Darkshift smiled as he gazed at the amazing view "Yeah it really is special"Darkshift commented scanning the whole view.Darkshift realised he could see te whole island in his view this fact amazed him.As he took in the jawdropping view he felt a light breeze cool him.

"Aw buck.... why does this always happen to me?!"

 

"Oh no, I'm so, so, sorry Sunset." Windy said, taking a step back away from her. "I didn't know you were trying to hide scars by having your mane that way... I'm really sorry." he said, looking away in embarrassment. Still without facing her, he lifted a hoof to his mane, which was parted low over the left side of his skull. Pulling it up, he revealed his vicious and disgusting scar that he had gotten from his concussion. "I know what its like to hide scars, and for me, this scar is a mark of my failure, of my inability to be a pro soccer player. It, and the migraines it causes daily, are always telling me that I'll never be the best, never be as good as I wanted to be. I know it doesn't compare to your scars, but at least I can empathize with you. I didn't mean to intrude." he said, awkwardly looking anywhere but at Sunset for a few moments. "Maybe I should just go....." he said after a pause, turning to walk away.

"So what do you want to do now?" Pink Mist looked into Darkshift's red eyes. Man, they sure were something. Really interesting to look at, because they were so unique. She was glad he had accepted to come with her, she was having a really nice time. Pink hoped that he felt the same way.

Darkshift looked back into Pink's eyes and wondered about there next travel "I guess we should go get some dinner"He stated noticing his hunger about to arise."You fancy going back to the hotel for food or finding a restaurant on the island?"Darkshift asked,not to fussed where they were eating.

((Lol Cinder no he can't. But Sunset won't really blame him. She's too good-natured to be mad at him, she'll just feel awkward around him, and blame herself for this little accident xP It's just how she sees things.))

 

Sunset was trembling, terrified, and wanted to run away, but he showed her his scar and listening to his story was the least she could do.

"I-I-I'm s-sorry about your s-scar..." Her voice was tiny, barely a whisper.

"I-it-it's just... I-I'm afraid... O-of getting b-bullied ... L-like I have b-been, a-a-all my life... because of these stupid scars." 

Words floated through her head as she spoke. Words and phrases that she had been told several times all throughout her life, all of which she had come to believe.

'it's all your fault!'

'Weakling!'

'Worthless.'

'Stupid.'

'You make everything worse.'

'Emo.'

'Orphans don't belong.'

'Waste of space.'

'St-stop!'

Sunset put her hooves to her head, trying to stop the memories, but they came. She let the tears flow for a moment. and hung her head,hiding her fave completely.

"Y-you don't have to go... It's m-me who should go. I'm sorry for bothering you... Sorry I'm so weak and useless...." She tried to force herself to speak without stuttering,, but she was still quiet. she swiftly re-entered the hotel, and galloped through the lobby, tears blurring her vision. She ended up inl. She collapsed near the wall and curled up in a little ball.

"Let's check out one of the restaurants on the island. I'm curious as to what they have." Pink trotted with Darkshift beside her out of the castle. They made their way to a small but elegant looking restaurant near the hotel. "Looks nice, I just hope they have good eats." She commented. "Oh yeah, you still owe me those apple ciders!" She poked Darkshift jokingly while winking. "Just kidding, you don't owe me anything."

Darkshift laughed and said "No,no a deal's a deal,you can have all the apple ciders you want"Darkshift stated."Hope it isn't crowded"Darkshift said before opening the door for Pink and gesturing her inside the little resteraunt.He could smell something lovely cooking in the kitchen.

Windy just stood still, frozen in surprise and shock. After a few more moments of being rooted to the spot, he smashed his hoof into his face in a massive facehoof. "Argh! Why am I always so stupid!?" he said, angrily winding back his hoof and kicking the ashtray that stood in front of the lobby doors. "Ow, BUCK! Now my hoof hurts, I'm an idiot, and nothing is going right! I need a vacation from this vacation!" he yelled, hopping around, looking like an idiot.

Emerald noticed the mare she had failed to communicate with earlier come bolting past her, tears streaming down her face, as she wondered where she could head next for entertainment.

 

Whether it was her misguided desire to help, or whether she just felt guilty about earlier, she didn't know. Regardless, she followed the mare.

 

"Hey! Hey, wait!" she called out.

Pink and Darkshift were seated at a table and a waiter approached them. Everything looked really nice, and something smelled great from the kitchen. Pink looked at Darkshift mischeviously and asked for an apple cider. "What are you gonna get?" she asked him.

Darkshift jokingly shook his head at her order "I'll have a water"Darkshift stated to the waiter before the waiter went to go get the drinks.Darkshift looked at the menu "What do you want to eat?"Darkshift asked noticing the waiter getting the drinks.

"Hmm, this looks really good but I'm feeling in the mood for some pasta." (Don't know if ponies eat spaghetti but I'll just take a guess) "With alfredo sauce." She ordered and waited for Darkshift to get his food as well. Pink wondered if now that they were eating dinner together, it was officially considered a date. She was thrilled at the prospect of it but didn't say anything, just in case Darkshift thought otherwise.

Darkshift looked at the selection of food and decided to get the fajitas (just for the randomness)"And I'll have the fajitas with rice"The waiter went to go get the food.Darkshift smiled at Pink and decided to ask "So,how are you?"He asked this hoping to get a conversation started before the waiter returned.

Sunset heard the mare's voice calling out to her, and she lifted her head slightly from the little ball she'd curled into. She saw the pony cantering towards her. It was the mare from earlier. Sunset hid her face in her mane. She was too choked up and terrified to speak. She was hyper-aware of the slits that marred her body now, and felt like they were like signs saying "Hey! Look at me!!"

She scooched farther into the corner and used her tail to try to cover the other side of her body, as if it could erase the scars.

She wanted to be alone, but didn't have the courage or willpower to tell the mare to leave her alone.

"Oh I'm doing well. Very well." Pink Mist looked into Darkshift's eyes again, and really hoped he was having as much of a good time as her. "I recovered pretty easily from my "hangover" last night. I just had a little headache but a mud bath took care of that." She blushed slightly at the memory of her "episode" the previous night. She hoped he didn't think less of her because of that.

"Yeah,last night was fun,wasn't it?"Darkshift grinned as he remembered the drunken mare toppling over.Darkshift looked back into the mare's green eyes."Who was the dude you were talking to when you had breakfast?"Darkshift politely asked,just curious about what was going on.

Somethings got the poor thing scared.' emerald though as she slowed to a walk. no, she's not scared, she's terrified...'

Walking over to the shivering ball that was the pony she had followed, Emerald stopped just close enough so that she could be heard without raising her voice and sat on the ground, facing away from her - it was clear she was trying to hide.

"Hey. Rough day?" She asked as softly as she could.

"Oh he's just a stallion I happened to talk to this morning. I don't really know him. I know his name but well, I saw he was alone and I just like to talk to people." Pink Mist hoped he wasn't thinking something else, like if she was flirting with that stallion or not. She was just social and liked to talk to ponies who were alone and looked like they needed company. That's how she made most of her friends, typical conversation.

"Oh right,that's fine"Darkshift said losing his suspicions."So,what's your favourite animal?"Darkshift was running out of conversation cards and he knew he couldn't be portrayed as boring because that would ruin his chances.Darkshift took a few sips of his fresh water.

"Well I guess I love bunny rabbits the most, they're just so adorable and furry. After rabbits I guess parrots, I mean the fact that they can talk to you. AMAZING!! Even if they just repeat it's pretty impressive. So what about you, what's your favorite?" Pink could tell that he was running out of conversation material. That was fine, at least he was trying to keep things going smoothly. She felt that she really did enjoy spending time with him. He was pretty easy to talk to, and he was handsome. She blushed slightly, hoping he wouldn't see.

Stone looked at the view "y-yeah....it has" she said with her teeth starting to chatter. She was now so bucking scarred now. 'Now if I fall now it won't be the fall, it'll be me drowning in water, fabulous' she said. "M-m-m-maybe we should go to a restaurant instead if this, ok? ok great!" She said getting all nervous.

Noon gave Stone a concerned look, backing way from the ledge. "What's wrong?" She asked. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you nervous." She watched as her legs wobbled slightly. "Are you afraid of heights?" Noon said as nicely as she could, "I'm sorry, you should have told me! We didn't have to go mountain climbing." She smiled, purposely inching back towards the path.

"Parrots actually kind of freak me out,So yeah but personally my favourite is Dogs,because they're loyal and a lot of fun"Darkshift stated whilst noticing Pink blushing,he wondered what she was thinking about he thought of a few random possibilities but decided not to pursue any of them

"They freak you out? That's funny. But I agree, dogs are really loyal. I read this book once about a dog who journeyed a long way just to be reunited with his owner. Made me cry." Pink was glad the conversation was running smoothly, hopefully it wouldn't reach an awkward silence at any point. "So, you never told me where you're from. Mind telling me?"

"I was born and raised in Cloudsdale but I have been travelling for a couple of years now"Darkshift answered again taking a few sips of water after he spoke.Darkshift decided to ask "So,whats the craziest thing you've ever done in you're life"He was hoping for some extraordinary tale.

"Well it's between two things, one is when I went to a Canterlot ball with a friend. Everything was running smoothly until I asked him to get me some punch to drink, apparently he told me later he had spiked my drink with something super strong just to see what would happen. I got drunk after I drank alot of punch and I started dancing around the room crazily, running into people and saying really stupid stuff. I even got in a fight with some guy after I bumped into him and woke up the next day with a black eye. Yeah, it wasn't pretty." She blushed a little and hoped he wouldn't think bad of her for that.

"Then this other time me and another friend decided to test our bravery and camp out in the Everfree Forest. It was fine until a pack of Timberwolves found our camp and chased us through the forest. After that we got hopelessly lost and even started confessing really embarassing secrets to each other just in case we didn't make it. We eventually found the part of the Everfree that leads into Ponyville and escaped the craziness for good. My friend still torments me about some of the stuff I told him that night. Really embarassing!"
