My Little Pony RPG - Request for help

So will we actually do it? cause we never said a yes or no because I am actually coming with a pretty good script for it I was thinking about a story all day long today

I think that though,we should program the game in a language like c++, or

python, it would allow it to be very portable (run on pretty much and OS, especially OSX and Linux),

and it would be very configurable. now i have never written a game or really any kind of complex program,

i understand c++ pretty ok. python doesn't look too hard. i know of several libraries (again cross platform)

that can be used to aid in the creation of the game. and last but not least i feel we should make the game

FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) anybody could contribute and help out, with stuff like fixing bugs

and all sorts of things, it would be also a great learning experience for everypony to see how a game works

deep down.

I considered building it from the ground up, but there are a few things that I had to consider:

• When making it from Scratch, it is an awful lot of work, which means a lot of time to invest, time that I and others might not have.
• The relation between amount of work put in and content spat out is pretty low at the beginning, so you get demotivated easily and often drop the project before getting to any real mile stone.
• I like RPG Maker XP and it fits what I had in mind.

Its ok, i totally understand, one reason i mentioned because i am a Linux user, RPG MakerXP has no Linux (or mac) version,

it seems to work ok in wine http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=937, but

sounds like it wouldn't be all that great. i think we could do a good job if we have good organization, and lots of

people helping. but its ok to do whatever you want, i just wanted to be able to help out and play it XD.
