Really, the major reason they're doing this is to open the way for a new toy line. They're probably also using this format to appeal to young girls, the demographic who will most likely be buying most of the related toys. Hasbro would never miss a chance like that. The question is, will she be introduced with a wholy diffrent back story or will it be an unspoken cannon that she's from the human world? I personally view fanfiction as it's own bubble of reality, it's own universe entirely separate from the reality of the universe it's based off of.
