(It is testament to my SW nerdiness that I am surprised that somebody else is surprised that somebody knows who mace windu is. I mean, he's in the movies, everybody should know who mace is.

 

And shatterpoint is one of my favorite star wars novels. If any want to know, it's durin the clone wars. Separatist backed settlers vs the native population of a jungle planet. Mace comes in search of a former padawan of his an ends up totally fucking up the separatists while he does it.)

The man led them to a room where several other jedi sat. The man who sat in the middle waved his hand and said,

"Seat yourselves children."

Nidal went ahead of the black guy and sat down on her board, still floating in the air.

Renzia sat down, mortified at the actions of her new friend. This man was obviously a master! And she addressed him so... Casually?

The man smiled at the child.

"You have initative. I like that in my pupils, child. What is your name?"

"My name's Nidal. What do you mean 'initiative' and what's your name?"

Nidal floated on her board in a slow circle around the Jedi.

The man chuckled in his chair.

"I am your master Obi-Wan Kenobi. I ask of you to refer to me as Master Kenobi. And what I mean is you are not imtimidated by me. That shows me you do not have many fears."

Nidal cocked her head.

"You're a living being, like me. Why should I be scared?"

Obi-wan smiled and her and put his hand on her head.

"I see great things for you child."

Obi's hand got off Nidal as she continued her circles around him.

"You say that to everyone who comes here, don't you?"
