  1. This isn't going to turn into a Purple Tinker thread, she's already had enough of that, and I personally don't think I have much of a right to complain. She seems to be able to handle her own issues, and I'm really tired of seeing drama in general. I must say, I'm not like what is described. I'd rather people judge me for who I am rather than what I am, anyway.
  2. Wearing a silhouette RD shirt: "So, is that pony Jesus or something?" Another person: "I thought I was the only brony here!"
  3. Almost as bad as the events actually occurring are people making up actual fake stories, presenting them as legitimate events. Don't think you really care about the people there who had a bad time if you're making fun of them. Oh, and some people called Michelle Creber a liar. Just another thing to put in my "why I never go to Tumblr" file.
  4. For something that Hasbro keeps so secret, they sure do let the toys leak out a lot: Some people think this could be the daughter of Cadance and Shining Armor, but her vector is of a filly, not a newborn. Just like how RD and Pinkie have these kinds of dolls. Maybe she's Cadance's sister, another member of the Crystal Empire monarchy? Wonder how this will be in season 3...
  5. I think it's hilarious the show is voiced by Canadian/Canadian-American VAs and animated mostly in Canada, but the official premieres in Canada are months after it premiers in the US. Yeah, it should probably be on YTV, it's on Nickelodeon in most countries anyway.
  6. It would be a cool episode, just to see what Spike would do. It would probably go horribly wrong, what with it being a plan of Spike's and all.
  7. It didn't start on /mlp/, it started on /co/. Honestly, if people on /co/ had just shut up and let people discuss the show like they have and continue to do for every cartoon they watch, (i.e all of them) it wouldn't have gone past that. Nope, ban discussion for over a year until the demand is so high they get their own board. It's a living example of the Streisand Effect. This fandom is no different than any other, it hasn't changed, it's always been like this. Stop worrying and just enjoy it. I personally cannot wait until season 3 starts so we can stop talking about the fandom "dying" and start talking about the actual show again.
  8. Oh, another thing. This kind of discussion happens amongst bronies way, way too often. It always degenerates into the same arguments, aren't people sick of discussing the same topics over and over again?
  9. The animosity between collectors of previous generations and current fans is saddening.
  10. I know I posted here before, but I just don't like so much. I really don't like Ponychan, /mlp/, Reddit, 9gag, Cheezburger sites, or most places dedicated to pony except for this one. Outside of this forum, the most civil people I encounter are usually in dedicated megathreads on forums unrelated to pony. Ironically, from what I've seen, many pony-dedicated places are usually bad places to discuss pony. But really, what I dislike the most is the mob mentality around haters, among other things. I don't get why people see the actions of others so terrible when it is so easy is disassociate yourself with them if you really don't like them that much. Hate the R34 part? Hate the "spaghetti-filled" part? Why do you have to look at that video and get mad when they're nothing like you? This confuses me more than anything else with this community. I could understand if you have the kind of humor where you enjoy making fun of them, but saying they "ruin the fandom" is hyperbole, as the fandom is made up of many people of many different interests.
  11. It is good for the occasional laugh. Not the best place for discussing pony, but a good laugh. Really, replace "pony" with "anything" and you have 4chan in a nutshell. They are where "Pony Thread Simulators" come from, so a glass house analogy fits.
  12. Infighting and elitism, mostly. /mlp/, Ponychan and Equestria Daily are the absolute worst at this. You realize you all watch the same show and are all the same to anyone outside the community, right? Funny, many people on /mlp/ prefer being called the last thing instead of bronies due to the stigma of a "brony" being socially awkward. They see the term as someone who likes ponies but doesn't flaunt it too openly. Don't care about the more mature side at all, let them do what they want.
  13. I think the person said only for little girls, while this series could potentially have appeal outside its target audience. It still is made for little girls, though.
  14. Wait, they're out? Where did you find them? If you want them, get them. They are quality cards with a few shout outs.
  15. The show also had poor ratings and competed with many other shows on the same network. The Hub launched with MLP, brings in its highest ratings, and is popular among all age groups. If the show were on CN or Nickelodeon, I may see the problem, but Hasbro has the Hub specifically so they don't have to compete with other companie's shows and so they can advertise what they want.
  16. Just look at it. Watch the intro. Not as girly as previous generations, but still pretty girly.
  17. I usually wear subtle things in public, like that shirt with a RD silhouette and 20% cooler on it. If I don't have time to explain, I say it's just from a TV show, usually Big Bang Theory.
  18. This thread has been very interesting and insightful. I had no idea that a cartoon could do this to people, and I'm surprised many people see it as much more than just a show.
  19. I see stories about people who say this show saved their life, cured their depression, and other things I've never heard about a cartoon before. I personally just treat it like any other show that I enjoy. It didn't do anything to me, except it easier to find funny/cute stuff online. It's a good show, but I suppose it didn't affect me in the way it has others. Another thing I've noticed is that people can't seem to lighten up when ponies are involved. Someone says they don't like it and won't watch it, and people freak out. I was going to bring this up anyway, but that Howard Stern discussion made it even more relevant. Is this show such an important part of your being that you can't laugh at jokes made about it or its fans? People also get mad when a confessed brony does something they find embarrassing. I could understand the Fremdschämen thing, but it's not you who's on the pedestal. I mean, anyone who meets you in person will totally know you're one of those dirty "bronies" the second they see you, right? Unless you're wearing a shirt with Fluttershy on it, they won't even bring it up. If they do, why is it so hard to explain who you are and why you like it? Why does a group have to fight for their image when we all can do it so much better individually? What about you? Did ponies change your life, or are they just another cartoon?
  20. Need an obscure TV reference? Perhaps my favorite episode of any cartoon ever. Also, why are .jpgs the only allowed extension?
  21. I used to dislike Rarity, but her character kind of grew on me. Spike and Applejack are the two most underused characters, and should really have more screentime.
  22. Why must people debate this ad nauseam? Just do what you want, as long as it's not hurting anyone, why should you care what some random Youtuber/anon thinks of you?
  23. The show: Mainly just the occasional weak lesson and animation errors. The fandom: Where do I start? - Anti-rule 34 people who think people who like it "ruin the show" and ostracize them - Pro-rule 34 people who call people who don't enjoy it "prudes" and ostracize them - Racial discussions about humanizations - Elitism for doing or not doing something in the fandom (liking r34, cosplay, conventions) - Lack of subtlety from both sides expressing their hate/love - Taking the show too seriously - Assuming that any candy coated rainbow world is Equestria (Meet the Pyro) - People who can't let others make a joke about bronies - Shoving the show in the faces of people who have given it a try and don't like it - "Love and tolerate" - People who care so much about what a stranger on the Internet does in their free time - People who think they have to "defend" the fandom for their own image The last one really confuses me. Like you can't just say, "no, I'm not thatkind of fan?" The odds of it being brought up in conversation are pretty slim, anyway. Oh, and one last thing. I cannot stand when people use "everypony" when referring to humans. It just sounds so weird and unnatural when it's not coming from the mouth of a pony on the show. I groan every time I see it used in that context.
  24. Who wouldn't? The tunes are catchy, but most of the time I want to listen to something else. Another one. I liked The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well and Owl's Well That End's Well. May the Best Pet Win is my least favorite episode.
  25. Elitism and rage on both sides confuses me. Rabid haters are just as bad as rabid fans, and I dislike being around both, to be honest.
