@,

Stephan sighed. He couldn't believe Shy blew up the building. Maybe he WAS too good-hearted for his own good. Stephan raised his head up to Starburst.

"Sure, Starburst. Anything as to get my mind off of current events." He said lounging in his chair and trying to relax.

Caramel looked at Starburst. "70 ponies? How was your dad capable of such... Destruction?" She asked, looking at Starburst. "Did you... Did you help him?"

Siren had managed to find a small room to rent for awhile. She laid down tiredly and smiled, glad to still be free... And alive

Grand had made her way to appleoosa, which was in worse condition than Ponyville. She stopped at an Inn and smiled. "One room please" she asked softly.

"Name please"

Grand hesitated. "Just Finale"

Starburst looked over at Caramel, he wanted to say no, that he had nothing to do with it, that it was all his father's fault. But he did it, he took justice into his own hooves.

"I........I blew the place up, I killed them all. It's why I wanted to leave Caramel, my magic is too powerful, it could end up hurting someone I care for." Starburst said. "And it just killed 70 ponies, so if I were you, I'd think again about our relationship." Starburst sat in the corner of the room, staring at Missy's near-lifeless form.

Fire turned to the stallion, what did he think he was? Stupid? He went inside, whispered a few words to Starburst and Starburst ran outside, picked up the nearest object he could find and smashe it over his head, knocking him to the floor.

"You really think I wouldn't recognise your voice, Steel?" Fire said. "Now, we can do this the easy way, or the hard way. Why did you try to kill Missy? Why would you betray her trust like that?" Fire questioned, stepping on his neck and signalling Starburst to take the weapons he had away from him.

Caramel noticed and ran out ahead of Starburst. "That's enough! Haven't you heard the saying, an eye for an eye makes the world blind? This violence has to stop, we need to be diplomatic. And fire, you have no right to involve Starbuest in this. You made him kill innocent ponies, and now that's on his conscience" she said looking at him, her voice sincere. "Please stop this"

His mind was conflicted, this pony, had tried to decieve them, so many times, he tried to kill his wife, and he tried to fool him once again. Then he thought to Missy, would she want him to be like this, stepping over everypony in the pursuit of "justice". She had even tried being his friend, which made this betrayal all the more cruel.
"He has to pay for his crimes, he has to answer for what he's done!" Fire yelled.

"Then put him in jail! Incarcerate him, fine him, anything! Anything but this. Your mayor for Celestias sake! Your the voice of reason, these ponies look up to you! If you do this, your no better than the criminals that you put away." Caramel said, stepping forward. "I'm asking you to be the bigger pony and do the right thing, please" she said, putting her hoof on his shoulder.

"Yeah, I know dipshit!" Fire said, a snarl in his voice, he backed away from Steel and pulled a gun out of his holster. "Make one wrong move and I will shoot you, I should just shoot you because of what you've done, but I'm going to give you one chance to explain, before I send you somewhere you'll rot for eternity."
"Dad." Starburst said quietly. "Stop this."

Caramel sighed and took a step back. "Dammit, where's Grand? She's so much better at this stuff than I am" she said, looking at the gun. She stood in front of Steel, looking straight down the barrel of the gun. "I'm done with chivalry, if your going to resort to execution for everything, I'm standing in your way. No one deserves to die"

Recording 010.

--------------------

Dududududung.

A stallion was hammering wooden planks onto an open door. He was working hastily, though the nailed planks didn't overlap or leave holes – it was evident that he has been doing some effort on barricading the building.

"Hey, newcomer," the stallion greeted, only taking a short glance before continuing his work.

Immediately I found difficulty to start the conversation. I noticed a workbench, filled with crudely made wooden planks. They were of different colors, some painted in white, others in red; it seemed like they had been doing some scavenging around the building to find these valuable resources. Wood was useful in such times where civilization was beginning to break itself. Taking a deep breath, I said, "You need some extra hooves? It appears like you have been working on that fence for quite some time."

"That would be great," he answered, pointing to the workbench. "Cut these planks into a rectangular shape and in half, both in width and depth. Would speed things up a bit. Anyways, I didn't quite catch your name."

"It's Astrolabe," I replied, walking to the workbench and finding a switchblade. They have been cutting with this? The thought was unbelievable. I took out the machete instead and began sawing it. The process still took some time, taking about three minutes to just cut the plank in half in a reasonable clean manner.

"Apple Cinnamon," the stallion monotonously responded. "As the name implies, I'm one of the Apple family. I was an airship pilot – which is a bit funny since Fuselage here is an airship architect – who came here from Mirror Lake. It's near the eastern Whitetail Mountain Range; over that range and not far from the Forest River is Ponyville. I was taking a visit to Fort Harbor; that was the one of the only places in such a quiet area that sold airship parts. Then suddenly, I get caught up in some outbreak and I escaped from the city, to here, with false hope that the place wasn't infected, and I heard it was a possible safe zone. And of course it wasn't. Fortunately, Fuselage saved me here."

We both kept working; I cut down another plank to length and picked up another. Cinnamon was making a quick double enforcement on the door edges. Suddenly he continued. "The survivors here don't know how bad it is. I mean, they know it's real and they've been running for their lives to get here, but what I really mean is the lost benevolence. The outbreak is making monsters out of us, replacing the traits that make us a pony with barbarism and brutality."

"I would have expected ponies to act like animals in this case," I commented. "It's in our blood. We're still feral."

"I saw a stallion in Asphodel kill a filly. Shot her with a gun right through her head," he added.

"Did she turn into a walker before she was killed?" I asked.

He sighed, and dropped his hammer on the ground. "I'm not completely sure myself, but either he was about to attack him or, most likely, was asking for help. The stallion didn't even hesitate; he just loaded his pistol, pointed the barrel at the filly's face, then pulled the trigger. It was crazy."

"It's not what you expect it to be," I said.

"Anyways, Astro, did you have to" – he made a slicing gesture through his face – "kill one of them yet?"

"Well, uh..." I muttered. "I may have killed a few out there, though Silverspeed and her sister have been saving me. Several times."

"Heh, lucky you," Cinnamon smiled. "You have two ponies who can save your ass and kick some, too. So how are your parents?"

I hesitated for some time before finally answering uncertainly to that question. "My parents are in Hoofington. I hope."

"Hope is what's keeping us together, Astro," he reminded, hammering the a nail onto a plank. "That's enough for now. Maybe you can help some other ponies around here."

As he finished speaking, all the lights immediately flickered, and suddenly the metal bars on the door came to life. Apple Cinnamon jumped, once more dropping his hammer. "Celestia, it isn't those two again..."

"Who?"

"Hey, Cinnamon! Fuselage and I got the electrical current of the whole building and the generators working again!" A mare intervened, shaking the two of us. "Then we placed the current onto the metal bars!"

"Really, Quickfix," he groaned. "I was working on barricading the doors. You could have electrocuted all of us."

Quickfix ignored Cinnamon. "Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't know that! But nonetheless..." – she laughed in an antagonistic manner – "the result is going to be 'shocking'! Bet it's going to 'hertz' the undead like 'watts' on flypaper! Sure going to 'amp'-"

Before she could finish her sentence, it was interrupted by her own laughter, hysterical and tears streaming down her face. Cinnamon was exasperated, and I was about to cover my ears; the puns were horribly awful. "Yeah, yeah, we get it!" Cinnamon shouted.

Quickfix left us along, trotting away triumphantly. "So who is Quickfix? A comedian?" I questioned sarcastically.

"Far from that," Cinnamon rejoined. "Her jokes are like the hellish spawn of Tartarus. They damage my ears to the extend of deafness. They're like...the undead."

"I can relate," I sympathized.

"But in all seriousness," he said, "before the outbreak, Quickfix was a technician. Hence her cutie mark of a wrench and her terrible puns relating to electrical frequency or power or whatever. She claimed that she once lived in Ponyville with her parents, but she wanted to visit Trottingham, which is east of here, for a week. When the outbreak occurred, she ran here.

"Then there's the other ponies. You know Blueprint, I believe. She has her family here, as in her husband, Cold Front, and all three of her children. Their names were...Asymptote, Assonance, and Anecdote, I think. Can't quite remember who is who. Then there's Fuselage, the second-in-command, thinks its her heroic duty to save everypony. Also, there's the leader, which is Fifer. Apparently you've seen him throw a fit there with Fuselage. Finally - I don't think you've seen him - there's Silver Scrip, Amaranthine, and Graphite; I don't where the last two have went. They were scavenging the city for food and medicine, but they've been out for ten hours. Should have been back by now."

I shivered a bit. The scream - could that have been the two? "They should be fine," I replied.

"Yeah," he reluctantly agreed, nodding his head. "Graphite's a delivery pony. He might know his way around here."

"Like you said," I repeated his words, "Hope is what is keeping us together. So we better keep hoping. Hoping that we return to our casual lives, with the families and trips and beer parties. I used to be a professor for the Heartland Institute of Science and physicist before all this. Now its all gone. With all that, what is there left in our lives?

"I don't want to continue a life like this. With ponies dying and getting infected and the survivors going crazy and desperately killing other ponies, dead or alive," I finished.

"Agreed," he said. "Only this issue is probably going to be staying here for way more than a few days, as we all think."

Stephan had had enough of Fire's wrathful blood lust. He already let him kill seventy ponies that day. There was no way he was going to let him kill seventy-one. Stephan run up to Fire and activated the Sonic Blast aura. He jetted up to Fire and punched him to the ground.

"You need to stop this, Fire." He said, looking down at him with anger.

Fire quickly got up from the ground.

"And do you just expect me to do nothing?" Fire argued. "Do you just expect me to not punish the pony who almost murdered my wife? You know what, all of you just leave, including you Steel. But I will never.....forgive you for what you've done to my family, you traitor."

@@Grand_Finale,@,  @,

"I expect you not to kill him, Fire. I expect you to at least put him inside of a jail cell." Stephan argued back. "I never thought of you as a killer. You're no better than Siren OR Steel if you choose this course of action." Stephan then turned around. "Actually, never mind. Just do whatever you want. Maybe I AM just too good-hearted for my own good. I'll leave you to answer that." He then began to walk away to find Zeta and Caramel. Grand seemed to have gone missing, and now it's up to him to hunt her down.

He walked into the room and sat by Missy, holding her hoof, he started crying.
"Missy, I've made some bad decisions, I've done some terrible things, and I don't believe there's any true redemption for me, " Fire said. "Which  is why, I'm going to do everything in my power, to make sure nopony else dies, no more death." Fire looked up at Starburst who had just entered, teary eyes. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have made that order, now I have to live with the consequences."

"But dad, it was me, I killed those ponies, you didn't." Starburst said.

"I know, but I might as well have forced you to." Fire said, but then wiping away his tears. "There needs to be a proper court for this, just bring Steel in here." Starburst levitated Steel through the door and dropped him at the bottom of Missy's bed.

"Do you see what you've done? Do you even care?" Fire asked.

Caramel sighed. "Fine. I'm going home" she said angrily, stomping back to the house. She went into Grands room to talk to her and stopped. She was gone, and most of her things were missing too. "Dammit" she cursed under her breath and went back into her room. She laid down and sighed. "She left"

Starbrust noticed Caramel leaving and left after her. He had gotten to the house but hesitated to open the door. He opened the door.
"Caramel, are you here?" Starburst walked in and looked around, somehow the house seemed oddly empty. He went to her room and found her.

Caramel threw a pillow against the wall "she left! She left and she's a coward! I don't why she did, but she's gone and she didn't even say goodbye!" She said angrily, looking around for something else to throw. "Why would she leave! That stupid... It doesn't matter" she said, sitting in her bed.

"Leave?" Starburst asked quizzically, it took him by surprise. "Did Grand leave? I see, from now on, we're all just going to drift away from each other." Starburst said and stomped his hoof "Well, not if I have anything to say about it. We're going to find her, and bring her back home, we need her."

Caramel sat for a moment thinking. "Starburst? She left right after all this happened. Do you think she ... No, no she wouldn't, she couldn't!... Could she?" Caramel said quietly, leaning against him

Siren ran through her head if she left any evidence. She was proud of herself for being so convincing. She hung up her hat and cape before getting into bed and slept happily

Starburst thought back to how Grand had acted before, she was with Zeta, sort of.....they were standing together and Stephan pulled him away for a "chat". "I think I know why she left." Starburst wasn't entirely surprised by his thoughts. "Stephan and Zeta have been going after Grand for forever right? Well, that, along with my mum being in a coma, tipped her over the edge."

"Are you sure? I mean, shes been through way worse than that... I knew she was a coward, letting a couple of boys send her packing".  She said angrily. "Maybe its for the best she left if something so... so idiotic. She didnt even say goodbye!" She sighed, getting worked up again
