Shawn Parks 1,799 July 14, 2013 Share July 14, 2013 I thought that it would be interesting to get Bronies' reactions this upcoming documentary. "A new documentary brought to us by MissRepresentation entitled The Mask You Live In will be exploring the systemic societal problems caused by toxic masculinity. " There doesn't seem to be a video available that I can embed, so you guys will have to follow a link to see the trailer and get more information about it. If you are interested in discussing the film, that is. http://www.policymic.com/articles/54105/the-one-thing-all-men-feel-but-never-admit
John 793 July 14, 2013 Share July 14, 2013 Can you explain more clearly what exactly is meant by "the systemic societal problems caused by toxic masculinity?" I can kind of get the general idea but It could be one of two things.
Shawn Parks 1,799 July 14, 2013 Author Share July 14, 2013 Can you explain more clearly what exactly is meant by "the systemic societal problems caused by toxic masculinity?" I can kind of get the general idea but It could be one of two things. "Since most men grow up in toxic environments where they are encouraged to repress their emotions, express power through dominance and prove their masculinity, it's no wonder that these pressures result in serious consequences for them. The film shares troubling statistics. Did you know that boys are 30% more likely to drop out of school? They are also seven times more likely to take their own lives than girls." Does that help? John 793 July 14, 2013 Share July 14, 2013 Hm.. Yeah I guess so. I was thinking more of "societal problems" on a macro level. Interesting fact: while in general, the nation's suiside rate is higher for male's, more women in graduate and medical school kill themselves than men. That is probably explained by the smaller sample size of women than men (mostly 'alpha' types who burn themselves out and freak out over the slightest deadline... think Twilight from 'lesson zero').

Haha you're probably right about that. Good thing Twilight didn't get to the point where she would consider suicide in lesson zero. It's distressingly common that those kinds of things happen to people, but I guess that's because colleges try to get those kinds of people over "normal" (aggressive betas and passive omegas) people with average grades.
