Fanfiction Idea (Seeking Opinions)

So as the title implies, I'm thinking about writing a fanfiction. I've written fanfiction before, but never about My Little Pony. My work has mostly been about Super Mario and I've never really shared it (partially because I lost the story).

 

But now I'd like to get started on a My Little Pony fanfiction, but I want it to be pretty epic. My idea is to do it stylized after the way Marvel comics do their work.

 

Basically, I plan to have three different works going on at the same time:

 

One will detail the adventures of Rarity and Pinkie Pie who leave Ponyville due to reasons revealed in the story. They're not gone forever, of course. But this is to sort of spotlight these two and give them their own adventure.

 

The second story will detail those who remain in Ponyville. Twilight Sparkle will be in Canterlot with Celestia, so this story will primarily focus on: Apple Jack, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash. I'm also toying around with the idea of having Trixie be a central character in this line.

 

The third will take place in an entirely different world. And the location of the story will be called Shadowmare Falls. This story will detail a land that was cursed by a mythic being a long time ago and is shrouded in eternal night. However, the land is aided by equally mythic items called the Orbs of Light that help bring a faux light that imitates sunlight.

 

The main character of this line is a Pegasus pony named Skylight who will basically be a parallel to Twilight Sparkle, but very different.

 

And then there will be a special crossover event that brings all 3 lines together. This will again be explained in story. I'm not sure if something similar has been done, but does this sound interesting at all? I've already panned out the basic story premise for all three lines.

 

It's hard for me to give too many details with potentially spoiling big plot points, so that's why I'm keeping the explanations as basic as possible.

Well I think they sound interesting, I'd give them a read and I'd be willing to help you if I can. (I'm not saying that I'm great I'm just of the opinion that new writers should help each other out).

First off, brohoof /) Sounds like you have the passion to see your story through. Definitely go for it! I'm also working on an mlp story (perhaps "fan-canon" is the right term), so let's give it our best 

 

The idea of 3 separate stories that later converge sounds solid. Whether or not it's an enjoyable read depends on your writing though. How a story is told is more important than what the story is about.

I can't remember many stories done on Rarity and Pinkie so you could do some really nice stuff with it!

I'd definetely read that! My one opinion before I see it is that it has good grammar. Nothing makes me grumpy more than a potentially great story ruined by a lack of any grammar whatsoever. I can't wait to read it!
