Acrylic WiPs

Hello everypony! After many hours of work, I'm finally ready to start sharing my ideas and works in progress. I've been a little apprehensive about posting them. I know that a great slice of MLP artwork is digital, but I'm venturing into the realm of paint on canvas. I feel like I'm cursed with too much inspiration sometimes, because I start a piece, get another idea, and just end up with a pile of great, but uncompleted work.

But here they are anyways!

These are very awesome!  I like everything about these especially the text in the Pinky Pie one.  It seems Applejack's mane gets cut off with a tree, but I don't know if this was intentional or not.

Those are absolutely beautiful! Fantastic, I love the AJ one. Have you any of Rainbow Dash? I think after I save up some money I'd happily commission a painting from you! Do you do commissions? Would you mail them so I could put one on my wall?

...

THOSE ARE BUCKING AMAZING!

Thanks, Dusty Soul! I'm in the process of replacing all my cheaper acrylics with ones with better pigments. Affordable paint usually means I'm going over the same spot five+ times in order to get the color coverage I'd like. So an undefined/lighter spot looks like I haven't layered. I'm all for bright highlights and contrast.

And Meirno, I do have a very awesome Shadowbolt Rainbow Dash in the works too. When these are all done I will have prints made. But if you'd like something special, message me with what you have in mind. :D

I'll wait for you to finish("finish" :P) the shadowbolt dashie, and see how she turns out. If I like what I see, I will be sure to message you as far as specifics. But so far I just love the style.

These look very good indeed, love the crisp look.

I can make out some minor details (Aj's hat getting kinda lost in the bacground, the lower texture of Pinkie's shirt) but these being WIP,

there's not much sense in pointing them out.

Which canvas size are you using and are you going to post the end results here?

The are lovely! I really like your style!

Have you considered working with Oil Paints? They take longer to dry and they're more expensive, but in my experience, they're much nicer to work with. I think they'll suit your style quite nicely.  :)

These are fairly small, actually. Each is on 6x12 from Blick. I'm really liking a longer canvas so I can do more sky-work. Once I hash out enough time to get these all tidied up I'll post again in their completed glory.

I sure have. I actually use some thinned oils for washes on miniatures, and stuff. But as far as my canvas paintings go, I think acrylic gives me less of a headache. I'm actually trying out a combo of high pigment paint and Open thinners to blend better. So far they're working great for the red backgrounds in the Pinkie piece.

Rock, you are a rock. Gray, you are gray. Like a rock, which you are. Rock.
