Blique 211 July 12, 2013 Share July 12, 2013 (edited) Hello, you may know me from my general art thread, but if you don't, nice to meet you. I make pony scarves, and I'm currently a bit troubled. I want to try a new pony color, but the materials are expensive because I have to buy in bulk. I'm planning on selling the scarves later, so I wanted opinions - if you had the money and interest, what pony scarf would you want? If you're a guy who doesn't wear fluffy scarves for some reason, imagine you're getting it for your girlfriend, mom or sister without telling them what it is. There's a poll for voting (if I figured out this posting system right), and you can choose more than one. If your choice isn't on the poll, post it here. Note that this isn't necessarily a favorite character poll - consider also which character's color palette you find most appealing. Then once I order the materials and make the scarves, I'll post the pictures. Blique 211 July 14, 2013 Author Share July 14, 2013 Hmm, so Luna's winning (I happened to vote for Zecora and Rarity....nice to know there are others who like them). I ordered some material for Luna, then I ordered different materials, one each for Lyra and Bonbon. The reason being both of these types come in Luna color as well (and Bonbon's colors look so good!), so it's three birds with one stone, sorta. Anyway, they've shipped, and they should supposedly arrive any day now. While I was waiting, I knitted Photo Finish. Seems Rainbow Dash is tied for the lead now. Will try to find some good Rainbow Dash scarf stuffs. For example, I'm using those perler bead crafts just to identify the pony, but I could sew them onto the ends if you think it would look good. Or I could find star-shaped charms to sew on for Luna, or apple charms for Big Mac (where does one find green apple charms?). Of course, these would probably make it less comfortable, so I've never tried it. Or what about accessories? I could make matching scrunchies, though I'm not sure how well those work when they're not elastic. State your wishes, and I will humbly attempt them. Blique 211 July 18, 2013 Author Share July 18, 2013 (edited) In regard to guys wearing it: Hmm...Personally, they remind me of French cravats, which I consider absolutely essential in an outfit of elegant and intelligent masculinity. Put those on a girl and they'll become manly. But like MLP, ruffles are indeed considered by some to be "unmanly". =/ Which is ridiculous because cravats are the epitome of a gentleman, second only to a top hat. I personally think guys would look great wearing it, but it's reasonable to be worried about the reactions of society. I do think no one would find it out of place at a brony or anime convention though, so you could always save it for those. I'm thinking of pricing them at $25 to $35. If I had one i'd probaly have a Luna one, or maybe like Rainbow dash, not sure. Twilights one looks a bit strange as much as I like her color scheme. Or one of my OC would be cool if I got one. Hmm, well, I was thinking of giving discounts to my first customers...I just edited my prices, but I'm still planning on charging $30 for a single scarf, and $20 per scarf only if you buy in a bundle of three or more. $20 would mean a discount of $10...I could give you a discount and make it $20 each for two, but otherwise it'll be $25 for one. What kind of thing though? I can use perler beads or charms, or even felt, but which is preferred? Cadence, hmm...I can get the material for that imported from Turkey, but naturally it would take a bit of time before I can show you the result. ^^; I'll definitely get some next time I make an order though. Those are all made from scarf material I found in nearby stores, and I could only find Twilight's color in that kind of material ^^; I agree it's a bit strange-looking. But I recently found a way to buy a lot of different types from Turkey, so now there's a lot more fluffier options for Twilight. It really all depends on what material I can find. Can you believe they don't offer anything in rainbow? What kind of society is this! I'm still on the journey to find a good Rainbow Dash. Seems this type of scarf requires double the amount of material. =/ But it looks cool, so it'll still be up for sale at the same price as the others. There's a lot of different types of scarves that come in a Luna/Nightmare Moon pattern, so tell me if you see any type you'd rather have. It might be a while til I get through the forum store commission process thing, so I'll probably be able to make a few more scarf types and post samples in the meantime. Forgot Pinkie...This pattern comes in four feet rather than the usual six, though it's still quite long enough for wearing unless you wrap it around your neck twice.
