingssss are weak creaturesssss, one could never defeat me!" With that, he began to threateningly walk foreward, wanting his meal.

 

Dox was still afraid, but he knew he had to trust Shade. He walked up next to her and put his hoof on her shoulder, hoping his love would flow out to her, making her stronger.

Shade turned her head half way to look at dox, then looked at the changeling, "do you really want to do this? Because I'm not just a halfling... I'm 'the' halfling" shade charged at the changeling seeing what it would do. She hoped it would run away but just incase she had her magic ready.

The changeling saw that Shade was indeed serious, and proceeded to scamper away. It was weak after not having eaten after all these years, and, although it talked a big game, it didn't think it was in any shape to fight.

 

Paradox ran up and hugged her from behind. "You did it!" He beamed at her.

Shade smiled but glared at the derection the changeling ran off in. "Strange how a changeling would be camped out here, and why was it alone? Minions usuly hunt in packs... Sigh* well what ever, lets just get out of here" she said turning back and starting to go back up the stairs.

"Yes, and quickly, too, I don't want to be around if he does have some nearby friends..." He quickly ascended the stairs, coming out of the hole in the wall after Shade and putting the painting back into place. "Hopefully nopony finds that place again..." He shivered.

Shade continued to run untill they were outside the runes, shade was panting when she stopped, she looks at dox and hugs him, she looks into his eyes and, " did he absorb anything?... Or hurt you, or what ever?" She asked...

 

Shade was shocked to see another changeling, it's been too long since she interacted with them, and it might be dangerous, because they could report that she has been spotted to chrysalice. But she didnt want to think about it.

Shade continued to run untill they were outside the runes, shade was panting when she stopped, she looks at dox and hugs him, she looks into his eyes and, " did he absorb anything?... Or hurt you, or what ever?" She asked...

 

Shade was shocked to see another changeling, it's been too long since she interacted with them, and it might be dangerous, because they could report that she has been spotted to chrysalice. But she didnt want to think about it.

Dox shook his head feverantly. "No, no, he didn't, but it was thanks to you that he didn't, you really saved me back there, Shade..." He leaned foreward and kissed her, then pulled back and smiled. "I think that's been enough exploring for one day, don't you think?" He hugged her.

shade hugged and kissed dox again, then started to walk

 

shade walked back in the derection of the camp, half way there she started to get tired, its not easy thinking about other changeling in the world and camping.
