Missy took the bag, rummaged through it to find the plant, once she found it, she took the plant and put it in Starburst's mouth, Missy looked worried, it wasn't dissolving, it....

Missy put her hoof to his neck, there was no pulse.

Starburst was dead. Missy collapsed over him and started crying very loudly.

Grand got to the base if the mountain. She looked up and saw the camp, high up. It was bad enough with a fake leg, now she's missing one altogether. "Alright grand, you can do this" she said, beginning to walk up. About quarter way she began slipping and landed right back where she started. She tried again and didn't even make it that far. She huffed and sat at the base if the mountain, front hooves crossed. "I hate mountains" she grumbled, a sour expression in her face as she sat stubbornly at the bottom of the mountain. She heard a heart wrenching wail echo from the mountain, and recognized the agony in the voice all too well. "Ohh no" she said, her heart sank. She was too late.

Steel knewwhen Missy broke down that starburst had died "I'm sorry for you lose Missy" steel said as he turned he saw grand just sitting at the base if the mountain he took flight and flew down "need some help" he asked not eating for a response he picked her up and flew he to the camp on. The way up he told her starburst had died

Zeta continued to fight off the horde of zebras coming at them, but eventually heard the sound of crying coming from behind and turned to see Missy standing over Starburst.

He immediately realized what happened, and right after came up to both. "So, this is the aftermath.. I'm sorry to say this to you, but right now we would have to shoot him again in the forehead." Then pulling out his revolver and taking aim. "Missy, your loss was never in vain.."

Grand nodded, knowing from the cries what had happened. Tears rolled down her face. " I was too slow. I could've saved him. I was too slow" she said sadly on the way up. She stood quietly a distance from the two. She whispered " I'm so sorry... It's my fault" so quietly she barely heard it herself. She closed her eyes as the silent tears trolled down her cheek into the dirt below her

Missy looked like she was going to tear somepony's head off, she knocked the revolver away from him. "Don't do this, he's already dead, what more could you possibly do?" Fire Horn intervened and restrained Missy.
"Fire Horn, get off me, you can't let them do this to him." Missy yelled.
"I'm sorry, it's the only way." Fire horn responded.

Stephan looked at Starburst's dead body and lowered his head. "Requienscant in pace." He said in latin. It meant "rest in peace." He closed Starburst's eyelids and rubbed his head. "Poor kid..." He said. He began thinking to himself.

Stephan looked down at Zeta. "Zeta, it was a spear, not a trotter. Don't shoot him in the head or I'll take that gun of yours and snap it in two." All of Stephan's cockiness left his voice. He was all serious.

Grand walked over and held Missy's hoof. She didn't speak a word. A sudden flash of her zombified sister burned through grands brain. This was for the best. "Be strong. Just don't do what I did" was all she said as she tightened her grip on missy as zeta cocked the gun and aimed at star bursts head. Memories of him coursed through her brain, followed by her own voice. "Your fault" "his death is on your shoulders" she would deal with those thoughts later

Missy looked at Zeta, then back at Starburst, it wasn't worth it, having to kill his reanimated corpse.
"No, neither would he, just do it now before i find a way to stop you." Fire Horn let go of Missy and she put her forelegs around Grand and began to cry again.

"Grand kept her eyes glued on starburst. The guilt of letting her sister remain one of those monsters reared its head. She didn't want missy to have that guilt. "I promise it'll be alright" she said, her eyes red. "This is for the best" she said quietly. She repeated it a few times, her eyes not moving from star bursts face. He was so young

Stephan kept looking at Starburst. At that moment, an image ran through his mind. "Light Streak..."

 

-Flashback-

Pony Stephan got himself out from under the rubble he was stuck in. It seemed like there was some sort of explosion, because when he got out of the rubble, Ponyville was completely deserted.

"Just what was that all about..." Stephan asked himself, trying to get himself back to his hooves. He looked over and couldn't believe what he saw.

Hundreds of ponies, hundreds of innocent lives... lost. And in the middle of it all... was his best friend, Light Streak.

He ran over to Light and checked his pulse. There was none. He was deceased. He began to cry over his best friend's dead body and it began to move.

The body seemed to be dead, but alive again. It started heading towards Stephan and he backed up against the wall. Without many options, he decapitated his best friend and he fell to the ground. Stephan couldn't believe what he just done. He looked around him and saw other ponies coming back up, too. They all turned their heads in unnatural ways to him and they began running towards him. Stephan quickly got out of there, feeling guilty for letting all of this happen."

-Flashback over-

 

Stephan grabbed his head and kneeled to the ground. "No... this is all of my fault... if I was more competent... none of this would've EVER HAPPENED!"

Grand couldn't wait any longer. This was her fault, she would be the one to do it. "I'm so sorry" was all she said before she raised her dagger above starbursts head. She hesitated for a moment, until she saw his eyes roll open, yellowed and hungry. She gasped, bringing down the dagger into his skull, stopping g him from harming anyone.

Zeta hesitated for too long, watching as Grand stuck the dagger into his skull to prevent from any further injury. There was always one thing he could never do, and that's kill an innocent life.

"We cant break up just from this.. I know that this is one pony lost, but he will be remembered in our hearts as a brave adventurer. But.."

He turned to Missy and Fire Horn, bowing his head down.

"I'm sorry I couldn't protect him..."

Grand watched as the blood pooled around her hooves. She was traumatized. She just hoped no one else saw those bloodthirsty eyes that were burned into her brain. His blood soaked her hooves and covered her dagger. She let out a pathetic gasp as she stepped away, slipping in the blood. What a curse that leg was. "I'm so, so sorry" was all she could muster until she put her head in her hooves a d let out a stifled cry

Stephan looked up. "No, guys. If anything, it's my fault. Not just for Starburst's death, but for the death of everypony taken by this damn outbreak." He looked at Fire Horn and Missy. "It's my fault your son is dead." He looked at Grand. "It's my fault your sister is a trotter." He looked down. "And it's my fault m best friend in the universe is dead..." He walked to the edge of the mountain. "If I were more prepared years ago, I could've stopped any of this from happening... but I didn't. Some hero I am." He sat down at the edge and looked down at his feet.

Stephan looked back. "You wouldn't understand, Steel. He was the only family I had in Equestria. Where's your family?" He asked in a tone that pretty much said "don't answer the question." He shoved Steel of the the way and looked down from the mountain. "Let's do this so we can get off this rock." Stephan jump-flipped off of the mountain and sped down the mountain at top speeds.

Stephan stopped dead in his tracks and came running back up the mountain. He stopped and looked at Steel. "I guess we come from similar backgrounds, then. To me, my family is dead. I haven't seen any of them for nearly half of my entire life." He brought up for what seemed like the ten-millionth. "Everypony here has someone they've lost." He stood tall. "And, as a team, we'll stick together to overcome the odds, avenge them, and save Equestria."

"That's enough!" Grand yelled, tears in her eyes. " we just lost the youngest member if our group. The least we can do is pay some respect and avoid fighting like children" she said, covered in blood. "The least we can do is stay together. We aren't going to let anything divide us. We are a family, and your damn right I'm going to drop any of this nonsense" she said through a tense jaw. Her eyes were harsh

Stephan listened to what Grand said, calmed down, and knelt down to Starburst's dead body. "I never got the chance to give him this..." He pulled out a hat of some sort from his knapsack. "It's my adventuring hat. I never wore it in Equestria, but on Earth, I'd always wear it to feel like I was a great adventurer." He had a slight sign of sadness in his voice. "I bet he'd love it..."

"I only had one pony I cared about and that was my grandfather and he died when I was seven the rest if my family left me so took what my grandfather taught me and raised my self" steel said to Stephan steel took flight and went into a ree he sat there and cried silently -I miss him every day- steel thought pulling out his dagger and looked at it and cried even more

Grand hobbled over to a puddle, washing the blood off of her. The puddle turned a muddy red as she cleaned herself. " it seems every time I bring my confidence up its shattered again" she thinks. Why was she so slow? She walks over to where she had been sleeping previously and laid down, soaking. She picked at the ground, looking for a distraction from her thoughts
