Ignis stopped in his tracks a few magic probes that he'd had in the castle were still picking up dark magic. "Please go on ahead Luna I'll catch up when I can." Ignis levitated his orb of light to Luna before sitting down in the cave. Ignis focused his energy and one of his probes released magic and did his clone form again. Ignis took off and found himself looking at Shining charging at Wick. Ignis acted quickly blasting Shining with a salvo of magic knocking him to the ground. Ignis ran over to Wick. "Looks like you could use some assistance Wick."

"Oh look! It's my worthless brother-in-law," Shining quipped. He stood back up and brushed his coat. "Why she ever accepted such a lowly unicorn into our family I will never understand." The prince charged a spell of his own and fired two bluish bolts at the pair. The anger in his tone grew all the more dominant as he spoke, and it was clear from the cool fire glare painted upon his irides, that the Shining Armor they knew had been repressed by the seed of betrayal. "You'll never cut it out from under my shadow."  

 

Wick slid in front of Ignis and yelped as he took both strikes. They burned him, hurling jets of pain that made the pegasus release an agonizing grunt. He hoped to Celestia that Ignis wouldn't ask him why he did it or what is plan was. He was too busy trying to stay on his hooves. Hopefully the plan would be clear. Until the princesses returned with a solution, Ignis's magic was the only thing that had a chance of keeping Shining in check. In the meantime, Wick had only one course of action: be the guard's shield.

Ignis saw Wick jump in front of him and take the shots for him. Ignis wanted to ask but figured there was a reason for it, and besides now wasn't the time. "Wick I'm going to have you to stay out of this battle ok." Ignis turned to Wick the seriousness in his eyes was that of trying to stare a dragon down. Ignis took his fighting stance, he would normally use his Kunai on any other enemy but this was family. Besides that, Twilight wouldn't forgive him if he beat Shining up really bad. "I'd take more offense to that comment if it was actually you talking and not that dark magic inside of you." Ignis ran to his left firing more magic at Shining but the guard captain easily dodged them. "As for the shadow remark. I gave up on that once I got back with your sister, and at least I'm not being controlled by a shadow." Ignis shot a few rays of orange magic at Shining hoping they would hit.

Shining put up a barrier and couldn't care less about the attacks. He knew the unicorn did not want to hurt him, which gave the prince a decided upper hoof. His tainted mind, however, was fixated on something else entirely, and a discorded grin spread his lips as he thought about it. He launched a retaliatory magic strike and watched as Wick, once again, positioned himself in between the bolt and Ignis. The pegasus's wrist popped from the shot, shattering from the protective course of action. Armor laughed. "You shouldn't talk down to ponies who are trying to save you," the stallion remarked arrogantly, "but if you want me all for yourself...."

 

A scream broke from Wick's lungs as another shot tore through his kneecap. The stallion fell to the floor as pools of red gradually soaked his grey coat. He was out - his pain threshold greatly exceeded by the damage inflicted. "Can't fly; can't walk..." Shining taunted Ignis. "I guess you'll have to take the ol' colt out to pasture and end it for him." The controlling spell had transformed into a sadistic seed that left Shining Armor in a state unprecedented in Equestria. "You're not worthy of being by plaything, Ignis... That pegasus is a failure; he's shown it over and over again, and now he has betrayed me. Maybe I'll just execute him for treason right in front of your stupid face." He smirked and placed a secondary barrier around Wick. "Unless of course... you're willing to bow to your king."

"Cadance! Return at once!" Celestia shouted, but Cadance responded by throwing another pie in her face.

Celestia noticed that she was heading in the direction of the Castle so she teleported there to beat Cadance to it. The battle was raging on in the castle, she heard: "...willing to bow to your king." Celestia walked in.

"Oh, there was me thinking that i was the ruler of the land." Celestia confronted Shining Armor. "Ignis, step back, i will not allow my subjects to be harmed by anypony, even you, Shining Armor."

"You won't allow anypony to be hurt? Are you stupid, Celestia? Maybe you missed the crumpled mass of useless on the floor. Allow me to demonstrate." Another bolt ripped into Wick's other kneecap, dragging the pegasus momentarily back from the unconscious realm for long enough to wail. "You're a little late for that, but you're just in time to watch another fall to the sands of time."

 

Wick's head hit floor. He could feel himself slipping back to sleep. "Princess... Ignis...." he panted, trying to get the full extent of his plan to them before it was too late. "He's at ... magic supply... limit."

Ignis growled when he saw Wick take another blow for him. He couldn't stand it anymore. Ignis dissapeared in a flash of orange light, appearing next to Shining before he could react in time. All Shining could see was Ignis getting smaller, Ignis had used a magic blast placed in his back hooves. The buck hit shining like a brick wall along the force of his kick. "Do yourself a favor Shining and stay down."

Celestia's horn covered itself in a purple haze, her eyes started seeping darkness, she then shot a blast at Shining Armor, covering his horn and blocking his magic. "I'm sorry Shining Armor, this is the only way i can save you and Cadance." She teleported Wick over to her and teleported away to heal him.

Wick groaned when Celestia teleported him away. He kept falling in and out of consciousness, momentarily peering up at the princess as he rolled his head. He was clearly in a lot of pain; and to make matters worse, Shining's spells left magic resistant wounds. It would take time; he just hoped it all wasn't for naught. "Ignis..." he mumbled to the princess, making the horrendous mistake of trying to sit up. The pegasus whimpered and fell back to the floor.

 

Shining recoiled from the hit. In the moment immediately following the strike, his gaze returned to its normal softer state. "I ... I ...." he stuttered, his true self temporarily realizing the extent of what he had done. He could no longer use magic, thanks to Celestia's spell, and the dramatic weakening of his power made the seed far less aggressive. "Make sure I can't leave, and make sure Wick's okay..." he blurted.

Hmmm, unlucky, the spells that Shining Armor used aren't so easily healed, but what am i talking about? I created most of those spells.

Celestia's horn glowed green and went to work, these wounds could not be healed magically however hard Celestia tried, in the end, Wick had a couple of bandages around his legs and basically all over him. "Don't worry about anypony else Wick, we'll sort it all out.

The stallion looked up at the princess with a pained expression on his face. It was in his nature to worry; that was his duty, but he understood her point. He wasn't going anywhere for quite sometime. Moving had become an impossibility. At least, he helped somepony again. He had bought enough time and wasted enough of Shining's misplaced power to make it easy. "You... wouldn't happen to have.... a spell for pain...." he panted heavily while staring at her with practically pleading eyes.

"I'm sorry Wick, i can't do anything about the pain..." Celestia began but her sentence trailed off. She immediately had an idea.

"I do have an idea but due to the nature of your wounds it may be impossible, Celestia's horn glowed green once again, there were visible signs that the pain was leaving Wick's body as he became more relaxed. Celestia began to walk out of her chambers.

Wick let out a sigh of relief and looked to Celestia. "Thank you," he said, his voice a bit perkier than before. "Please make sure Ignis is okay, Your Highness. He ... umm ... may be mad at me for being so reckless, and we all know how he gets when he's mad. It's not Shining's fault. I'm worried about them both."

"I'm worried about them too, i just have no idea what to do." Celestia let out a sigh which had probably been held in for the past thousand years. "I put up a strong exterior but nopony understands my true feelings, it may seem like i'm indestructable but on the inside..." Celestia's mane turned pink. "...on the inside i'm just a normal pony like everypony else." Her mane returned to ti's normal rainbow color. "I put on this act, but i never realize just how much it hurts me."

Wick mustered every ounce of strength in his body to sit up. "Princess..." he responded, a concerned gaze plastered to his face. "No pony will think any less of you if you lean on us for support. Princesses become princesses because they are elevated by their peers. We don't expect you to do everything yourself, at least I don't. You've already put a plan into motion; we're just waiting for the pieces to come together." 

He paused for a moment, taking the time to collect his breath and re-steady his body. "Once Princess Cadence is better, I am sure she will heal Shining Armor. I have faith in what you all will do..." He slid onto his back and let out another hurried breath. "I know you're not invincible. That doesn't change my loyalty and respect for you..."

"That's why i'm glad i have Luna, somepony to keep me balanced." Celestia remembered the situation. "I must go, Wick, Cadance is sure to turn up any minute now and something must be done to fix the Crystal Heart." Celestia left for the library again. Celestia had been used to the unwavering loyalty of her royal guard, but this felt different, it was a genuine affirmation of his convinctions. A warmth was felt by Celestia at that moment.

 

((I need to advance the other side of the story so i'm going to control the element wielders.))

 

Ash and Meno showed up. "Good, everypony is here, hold onto your hooves!" Missy shouted as she attempted to teleport all six of them half-way across Equestria, it worked. They were in a half-destroyed Crystal city.

"Okay everypony, right there, follow along with me." Missy's shard started glowing a deep black, the other's shards lit up too. The six formed a diamond shape, Missy served as the conduit for thes powers, a beam shot from Missy's horn towards the Crystal Heart.

The corruption inside the Crystal Heart disappeared and it turned back to its normal color.

Ignis looked upon Shining and let out a sigh of relief. With his magic gone he was far less of a threat that he was before and Ignis had plenty of magic to spare. "Don't worry Shining I'll take care of Wick but first I need to make sure you won't do anything to hurt anypony else." With that said Ignis used his magic and orange chains shot out of the floor and tethered Shining to the ground. "Those should hold you and limit any magic you may try to use until Celestia can deal with you." Ignis teleported his clone to Celestia and Wick and knelt down beside the pegasus giving a soft smile. "Don't worry Wick everything's ok now. Princess if you wish to take care of Shining or anything else please do so."

Shining nodded. A low growl built in his throat as he fought the seed. Sorrow tumbled around in his chest. Images of Wick sat there for him to digest. He couldn't believe that he had allowed something to corrupt him to that point. Wick was his friend, but that hadn't stopped him from doing and saying horrible things. His body tugged anxiously at the binds as his desires yearned for him to be free form the curse. 

 

Wick turned his head slowly and looked up at Ignis. "H-hey," he said quietly. "It looks like I'm going to have to wait this one out the hard way. Magic resistant wounds...." He lifted his hoof about a centimeter before waving dismissively. "Celestia cast an anti-pain spell, so at least I'm better off than I was." Wick shut his eyelids and started to drift off from the heaviness afflicting his frame. "I'm glad things are fine..." He tapped his hoof against the stallion's. "Guess I still got it...."

"I will Ignis. Thank you." Celestia arrived in the library, she looked upon Shining Armor, affected by the curse that Celestia had palced on his horn, Ignis must have locked him down with these chains. "So, are you ready to be co-operative Shining Armor?" Celestia asked.

Shining was already settled on the floor by the time Celestia arrived. He looked distraught as his mind fought to cope with all that had happened. "I need Cadence," he mumbled. "I can't beat it alone..." The stallion looked up the princess with widened cores absolutely drenched in sorrow. "I did something horrible... I let you all down, and Wick..." He stopped and squinted as the evil within him made another attempt to grab control of his voice. "No!" he wailed. "No more! No more!"

"Cadance is on her way here now, i just hope they've done their job right." Celestia explained to him. "We don't think any less of you Shining Armor, you weren't in your right mind, i'm sure Wick will forgive you eventually." Celestia smiled, suddenly, a certain pink alicorn arrived.

Ignis let out a light chuckle as he sat next to Wick. "Don't worry Wick you're a tough pony to put down. So I know you'll get back up in time and be back in fighting form." Ignis was smiling at Wick, but the smile soon turned to a stern look on his face. "I don't know what possessed you to take those hits for me but don't you ever do that again. I could've easily defended against them. It's not like that was the first time me and Shining spared." Ignis drew a kunai and jammed it into the floor next to Wick. "As the Midnight Guard captain I'm giving you a warning. Don't do something foolish like that again or I will personally take you out of a battle. Your sister was a close friend of mine and I doubt she'd want to see you die like that. GOT THAT!" Ignis wanted to stay longer but he'd already kept Luna waiting. With that his clone faded away, Ignis opened his eyes and then ran to catch up with Luna deeper in the cave.

"Pfft," Wick groaned. "Still trying to play the tough guy even though it is completely unnecessary. You know well enough that keeping your magic reserve charged at full was crucial for that working out as it did. I was useful, and that is good enough for me. You should also know by now that I'll probably ignore that warning anyhow."

Missy stood before the element wielders, she gave all of them a bow. The others did so too, then Missy teleported them back to Ponyville to go on their separate ways. Missy quickly teleported to Canterlot, when she arrived, Celestia was standing over Shining Armor.

(Okay, i'm going to try and jumpstart this again, due to the absence of Lunar Knight, i will take over Cadence until we can find a suitable replacement.)

 

Cadence was now free of influence, the Crystal Heart had been fixed and so had she.

"I must leave " said Princess Celestia. "My sister is in need of my help, i will be back soon." Celestia hoped that it would never have to come to this but they had no choice.
