Mywas 687 July 18, 2013 Share July 18, 2013 I just noticed that There seems to be something in the five villains we had so far. Sunset and NMM And Chrysalis all had a reason to be evil while Sombra and Discord were just doing it for their own amusement. also Sunset and NMM were redeemed and Chrysalis wasnt even punished. while Sombra was Killed(For now) and Discord was brought back to his stone Prison(Keep Calm and Flutter on happened after his episode so it doesnt count). Now What Sunset NMM and Chrysalis all have in common and what Discord and Sombra have in common. you guessed it, gender. as you see in MLP the female villains are given a reason to be evil and are either redeemed or set free in Chrysalis case. however the Male Villains are given no reason to be evil and arent redeemed afterwards(Like I said KCAFO happened after Discords debute episode). The only way to confirm if this theory is true is to wait for another make villain and see if he is given a reason or if hes redeemed, Credits to Mint Drop for an awesome Sig. Evilshy 5,090 July 18, 2013 Share July 18, 2013 We know next to nothing about Sombra, which is part of his design. He's this mysterious thing that wants to kill you. you don't know why, or how, or where he is until he actually strikes. Even in the show, he was a cloud of smoke, which embodies this. Maybe his motivation is boring and his backstory stupid, but it doesn't really matter because we don't know anything about him. Discord's motivation is that he is basically an avatar of chaos. He exists to spread chaos. Maybe that;s boring, but he's a great character regardless. And why does his redemption not count just because it happened later? 4 Signature now 99% less edgy! Batbrony 16,055 July 19, 2013 Share July 19, 2013 (edited) Agreed with everything Evilshy said. Another issue with the OP; did you just seriously say that Sunset has a clear motivation??? Oh please, pray tell, explain this for me, cause I'd love to hear how the worst villain the show's had thus far had a clear motivation! XD Frankly, I don't even see the problem with villains not having a crystal clear motivation. I think only NMM has had a crystal clear motivation thus far; all the other major villains (yes even Chrysalis, just because we knew her plan/goals doesn't mean her motivation for being evil was clear) have basically been evil for the sake of being evil or desiring power, even if their goals were more complicated. Ya know, there's really nothing wrong with that; sometimes people are really evil bastards just because they like doing crap like that, and too often these days I think media entertainment for all ages forgets that and tries to present sympathetic villains in an inordinate amount. So kudos to DHX for bucking the trend. Edited July 19, 2013 by Batbrony "You'll hunt me. You'll condemn me, set the dogs on me. Because that's what needs to happen.
