~Scootaloo 440 March 17, 2013 Share March 17, 2013 I've been hearing about "Pony Music" and I was wondering how it is made? I've wanted to make dubstep (or attempt to), but I never really knew how to. I want to see if I could do so myself for fun... So how does one make "Pony Music"? (without singing I hope) By Kyoshi
Shanks 10,817 March 17, 2013 Share March 17, 2013 As a musician myself pony music to me just seems like any other kind of music except with the key difference being that it is music that is inspired by the show and its characters. Inspiration can come from many different sources for a musician and for a brony musician one of those sources seems to be a show about cartoon ponies. 1 Rarity Get's Cockroaches

I want to do a remix (not dubstep or anything like that). I favorite remix/parody is "Inspector Bonk" a parody of "Inspector Gadget" theme. I'm not even sure how one even makes a remix of a song... akita-ken 581 March 17, 2013 Share March 17, 2013 This topic appears to be a request for help and should therefore be in Creative Resources. The Fan Music board is for showing off and getting critique on musical works that you, the topic-starter, have created. Signature to come soon. I think. Yeah. Once I think up a nice one. Or when someone makes one for me. Damn it. I need more time to draw and animate poni. >_<
Shanks 10,817 March 17, 2013 Share March 17, 2013 Do you have any links to your work? I want to do a remix (not dubstep or anything like that). I favorite remix/parody is "Inspector Bonk" a parody of "Inspector Gadget" theme. No, I haven't really posted any of the songs I have composed and have had a bit of a dry spell as far as that goes for a while but much of my creative side which lain dormant is coming out big time since I started watching MLP so it is only a matter of time before I get back into that. I have a really good idea for a Big Mac theme song, it is kind of a mix between bluegrass/country and old school blues vibe to it. I confess I haven't really dabbled into the kind of remixes like you showed in that one video so I can't really say how much on how to do that. But have long had an idea for a jazz remix of Night on Bald Mountain, which has become famous thanks in large part to Phantasia. My favorite remix is actually Blue Rondo a La Turk by Dave Brubek which is a jazz remix of the classical song Blue Rondo a La Mode. http://youtu.be/kc34Uj8wlmE For remixes it is a bit of a balancing act between respecting the source material while still putting your own spin on it which the example you gave seems to do even though much of it was more for comedic effect which suits the theme song rather well as someone who has grown up watching Inspector Gadget I know that show never took itself seriously. For your first remix I would suggest something fairly simple, do you have a song in mind? 2 Rarity Get's Cockroaches
Planty 1,053 March 17, 2013 Share March 17, 2013 I'm not even sure how one even makes a remix of a song.. He recorded the Boink sound while playing ect and then using programs like audacity and vegas pro manipulated (to get high and low notes) then snipped loads and loads of boinks together in the tune that he wanted, then he put the backing track to it ! Well I had a few of them that might work: The Offspring - You're Gonna Go Far, Kid Out of the three which do you think would be best to try and remix? Jokuc 8,174 March 17, 2013 Share March 17, 2013 Pony music? Well either it's normal music (any genre) created by fans of the show. They're usually given an mlp-related title and mlp-related song art. Or it's music created by fans of the show who put in voices from the show's characters at different places in the song where it fits. Both are made in music production/editing programs. One of the more popular programs are FL Studio It has a bunch of tutorials on how to use it on youtube. There are of course a lot of other programs out there. I honestly think you'd get better help by watching youtube videos about the program you'll be using instead of asking in the forum about it since it can be quite hard to explain through text. ~Scootaloo 440 March 19, 2013 Author Share March 19, 2013 (edited) Well I looked up tutorials on YouTube (I searched around for some beginner ones) and none of them are really what I need. Most of them are either too advanced or just not what I need. I really want to do this so someone please help me find a good tutorial.
