I can't believe this has been going on for 10 years" she said, thinking back to before all if this started. Those memories were blurred (and their faces were obscured). She walked back to the rest of the group, seeing they we're getting prepared to leave

Hearth returned just in time to hear Missy call him injured. "No, give the water to Zeta, ah can handle mahself just fine on my own." he said with a no nonsense attitude. 'I'm strong enough to know when to and when to not drink water.' "Ah don't need it is all ah'm sayin' Heh."

"That sounds fine, Missy. I'll save the waters for Zeta and Hearth, then."

Stephan just continued to sit with the group. He put the gallons of water back in his knapsack and just remained in his inner thoughts. "We're so close to this shrine. All we have to do is make it through the desert, and then we'll be home free. But, I just hope that I have the chance to tell Grand about my true feelings. She's so sweet and caring. I just want to be with her afterwards. But, before doing any of that, I'll send the letter off to father. Oh, how I miss him. I seems like yesterday I was a little boy and we were throwing the ball around outside..." Stephan thought.

Grand looked out of the cave to an all too familiar sight. A group if shambling, revolting corpses moving toward them. But these ones were different. They were sprinting. Their teeth were razor sharp. They weren't ordinary trotters. "Oh my celestia" was all grand could say, getting nauseous from the sight of them

Hearth went to go talk to Grand about what had happened after his encounter with the Magma Goliath. He saw exactly what she saw. He spoke calmly but firmly. "Grand, go get the others, tell them to pack up the things and start running for wherever their going." He knew that things would move slower if they panicked. He slid on a muzzle cap and began to fire, taking out the closest ones first.

Stephan looked outside and saw the trotters. Grand was right. They didn't look like any ordinary undead they found back in Manehattan. They looked far more ferocious. It still didn't phase him. "Heh. No problem. I'll take them all on if I have to." Stephan said without fear in his voice.

"What's all the ruckus about?" Missy woke when she felt the ground shaking beneath her, she looked out of the cave, Hearth fired at them, which would mean they would come this way, they would have to find an alternate escape route. "What do we do now?" Missy asked desperately.
"We fight them, as we have done before." Fire Horn said appearing from the depths of the cave.

Grand took out her dagger hesitantly.She never wanted to touch this dagger again, but she wasn't used to the staff yet. It was her best defence. She cringed as she used her magic to hold it up. "Alright, let's get this over with" she said, her voice was not as strong as she would have liked

Stephan put his hand on Grand's shoulder and he smiled. "With all of us against them, this'll be over in a split second. Time to put what Steel and I taught you to the test."

 Stephan took out his electrical staff and got in a fighting position. "Guys, lower the shield!"

"Hey, we're gonna get through this." he heard his own words and took them to heart. "We are going t' get through this. I know it." he said with a little bit of reassurance in himself. His gun at the ready, he pulled it to his chest. For a moment the seemed like a family, albeit a dysfunctional one.

"Alright everypony, winged ponies use ranged weapons, the others will fight on the ground." Fire Horn yelled.
"My wing is broken." Missy said, getting a facehoof from Fire.
"Lower the shield in 3..." Fire Horn shouted.
Time stood still, the battle would be fearsome.

"2..." The horde was getting closer.

"1........Now!" The shield dropped. "Everypony! CHARGE!!"

Grand ran full fledge into the mass, stabbing the dagger into the skull if whichever one came close. Their strength was threatening. She began to wield both the dagger and the electric rod, with less accuracy on the rod. But each time the dagger entered a trotters head, starbursts hungry eyes looked at her. The blood gushing from the gashes in their head was starbursts. She tried to shake the thought from her mind, but soon all she could see we're starburst trotters. She continued to fight

Fire Horn ran into the hordes of trotters, stabbing one in the head, dodging another, one was about to pounce from behind him.
A bolt of magic hit it and it disintegrated, Fire turned around.
"Don't just stand there, kill things." Missy yelled before running to somepony else's aid.

Stephan ran up to the trotters at full speed and started picking them off one-by-one. Killing trotters seemed easier as a human, since he could just simply run up to them and punt their skulls off of their necks. He actually found killing these trotters fun. It felt satisfying to kill them, after all they've done.

Hearth took a shot and as soon as one was down, he'd slay another. His bayonet was sharp and steady, and when he had the chance, he'd reload and pop off another shot. One got in close enough to grab him, but it was no match for him. He placed the wood finish against its throat and pinned it against a wall. He pushed until the head popped off and onto the floor as though it had been there for a long time. He took no pride in his killing, knowing that these were once ponies with lives.

Fire threw a trotter against a wall and sliced it's head off, he looked over at Stephan, who was kicking ass.
"Stephan, let's get out of here, before anypony else gets hurt." Fire Horn turned as he heard a familiar scream, it was Missy she had been pinned down by two trotters, she was holding them off for now.
"Somepony help!!" Missy yelled.

Hearth sprinted up and body checked them very easily. He hit one with the butt of his gun and stabbed another in the head with his bayonet. He turned to the one he'd hit and shot it in the eye. He turned to Missy and held out a hoof to help her up. "Ya alright?" he asked her.

Grand looked at missy, running towards her and bashing some trotters skulls in with the dagger. Her mind was beginning to take a toll though. "Are you alright missy?" Grand asked, a little disoriented. She stabbed another starburst illusion in the head. She couldn't get rid of the vision. She stood by missy, attacking the trotters

"I'm fine, just don't get distracted by anything. We can do this. I just need to concentrate." Missy slurred, her vision swimming, she collapsed shortly after killing a few trotters.
"Missy? Wake up!" Fire noticed a strange marking on her leg. "No, it can't be, it just can't be. Stephan, distract them!"

Grand had gotten to the point of bring completely delirious. " how dare you do that to your mother!" She yelled into the mass, stabbing them, shaking. When did she become so emotionally unstable? Each stab brought her closer to hysteria. She may be able to heal physically, but she had no idea how to deal with mental health.

Stephan nodded and shook the trotters he was currently focusing on off of him. "Sorry, guys, but I gotta entertain the rest of the party." Stephan joked, as he sped to Missy and Fire's sides. He began to fend off the trotters surrounding them. "What happened to her??"

Hearth was getting a little bit enraged at the endless waves of trotters. He killed one, another, four, then ten, then 20. He decided that it was time to use a little something he'd been saving for a little while. "No more mister nice-pony." he yelled. He cut a trotter just above the rib cage. Holding it still, he lit a stick of dynamite, and popped it in. He kicked the trotter into a horde clear of anyone on the group. BOOM!!!! It obliterated nearly half of the hostiles in the area.

Missy reached a hoof out.
"Grand." Was all that Missy could muster.
Fire pointed to her right hind-leg.
"You see that, that isn't a scratch, that is a bite-mark, which we're gonna have to deal with, i just can't do that to my own wife, not after all we've been through." Missy had desperation in her eyes. "Fire....fire....don't...please..." she murmured weakly.

Fire is holding Missy in his forelegs right now by the way. Just for visualization purposes.

Grand turned to missy, looking at the leg. "Looks like might be matching" she said, taking the dagger and placing it over her leg. "I'm so sorry" she said, before she began to cut. She only hoped that missy would pass out sooner than later. "I'm so, so sorry" she said, the madness in her eyes only growing

"Well, we can't just let her turn!" Stephan yelled, pushing trotters off of him. The undead army was becoming relentless, even after the explosion that Hearth caused. "We'll need to do something about it, and fast! But first, we need to get rid of..."

Stephan saw Grand beginning to cut into Missy's leg. "Oh my..."
