Just as Grand was ready to leave for her day of performing, a knock sounded. "How odd" she said to herself and opened the door. She saw who was standing there and her eyes welled up with tears, "S-stephan? IS that you?" she said, looking at him in shock. "I didnt think I would ever see you again!" she said, hugging him immediately. "Im so sorry for acting the way I did, I regret it so much. You have no idea how happy I am to see you" She said, still hugging him tightly.(she about to get shanked man)

Starburst was visiting a friend of his who lived just on the outskirts of Canterlot city, when he noticed a pony who he remembered, it was Stephen, he hid behind a wall. Grand opened the door,

"So that's where she's been all these years." Starburst thought.

He waited to see what would happen, but got a levitation spell ready and extended his wings, just in case things got ugly.

Ghost began to feel a feeling he hadn't felt in eight years; love. His normal feelings began to regain. He slowly began hugging Grand back. "Grand... I-I can't believe it..." The sword began to speak. "What? No! This is unacceptable! kill her now!" The sword forces Ghost to pin Grand against the wall. Ghost slowly tries to "Grand... help me... the sword... changed me..."

Grands eyes went wide. She forgot about the spell. she had learnt it so long ago, She didnt know if she could still do it. "Stephan.. Im so sorry. I forgot. I- Ill try my best. "she said, trying to remember spell. She squeezed her eyes shut and tried her hardest, but she couldnt perform it. she remembered the saddlebags. was it still in there? she hadnt looked through them in years

Enough was enough, Starburst had seen all he needed to see to come to a conclusion. He flew very quickly, over to where they were and wrapped Ghost in a levitation field and pinned him up against a wall.

"I've got this, Grand!" Starburst said.

 

(I was going to try and make Ghost drop the sword, but i don't know how he's holding it.)

Grand saw an alicorn who looked very familiar. Could it be?  she saw Stephan pinned up against the wall and without thinking yelled "Dont hurt him!"  She looked again. "Starburst? My goodness... your all grown up" she said quietly, not loud enough for anyone to hear. now wasnt the time to exchange pleasantries

"I'm not planning on hurting him, but i can't drop him unless i can guarantee that he's not going to hurt me or you or anypony else." Starburst was looking rather maliciously at Ghost, noticing the sword and pulling it away from him as hard as he could, it dropped to the ground.

"Feeling any better Ghost?" Starburst said, Ghost still wrapped in a field of magic.

(The sword is on his back) Ghost was pinned up against the wall, totally defenseless. He looked at the ponies in the room. "Guys... y-you're here. I finally found... my family again." The sword began to get irritated. "Stop being so soft, Stephan! Let us down from here!" Ghost began struggling and he could feel it breaking free. "Hurry up, guys!"

(God, I'm slow.) The sword dropped to the floor and Ghost's free will returned. He noticed that he was still trapped to the wall. "Well, I was better 8 years ago. You might wanna cure that sword before taking me down from here first." Ghost said with a small laugh.

Grand went into a small drawer in her closet. in the bottom was a tattered saddlebag. she opened the bag and grabbed an old and worn piece of paper, barely readable. But it was the spell. She would have to relearn it. "Unless you can learn it faster, Itll take me awhile to learn it again" she said, staring at it hard. she looked up and remembered Starburst. she ran to hug him. "I cant believe how grown up you are" she said, looking at him. "its been so long. I apologize for leaving" she said, looking down at the floorboards sadly

"It's certainly been a while, but i think i should get this spell done before we have a fantastic reunion."

Starburst's horn lit up as he chanted the spell, the spell was of zebra origin sa this had to be done differently. A dark fog raised off the sword and it dissipated. "There we go, long overdue." Starburst turned to Grand and hugged her.

Josh found and killed the group of trotters who stole his breakfast. he then picked herbs and ate them for breakfast. As he ate he thought about his friends and how he regreted leaving them. Looking towards canterlot from the forest he hoped that they were happy and alive

Grands eyes welled up. "I missed everyone so much. are your parents still here? I would love to see them again. Stephan? would you care to join us?" she said, smiling at him. How amazing she would meet everyone again. She was thrilled. "So, how have the past years treated you Star? I cant believe how big youve gotten" she said, remembering how he had fit comfortably on her back.

Ghost got up and walked to everyone. Standing before them was a 30 year old stallion, still hardy and strong. Stephan first walked up to Grand and hugged her. "Grand... I missed you so much. I can't tell you how happy I am to see you. I still can't believe your sister is dead. I'm so sorry. I hope I can make it up to you somehow." The stallion lightly pecked Grand's cheek and walked up to Fire and Starburst. "I hope you two are doing good. I'm glad you finally found your girl, Fire. And you, Starburst, I'm proud of you. You're grown up and taking on the world, son. You should feel happy."

He looked around for a minute and noticed something missing. "Wait. Where's Josh?"

Grand blushed a little. "umm, he refused to go into Canterlot. I havent heard from him since. " she said, trying to recall what happened, "we should try and find him, though he could be anywhere by now. If he is still alive, I can assume he would be somewhere with plants. His herbal medicines and such" she said, thinking. "but perhaps we should go and see Firehorn first. I would love a proper introduction to your mother. My first one wasnt exactly on the best of terms" she said

"I'm living with my Mum and Dad in the upper levels of the city, i just graduated from Magic School."

 

(Fire Horn isn't here.)

 

"It's very nice to see you after such a long time, i know i've grown quite a bit but i'm still the same colt." Starburst said. "I think my father would like that, he's really missed you over the years, i could tell growing up."

 

(I think Carrick will be joining us soon.)

Stephan nodded and he smiled. "I guess I will go and catch up with your father. Then I'll go find Josh. Wherever he is." He looked down at himself and noticed his torn up suit. "Did I really constantly wear this for the past eight years? I guess I'll go get some new attire first." Stephan walked out of the shack and looked over the new and improved Canterlot for the first time through his own eyes. "It's... gorgeous."

A pony once said to me "The dead are way more organized than the living." I feel like whoever said this was more right. Even if this was suppose to be a joke.

 

The days seem to blend together now. Each day seeming to just continue on like he never went to sleep. It cease to amaze him. That even in the post-apocalypse world. He would sustain the boredom that has overwhelm him. Accepting death was something that he regrets. As he finally found the pieces to the puzzle, all of them connected together, and now that he knows. He doesn't care to fix them. Even if there was time to fix, it wouldn't fix this world. The world that we continue to will just end just as the other is solved.

 

Alcohol certainly does help the boring nights. So does reading as well. With the small civilization that survives in Canterlot, it's no wonder that he still gets a few cases here and there. For a while it seems like normal life, but he knows the truth. He knows that no other case will be able to satisfy him anymore. Like using tape to fix a busted tube. It will only last for such a time before it reopens.

 

With the two bottles of rum in his saddlebags, he continue to trot his way back home. Maybe there was something to fix that hole he open with a case...or a empty bottle.

 

His attention was changed by a pony he hasn't encountered not eight years ago. He didn't bother to go after him as he went to find another pony he hasn't seen in a while. Mademoiselle. What seem like a bad encounter go wrong, the amount of coincidence continues to pile on as most of the group he meant in Trottingham was back in Canterlot. With that colt he saw defeat a group of trotters just save Ghost. He simply gave a sigh, How anticlimactic. A build-up of a powerful sword that Ghost left with has just be defeated by Mademoiselle's allure over Ghost. How arid.

 

With there small get together as he heard Ghost's word, the detective knew what to say to him. "It's allure is only good on the outside, to except anything else you'll be disappointed." Carrick replied to Ghost. Much hasn't changed with Carrick's appearance, he still has his earth pony's strong body get a bit bigger, giving more of a intimating appearance. His eyes bloodshot from the insomnia. His fedora was sparkling new while his trench coat followed. With the money he get, he was able to get tailor to fix him up a new coat.

Grand stared at the colt for a minute before it clicked. "Carrick? my goodness its been awhile!" she said, amazed at how her group had reformed so quickly. The colt looked healthy. "How have you been?" she asked, overjoyed to see everyone again. "I hope youve been doing well" she said happily

Ghost looked at Carrick and was surprise. "Hey, Carrick. Long time no see. You seem to be doing well my detective companion. How've you been?" He noticed he mentioned the cursed sword. "Oh yeah. That thing. Turns out it wasn't very strong. A little spell was all it took."

Fire Horn was at their house, counting the minutes until Starburst got home, it was the only thing left to do anymore, other than investigation and research, not much filled his life.

Grand nodded. "I would love to see your father again" she said happily, following behind Starburst. "How amazing that everypony found eachother in one day" she said, smiling. "It must have been destiny. How are your parents doing anyways?" she asked curiously

"My father works at a local blacksmith, my mother is a magic teacher in Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, that's wher i'm headed soon." Starburst said as he walked. "I didn't get as good a start as her mentor, Twilight Sparkle, she got in when she was just a filly."

Stephan ran off and got himself a different attire. He wanted to be a normal pony, just for a while. He walked to the local blacksmith and saw Fire Horn working the forge. "Fire Horn! It's been forever, bud!"

"Im sure that wouldnt be much of a problem. Youve got quite advanced magic skills" she said, recalling past incidents. "im sure your even stronger now then when you were just a colt" She looked at the royal palace in awe. she stayed on the outskirts of town and never got to see the palace in its full glory.

Carrick turned to his two bottle of alcohol. As he was asked how he was, "I've been better." Carrick bluntly stated. The detective sat down on the ground as he sighed, "Life been boring, and I don't like boring whatsoever. Who would of thought that I'm thinking about getting out of this town."
