Equestria Girls Comic Discussion

So, someone once mentioned that the Equestria Girls comic may or may not fill in plot-holes left behind in the original film, from the other five main ponies staying behind while Twilight entered the mirror with just Spike, to the reason why Twilight didn't have a humanized double.

 

Do you think the comics will address those problems, while writing good individual stories?

I was under the impression that the movie had already touched on those. Although I may be mistaken, I unfortunately haven't been able to see it yet. I'd be interested in checking these out though, if they make them. I've been enjoying the other comics quite a bit, and some humanized shenanigans could certainly be interesting .

Oh, I believe they have, even though they aren't justified enough.  I didn't watch the film, but other people mentioned the following:

 

1. Twilight's friends did not enter the human world with her because it would've disrupted the balance of Equestria.  Unfortunately, IMO, it created the side-effect of making Twilight's friends become useless, dead weight, and easily replaceable with cheap, humanized knock-offs of themselves.

 

2. Human Pinkie asked if Twilight had a twin, which most people interpreted that Twilight did have a human counterpart, it's just that she was conspicuously absent.  But really, I don't believe that, because Human Pinkie first met Twilight and asked her on a hunch.

 

If the comics do come out, I hope they do address those two plot-holes in the film.

"Touched on those"?  As in sending all six of the Elements of Harmony would disrupt the balance of both worlds, and that Human Pinkie once asked Twilight if she had a twin, which isn't really a hint that there was another Twilight in the human-world, it's just that she asked her on a hunch.  Right?

Yes, that's more or less it, although I take Pinkie's question as a hint that Twilight has an alternate universe equivalent. I don't really see why she wouldn't, and although I'm working entirely without context and Pinkie is prone to doing strange things, I doubt that she just up and asks random people if they happen to have twins. I don't see why that line was included in the movie, rather than some other meaningless line or joke, if not to imply the existence of human Twily. If you want to think that it's completely unrelated though, feel free.

 

Someone a long time ago once suggested that human Twilight was homeschooled, and I think this makes sense, given that I believe EQG was established as a world where the Mane Six weren't friends for whatever reason (I think Sunset Shimmer had something to do with it, if I remember correctly). Given her antisocial and bookish tendencies, and how she began the series as a pony, her being homeschooled fits perfectly. I wouldn't be surprised if the comics focused on the other Mane Six humans finding human Twilight and beginning adventures of their own.

It has been announced by IDW that they are going to publish an Equestria Girls comic. I read about it on Equestria Daily. I think this sounds pretty nice. What are your thoughts about it?

The comic better be downright cathartic to make up for the cliché apocalypse that was Equestria Girls. That being said I wont even consider reading them until some plot summaries come out at least.

I just cannot wait for these comics. I really loved the Equestria Girls movie, and I'm certain I will love the new comic books.

Hello there . We already happened to have a thread dedicated to discussing the upcoming EQG comics, and rather than have two threads for speculating and sharing opinions on them, they have been merged together. The thread title has been altered a bit as well.

 

I've been enjoying the main series of comics a lot so far, and I'll definitely be giving these a read if I can .

Yeah but if you notice twilight never says spike's name and Pinky ask's her do you have a twin sister with a dog named spiked and blah and twilight just responded accordingly. I feel that confirms the twin twilight but the others being useless I don't think counts cause they were there with her in the human world, they weren't cheap knock offs they were the human versions of the ponies.

Have you read the Micro series? Its also pretty silly so far. 

And I agree the main comic is really good, i like how they brought Princess Luna back into the fold of things.

I am Pumped for this, I hope its as good as the Queen Chrysalis arc but I want them to fill in some gaps from the movie before they go into stand alone plots for the human versions. I do hope we see sunset shimmer doing good as well.

I've fallen a bit behind on everything, since I read everything that was released in a big binge about a month or so ago and haven't read anything since, but I've read the Rarity, Twilight and Dashie Micros.

 

I think this would be a great way to go a bit more into Sunset Shimmer too. The movie didn't really have the time to use her to her full potential in my opinion, so getting some more backstory and information about her would be fantastic.

Honestly, I enjoyed the Equestria Girls movie, and I think high school shenanigans could be pretty fun in comic form. That, and I am actually curious about Sunset Shimmer. She stayed in the alternate world, so it would make sense if she's in the comics, and I see that as a good opportunity to develop the character since she may not appear in the show. I just hope the art style will be decent. I'm not a big fan of the FiM comics so far, but I'll stay optimistic about whatever IDW has in store.
