I first heard of the show sometime last year, and really didn't give it attention and really didn't get its popularity. Then I decided to watch an episode. Soon that turned into another and another, and before I knew it, I had watched the entire season. Then I started watching the episodes when they were new and browsing Equestria Daily as well as My Little Brony. So yeah, I'm kind of hooked on the show.
