Caek 1 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 Hello everyone, I am Caek. I'm not new to the fandom, but I'm new here! Anyways, I'm hoping to make some new friends. But, I need your help guys. I have had to lay low as a brony since my parents, whom I still live with, are convinced that bronies are "low-life, child molesting gays," which we all know isn't true. I think it is especially with may dad. Oh, but it gets a lot worse, because they argue everything and anything I say. They grounded me for about 2 weeks because of it, and they'll probably do it again. Any suggestions?
TomokoKuroki 1,707 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 (edited) Hello, and welcome to the forums! I hope you enjoy your stay here and make lots of friends! As for your...issue..i would suggest having a family session with a guidance counselor or something to try to get their opinions in a open discussion to find the root of their beliefs. And then to eradicate such beliefs. If they refuse to openly discuss it to get a better understanding, then they don't need to know. If you need to talk to someone, talk to a teacher or something about it for more help, I am certainly not a psychologist and my advice isn't an absolute answer. just thought I'd provide a suggestion or spark an idea for yourself. Greenhoof 9 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 Well first of all welcome to this site, where I assure you nobody will make fun of you for being a Brony. Second, your parents seem like jerks. They ground you because you like something they don't, and the worst thing is you really can't argue with them. They pay the bills, they give you food and a place to live. I would suggest showing them some female Bronies, or things made by them, to show that it isn't just guys who are into it. Maybe show them this site, and how people are passionate over this awesome show. But make sure you steer away from the pornographic parts of this site. Here's my last piece of help: Take a show that they watch reguarly that you hate, and use your parents argument against them. They'll hate you at first, but they may come around to your side of thinking. I hope this helped, and I wish you luck.
TomokoKuroki 1,707 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 I would also add that i would think that your parents are doing this to protect you. It may seem like hate, but they could just be scared for your mental safety, and feel the harsh treatment may prevent the claims they have. So don't take it as pure hate, i am sure they are only doing it because they love you, even though they are wrong about that they think about most bronies.

stainesbrony 219 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 My parent's don't know that I'm a brony. Only my brother knows that I'm a brony. All you need to do is just use an IPod or a phone for brony stuff, telling your parents not to use it, and you should be fine! STOP READING THIS SIGNATURE! THIS IS AN ONLINE FORUM, NOT A LIBRARY! Avatar tag: shipping 299 April 3, 2013 Share April 3, 2013 Welcome to the forum brother, and I'm sorry your having so much trouble with your parents. When I moved back in with my folks (school is expensive!), I debated whether or not to tell them. Being too chicken, I elected not to. In fact, only my best friend knows. Ine of my co-workers is a huge fan of anime, and everyday he's at the station he sits in the living room and watches it. The problem? The others tear him to shreds every time he watches. Imagine what they would do to me and ponies... Not good. But I digress no matter what you decide to do, just remember that we all have your back. Once again, welcome! Sig by the one and only Doc Volt! Gone but not forgotten! Guess who's back!!! Luna damn it!Your PMs are not safe! Trust no one!
Caek 1 April 4, 2013 Author Share April 4, 2013 Guys please help me... after i came up to my dad to try and explain it, any evidence that bronies weren't pedophiles, my dad called "fucking brony propaganda". Aftee constantly trying to prove that we arent pedophiles, he slammed me onto the floor, and told me to "shut the fuck up about tge bronies." I have no idea what to do. I cant win. he will never be convinced, never. I just think i might have to leave the fandom.
TomokoKuroki 1,707 April 4, 2013 Share April 4, 2013 (edited) Get a counselor involved, a parent shouldn't be acting in that manner to a child, their child over a T.V show. It is completely unacceptable. Or a therapist, anyone. Edited April 4, 2013 by Hayzelestia
Witchkin 13 April 4, 2013 Share April 4, 2013 Well hun, maybe for now it's best to not mention it to your parens until they seem calmer. Pushing never gets anywhere, especially if they're worried about you. Or something you could try instead of talking in person - you could write a letter about how you feel. You could find some articles about the positive things bronies do, and print those with the letter.
Caek 1 April 4, 2013 Author Share April 4, 2013 the only way it will convince either of them is if i can prove the we arent pedophiles. there is no possible way he will ever understand, i just dont know what to say to then that will convince them at least a bit,
