Fire Horn trotted upstairs to keep an eye on Ghost, he was a bit of a loose cannon right now, so they would need to be ready, just in case he tried to murder Grand or Starburst or anyone else for that matter.

"So, Grand, wanna try and look at that spell? I brought Starburst up with me, seeing as how he is just good at magic in general." Fire Horn asked.

 

(It's not his special talent, it's just an innate ability.)

Grand nodded and handed him the spell. "I dont know about you, but its gonna take awhile to get this spell down" she said seriously. she showed it to Starburst. " I dont suppose the littl alicorn knows how to do this spell does he?" she said with a smile. "I just hope we can get it down before anything... happens"

Grand hobbled over to Ghost. "wow, that was speedy!" she said, attaching the leg. It felt alot more rigid. It should work nicely" Thank you" she said politely. "I think Im ready to start learning the spell" she said, pulling it out. "but I wont be able to do it right away. Maybe Fire should try and learn it too, just in case" she said, reading the words closely.

"Well, you have about three days. I found out what happens then... and it's not good. But, no matter. I'll try not to go, well, insane again until then." Ghost snickers a little bit. But he knew that if what is going to happen in three days would be no laughing matter. "Um, Grand, could I tell you something I've been wanting to tell you for quite awhile now?"

Fire Horn turned around and stared at Ghost semi-angrily.

"I should be able to, according to my magic teacher, i'm an alicorn, which means i have the ability to quickly learn any spell that i read or see performed." Starburst said. "It's like Mummy having her special talent as magic."

Carrick took his time to look around the house. The sounds of trotters was silent here. Probably from all the chaos from the other side of the city. They won't be here for the time being.

 

Though, staying in this city means will always be in trouble. He took a look around. Nothing bad over here. He took a deep breath as he pulled out a canteen and took a few swigs of water. Not much left, we need to find the river soon. Carrick thought as he place it back into his coat. He walked himself back into the house. 

 

The word...homely is the best word to describe the house he was in. The room hasn't had the familiar smell of decay. Just the smell of musky wood. He took his glance at the kitchen. Seeing the stove top. Might be able to jerry rig this for something. Maybe I can purify the water here. Carrick poked his chin. "Probably need a unicorn for this as well." Carrick thought aloud.  He took himself out of the kitchen and into the living room. All the ponies were upstairs,as he trailed himself up there.

 

Conversation about reversing the spell were all about. Carrick chimed in, "Well, I know this isn't a good time, but I need somepony to help me go gets some water from the river. We won't last any longer without some water."

Grand looked up from the spell. "We arent going to let hatever is supposed to happen, happen. I promise." she said seriously. "What was it you wanted to tell me?" she said, still a little distracted by the spell. she figured the alicorn had a better chance of learning it then she did anyway.

"Okay, i'll come with you then." Fire Horn said. "Now, Starburst, behave while i'm gone, okay, be nice to Grand." Fire Horn said this with his eyebrows raised.

"Yes, daddy." Starbrust said begrudgingly. Fire Horn nodded

"Good, i'll be back momentarily." Fire Horn said cheerily. "After you, detective pony-face."

[Solana 2]

Solana moves quietly, catching an unwanted air. She is trailing after Starburst's dad and the intimidating detective. The little zebra is silent in word behind them, her little hooves making rhythms on the semi solid ground. Her ears pricked up and eyes observant, she tries following after the earth pony's movements. Intimidation also hold admiration, it would seem.

"Carrick Murphy, Mister Unicorn-Man." Carrick joked back as he walked out of the house. Carrick heard the pitter-patter sounds of somepony-

 

Wait, he turns as he notices Solana. Walking along him. He knew that bringing a child wouldn't be such a smart idea, but she knew this whole area way better than any of the ponies in the group. "Solana," Carrick look down at Solana "can you help me find the river?"

Ghost could tell that Fire Horn wasn't happy with him. He felt like all of his joy just plummeted into darkness. He then jumped out of the building and flipped to the top. He just needed to be alone for a while. He needed time to process what happened to him an hour ago.

Grand watched him leave and huffed. "very well, we shall talk later. Now then Starburst, It looks like its just you and me. What would you like to do?" It was nice to have someone to look after again, even if only for awhile. " I know! Why dont I show you a cool little trick" she said smiling. She pulled out a few chunks of rubble on the ground and began juggling them. Being a theatre pony taught her how to do all sorts of entertainment, including circus acts

Starburst wanted to follow Ghost to see what was wrong, but he was distracted by Grand.

"That's some basic magic, though, but the way you use it is very cool." Starburst said. "I'd rather not show off any of my own talents just in case i blow the roof off." Starburst laughed un-enthusiastically.

He groaned, knowing full well that somepony just ran out of the room for whatever reason. That wasn't much sound, but it was careless. "Hey." Carrick exclaimed. "Whatever pony is out there, try to keep guard while we're gone." Carrick said to Ghost. The detective had an idea that this trip won't have any problems, but nopony knows what will happens these days, anymore.

Grand laughed. "this isnt magic, silly pony! this is just some coordination. No magic involved, I promise!' she said, catching the pieces in her hoof. "wanna give it a try? I would show you a few other things, but unfortunately we dont have any trapezes or clown cars" she said mischeviously. she handed the pieces to Starburst. "now you just want to start by tossing one up in the air, and catching it, but the trick is when you catch the one in the air, you have to toss the piece in your hoof already" she said, happy to keep the colt busy for a while

As Fire Horn and Carrick walked away, Fire Horn leaned in close to him.
"I really don't want to leave my son alone with Ghost, in-case something happens." Fire Horn whispered to Carrick "...or maybe it's just parent's paranoia, not wanting to leave their child."

 

--Transition--

 

"I thought you were levitating them, that's amazing." Starburst said in awe. Starburst tried throwing the bits of rubble in the air, but they just ended up landing on his head and making him dizzy.

[Solana 2]

"Course I can, Mr. Murphy." Solana beams, head reared proud. "We just have to go back near the alley and instead if going straight, we wanna take a left." She explains, ears flicked up and at attention. The golden equine seems relaxed now that there is not so many of them. "But that's the gross water too. Unless you can purify it or whatever, I wouldn't touch it."

Ghost sat on the roof for a good while and heard Carrick's demand. "Sure thing, detective. I highly doubt there's anyone dangerous around, but I shall remain watchful." Ghost kicked back on the roof and relaxed. He remained ever vigilant and watchful for trouble.

Grand laughed lightly " normally we would start you off with hankerchiefs, but we dont exactly have any of those handy." she said, looking around for something a little less... painful. she came across a few rags." this should do" she said, handing them to Starburst. "That should give you something to do for awhile. "she leaned in to Starbursts ear "but if you use magic I wouldnt tell anypoy" she said, as if it were a huge secret

"I can't use my hooves to grasp these things, it's like trying to pick up a penny with a hammer." Starburst said disappointed.

He tried doing it again, but the same thing happened, only this time, it was a little less painful than before. "I can't do anything like this without magic."

"I think with mademoiselle everything will be fine." Carrick replied to Fire Horn's doubt. Hearing the sound of Ghost on the roof. "Plus, he's on guard duty." Carrick attention than heard the sounds of Solana telling them they have to come back to the alley and take a left. Though the sounds of dirty water hinder Carrick a bit. "Guess that will have to do. Seems like the stove we have is gas system. It shouldn't take too long to purify it." The detective explained. Trotting towards the alleyway.

Grand smiled. "you wanna know how long it took me to perfect juggling? A full year!" she whispered. "and theres a lot of stuff you can do that I can't. I can just barely teleport, and it takes a heck of alot of work to do" she said, tapping her horn. "youve got more magical abilities at your age then I have at mine, and I am nearly twice your age!"

"Except, other ponies have to work to accomplish such things as magic, but for me it comes naturally." Starburst replied. "It just doesn't feel like i ever achieve anything." Starburst looked down at the ground in sorrow.

 

--Transition--

 

"I suppose you're right, i can't be there all the time and i trust Grand completely, we've been friends for a good while now and i don't want that to go to waste on petty doubts. Grand and Starburst could handle themselves." Fire Horn said "We're going to need to make a filter, to take away all the bits of rock and stuff, then we need to boil the water to remove all bacteria, and ta-da, clean drinking water."

As he was lying on the roof, Ghost kind of dozed off into a nap. He felt very peaceful on top of the old building. It wasn't the sturdiest thing in the world, but he felt like he could finally relax for a second. "Ahhh. Not a single care in the world. Carrick and Fire are out getting water, Starburst and Grand are having a good time, and Zeta and Lady are safe back in Trottingham. All I need to do is lay back and bask in the sun."

Grand smiled. "well how about this. We can work on juggling, and when you get the hang of it, we can tell your mom and dad that you worked hard and learned how to do something new!" She said, trying to keep the little ponies hopes up. "I'll keep helping you if youd like! who knows, maybe juggling will be your super special talent!" (not sure if he has cutie mark or not)

"Well, mostly pure water. You need to add some type of disinfect as well, but we're out of chemicals for now. Best we just keep it mostly purified." Carrick explained. 

 

"Though, how long have you been with this group? Seems like you ponies have been together for a while now." Carrick asked. Seeing the river ahead of him. Carrick sees the water has a murky color as trash was scattered around the river. Providence knows what else as well. "Well," Carrick took out a canteen from his pocket. "We better find a container as well." The earth pony thought aloud.
