((Got a minute free to post, figured there was plenty drama. So I'll add to it.))

 

 

'What? What's she doing to... Oh.

 

Cinder realised that she was glaring at Nightblaze, though she didn't know why. Something just suddenly made her resent the unicorn.

 

'But... But...

 

What did Nightblazethink she was doing to her friend?

 

"... and why do I care? He's my friend, I'm happy for him!" She thought aloud to herself.

Minty trotted up to Silver when she saw him trotting back to camp. "Silver! Silver! I actually got the nerve to kiss Redwave!" she fangirled, her wings allowing her to lie down in the air. She noticed his sad expression. "Silver? Are you alright?" Minty asked, her smile fading.

 

"Me? yeah... I'm fine! just fine... couldn't be better! See..." He gave her a big forced smile. then something occurred to  him. He was being selfish! Why should he want Minty when she wanted Redwave... and sure Red was an aaaaaa..... ur... he was... an... asset... yes that's it... but even if Silver didn't get along with Red... he knew that being selfish was just not who he wanted to be.

 

"Minty, I'm so happy for you. I wish  you and Redwave all the joy in the future." he gave Minty a soulful hug. and thus... Silver found the element of generosity.

 

 

 

' Don't worry Silver, you will find your very special somepony. You just have to wait and see.'' Fireblaze kisses Silver on the cheek.   Walking with Silver, with a smile on her face.  

 

Silver's face took on a crazed expression. 

 

"What the... Fireblaze!" Silver backed up several steps and fell backwards into the water

"It uh... took me by surprise that's all... What about Impetus!" he said, trying desperately to try to bring her back to her senses. There realy WAS something in the water! Everypony was going crazy.... Wait... Fire was already crazy and he'd accepted that... but crazy about him? NO WAY

I guess everypony thinks that I like somepony. How predictable.

Cinder retreated to the shadows in the far corners of the cave - she didn't know what was wrong with her: why she felt such a deep loathing when..

 

She just needed to be alone, she figured. To figure out why her mind was so conflicted about her companions... Her friends...

"Oh MInty this is AWFUL." he said with an over dramatic tone. "I feel bad now... Just look at Fireblaze... I've hurt her feelings... but I don't feel that way about her at all... and Cinder.... Cinder... she's in love with that Scribe person so it doesn't  matter how I feel about her!" Oops... did he just admit to Minty that he felt something for Cinder... 

 

'I mean that... even if I did feel something for Cinder... which of course I don't... but it wouldn't matter and since I don't then it doesn;t matter anyway... but now  I have to worry about hurting Fire's feelings.

 

This is the worst disaster EVER!"

Redwave looked over towards Silver: he needed to speak with both ponies, but preferably not at the same time. Thankfully it seemed like he had gotten distracted by a singalong.

 

"I am afraid that I suspect that you may be... quite taken with a specific other? It would not be fair for me to allow this infatuation to continue, sweet Minty, and we have known each precious little more than a day..."

 

He glanced around again - they were most certainly alone. Or as alone as they were likely to get, given the type of company they kept.

 

"It would not be fair to allow it to continue without making this abundantly clear..."

 

'Red, what are you doing? Is this such a good...'

 

His usual jauntiness replaced with a clearly fake confidence, he leant in and kissed the green mare.

"Well at least somepony gets the right girl." Silver thought miserably, glancing over at Cinder in the corner who was looking quite... he couldn't put his hoof on it... lost? alone? confused?

 

Oh she misses that Scribe person really badly He thought. Why cant I get so lucky in love?

 

 A song started playing in Silver Notes head.

 

 

 

He finally manged to get away from Fires embrace and with a quick

 

Excuse me a moment" Trotted over towards Redwave and Minty. Might as well see what his hero-ship wanted.

Minty blushed. The stallion of her dreams just kissed her. Since the moment she laid her eyes on Redwave she's dreamed of this moment; and it was happening before her very eyes. When she heard the sound of hooves trotting, she quickly pulled away and pretended she wasn't doing anything, but her blush was huge. It literally spread all over her face as she looked away. She looked up to see Silver staring at them, and if it was even possible, blushed more. She did enjoy the kiss while it lasted though.. She gave a small smile to Redwave. She knew who she liked.

Silver Note hesitated, not wanting to interfere with the moment. He held back. Then made a decision. 

 

Let old wonderfoal approach me instead. He decided. He found a corner of the cave to lie down in and resumed his usual pose.

 

 

(OOC just a quick little sketch I did of a earlier scene but it fits this one also.)

Well, the world hadn't ended. And Minty hadn't ran away or slapped him... So all in all, Red put this down as a success. His mind went a little fuzzy as he watched the mare blush furiously and he wondered if he was doing likewise: a downside to a white coat was how easily these things tended to show.

 

"Aha, one moment, my dear."

 

He rounded on Silver, still in a somewhat dazed state and forgetting how to put on his typical level of bravado.

 

"This is not easy for me to say, so please, listen. Without your advice, I believe that I would have... I would have let down sweet Minty back by that pool. Thank you."

 

He hadn't lied: it wasn't easy. Still, if not for the Pegasus... Who knew what might have happened to the sweet filly?

 

"This changes nothing between us, but perhaps I... may have underestimated you in certain regards. I wish to apologise for such occurrences."

 

Red drew his sword and lay it on the ground between them. He hadn't seen any evidence that the other stallion actually carried a weapon, but the symbol of peace still applied... probably.

 

"I might not like you, Silver, but I would have no doubts about your trustworthiness, or loyalty to your cause. Again, I feel I may have underestimated you. My apologies."

Silver looked up from his pose at the larger white stallion who seemed to be looming over him from where he lay. He tried to remember all that Derpy had told him, that maybe there was more beneath the surface. 

 

He had no words to say. He scrambled to his hooves facing Redwave eye to eye.

 

Silver didn't have a sword or even a pocket knife... his only weapon was....

 

He took his bugle out of his saddle bag and laid it on the ground, then extended his hoof for a hoof shake.

 

"I'm just....  glad she is ok"

 

There was a little pang of loss inside him, but it would pass. He had to do what was right for Minty, not for himself. Besides... he was in love with somepony else.

Red nodded, looking down at the bugle - not exactly conventional... But the sentiment was there.

 

Grasping the hoof, he shook it once and added "I can respect that."

 

He turned to take his leave.

 

"Let us try to keep this discourse between ourselves, yes? I do still have something of a reputation to uphold."

Silver Note smirked. He could care less about a reputation. The most important things to him were that his friends were safe, and that they were happy. It's what you do for your friends.

 

"I'm nothing like him." Silver Note thought. "And I'm quite glad of that"

 

Silver still didn't particularly like Redwave, but he could respect how hard it must have been for the arrogant upstanding stallion to apologize. Something he'd never expected.

 

"I thought his ego was too big for that, but maybe Derpy is right and there is more to him than meets the eye."

 

Silver resumed his former slump waiting for Lyona to finish swimming and give him some orders.... anything to get his mind off other things.

Silver glanced up at Lyona. He wasn't sure to take that as an order, or a suggestion.

 

"I'm afraid to ask" he admitted with out thinking what the buck it was he was saying! Oh yes, he'd been concerned, worried, wished that he could go over and comfort her, ask her what was wrong... Place a comforting hoof on her back...  but he'd already decided he knew what was wrong and couldn't bear to hear it.

 

He hesitated...

 

"Was that an order?"

Lyona hesitated for a few seconds before sighing, and landing on the ground.

 

" Yes, and no. I won't force you to comfort her, but she looks like she really needs somebody to comfort her. You're one of her best friends from this group. Heck, you're probably her only best friend from all of us. Please. Go talk to her."

Silver sighed. He wanted to say...

 

"isn't it more important to complete this mission..." but he knew in his heart that it wasn't more important... Not to him.

 

"Alright" he agreed.

 

Then wandered cautiously over to Cinderblock, laying down beside her. At first saying nothing.

 

"What the hay do I say???" He thought. then plucking up all the courage that he had, he asked,....

 

"Are you ok Cinder, something on your mind?"

"What? Me? Oh no. Nothing on my mind, just... you know, scouting. This corner. Over here."

 

She waved vaguely around her without looking at him.

 

'What is wrong with you Cinder? Stop acting like a filly!'

 

"Uhm, congratulations? I saw you with 'Blaze, I'm really happy for you." She said stiffly, seemingly finding a section of the wall of great interest all of a sudden.

"Blaze!" Silver exclaimed. "Blaze and are not... I have no interest in Blaze. She's just.... having a moment or something. In all honesty I think shes just trying to get revenge on me for making Impetus kiss her. I don't know why though, not like she hasn't been making eyes at him ever since he flew in on us."

 

He paused. She looked so sad and lost. With a slow and hesitant motion, Silver raised his hoof and draped it cautiously over her shoulders.

 

"I know something is wrong and you can trust me with it.... You can trust me with anything. You know I really do care about you."

 

Silver felt a little flustered, being this close to Cinder, but he knew he could't let his own feelings get in the way of helping her. He so wanted to... brush her mane away from her eyes and look into them... but he knew that would be too forward and inappropriate. He was determined to support her. No matter how much it could potentially hurt. He braced himself to hear the truth.

 

"I'll stand by you no matter what" he thought to himself.
