TheMarkz0ne 962 March 17, 2013 Share March 17, 2013 (edited) I have a theory that changelings were once ponies but were contaminated with a virus and became a parasite. Because that's essentially what a changeling is, a parasite Well whether or not they were once ponies. Maybe they are just born that way but they can convert ponies into their kind. I bring this up because why do they encapsulate their prey into green pods. I know they need to feed of love. But is it possible they make more changelings that way. What if Celestia or any other pony stayed in there long enough and became a changeling with a hive mind set to obey Chrysalis. I am just throwing it out there guys. i mean at least I am giving them a back story unlike Hasbro. They give so many backstories and lore to the transformers but when it comes to MLP they don't do it Edited March 17, 2013 by TheMarkz0ne
Ano170 162 March 17, 2013 Share March 17, 2013 Now all I can think of is that scene between Data and the Borg Queen, but with Chrysalis... So yeah, thanks for that image. XD Anyways, interesting theory! This is now my head-canon backstory for the changelings! ^.^ 1 Uh...I have no idea what to put here. Limey 524 March 17, 2013 Share March 17, 2013 Probably not, otherwise why would they need to disguise as others in order to feed, although the theory that they used to be ponies is pretty interesting. Zeno 47 March 17, 2013 Share March 17, 2013 (edited) This blew my mind, but then I read Navel Spess's post. Mind-blow suddenly gone. Nice lead to newer theories, though! Keep trying. Edited March 17, 2013 by Zeno
NavelColt 22,881 March 18, 2013 Share March 18, 2013 Creative theory, but no. By the looks, the Changelings are a completely organic race that seek to rule over -other- species. The Borg are mostly just a gigantic hive mother-brain of robotic creatures that want to convert all other species. The Borg are like a virus. They're neutral, not living or dead, and their prime objective is to simply multiply and take over everything around them as the new host. The Changelings are like bacteria. They're living, seek to destroy and take over things around them, but their focus is just ruling as the dominant species, not ruling as the -only- uniform, 'perfect' species.
Zygen 6,066 March 18, 2013 Share March 18, 2013 Its an interesting theory, but I don't think of the changelings as ponies mutated, I just think of the changelings as their own race, with the want and need to takeover and feed off of the ponies, not to really convert them or anything, because they just feed, if they where infected then I would've thought they could infect others and thats what they'd do, but they just feed which makes me think they just want to rule and are their own species. Interesting theory though, I've just always thought of changelings as a separate species on their own. Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! Phoenix237 353 March 18, 2013 Share March 18, 2013 I actualy think your on to something. Now as you mentioned they keep their captured pert in pods, but why? If they stay there forever there love will dwindle. It's fair to say they keep them in pods for some reason. Now a parasites is something that can takeover a host. And the Maine thing that parasites also do is multiply. If you think of changelings as bugs or parasites then it's not so far fetched. Some insects such as ants take over other colonies, take down the queen and spred their own colonies. The takeover sounds familiar and it's safe to say that they will create more of their species. Parasites take over the host bodies and multiply. If you think about it, is seems possible.
--Eve-- 351 March 18, 2013 Share March 18, 2013 (edited) Although maybe at first glance, the Borg are not the same as the changelings. The Borg assimilate others into their collective, with technology, and that is how they connect to form their hive mind. The Borg are also not a species, they are pretty much anything that the borg can assimilate. giving them a wide variety of sizes and forms that the changelings do not have. The Borg cannot transform their image like the changelings do, which is another difference between them. Even if those pods converted ponies into changelings, they are not nearly as quick or deadly as The Borgs assimilation is. I would imagine they are like "meals" being saved for later, like a spider does with flys and such. If the changelings were switched the borg, they wouldn't have left anyone alive and would likely assimilate anything on site, unless they need another "Locutus". Night Shine 767 March 18, 2013 Share March 18, 2013 Definitely an interesting theory/headcanon material, I'll give you that. Made me really think. While I personally disagree just because I like to think of the Changelings are individuals (it makes many fanfics and my own personal headfanon regarding my OC work, since my OC has a Changeling assistant dude), I can't exactly prove you wrong. Not that I'd necessarily want to, I guess. Although you're right in that there are a lot of similarities, I'll give you that. So...cool theory! xP /)
